burger heaven

this is another stop along my the way of my reviews of burgers throughout canada.   located at #77 10th street in new westminster, bc  this 1970’s retro burger joint boasts a wealth of awesome burgerness. i tried their “the works” burger. this is a magnificent burger with a hand crafted patty, realbacon(not the paper thin stuff you get at some locations), cheese, onion, mushrooms, tomatoes, lettuce on a delightful bun. it was a  truly heavenly and filling burger.  i selected the homemade wedge cut fries from the availble sides and they were a great addition although you could have  a salad instead if fries do not meet your fancy.

they have the feel of a beachfront surfer hang out with patio seating and aged seating area. the food i have to say is fantastic. i ordered their hulk burger which has 2 pattiesbaconand real cheese, it was great.

i will absolutely be returning.

first time at burger heaven. there milkshakes was very impressive. orderedbaconcheddar cheese burger with wedges. very filling. very small place and felt too close to other guest. no privacy. decor needs updating. staff are friendly. had better burgers else where. it's not bad. might go back again in near future.

since it was so nice out me and a friend skipped the last half of our law class and though we'd try "new west's best burger joint" and see what all the hypes about. i had the swissbaconpickle burger. my buddy had the hulk burger. service was really quick and efficient and our server was very polite. great front end work overall.

so now the important part, the burger. my burger was perfectly cooked, nice and juicy. the tomatoes, onions, lettuce and pickles were all fresh and the picks were even still crispy which was nice. the only problem with this big burger (portion size was definitely ample) was i felt it was a bit under seasoned. i mean withbaconand swiss cheese i thought it would have a bit more bang. it had a mayo/secret sauce as well but again this didn't really light up the burger for me as i didn't really notice it. i think the burgers could do with a bit more salt n pepper after they're finished grilling. that secret sauce could use a bit more too. although having never had the sauce by itself i can't really say. maybe my burg just needed another dollop of it.

now normally it wouldn't have bugged me that much that my meat disc was a little under seasoned but at these prices (my burger and salad with two beers and 15% tip came to about $32) and with burger heaven supposedly being the best burger joint in the area i was expecting perfection.

so wrapping this up, i'm willing to believe this was just an off night and will give them another chance but that next burger better blow me away or i won't be coming back.

i wanted to go to burger heaven with was finally in town so we could go.  the waitress was really nice and it seems like she was managing the entire service area so she was constantly going back and forth. for that reason, i had no problem with  the amount and quality of service she provided us under those circumstances.  i ordered the works burger. when it was delivered to me, i couldn’t wait to jump in. this was not a good idea. the burger just came off the grill and the fresh patty needed to sit for a few minutes so the juices go back into the meat. after waiting a few minutes, i resumed eating and it was delicious!  this is a classic homemade burger done well. the lettuce and tomatoes didn’t do anything for the burger but the pickles, bacon, mushrooms, cheese, and patty were delicious!  the potato wedges also came out of the fryer. crunchy on the outside and soft/fluffy in the inside.  overall, i would definitely go back if i had a burger craving because they did a good job and everything about it works.  the only thing i did not like was that my friend made his own burger and with the additional toppings it was more expensive than my burger but they only took 50% off the base price of the make-your-own burger price rather than the price of the entire burger.  # burger american canadian vancouver new westminster delicious beefbaconmushroom pickle tomato lettuce bun sesame potato wedges posted 1 hour ago simple roasted asian yams there was a week a while back where i saw asian yams (organic) on sale: a whole bag of them. it sparked my curiosity to see if i could find an optimal baking temperature since i could definitely try a few times.  after a lot of experimenting, i got the best results using the following recipe! you will need: yams, washed

  remember i told you guys i was craving burgers yesterday? welll, today i made the trip out to burger heaven to sastisfy that craving tehe! burger heaven is located in new west, and they're known for their specialty burgers, their thick cut fries, and their mile high burger (which consists of 10 patties stacked on top of each other)! after my food came the guy beside me looked at me and said "you sure you can finish that by yourself?" lol! guess he was pretty impressed when i did, and he told me to take a picture of my empty plate haha! note: today i'm not going to be writing my "overview" section because i'm studying for midterms lol. but after my exams are over on weds, everything will be back to normal! :) elk burger combo $16 3/5 stars   i was originally going to order their basic #1 burger, but i decided against it because i thought it would be too boring lol!! i am at a place called burger heaven after all, i might as well order something weird! so i decided to get a burger off their specialty menu, their elk burger!    the burger patty was moist, and really thick haha. the sauteed mushrooms packed a ton of flavour, a myraid of sweet, salty, and savoury coming together. the cheese was perfectly melted and covered the entire patty. thebaconpieces were crispy, and not too oily (albeit really salty.) was this worth the $17 that i paid? imo, no lol. it was good, but not $17 good lol! fries fries 3.5/5 stars  salad 3/5 stars   the fries were awesome! thick cut, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, very potatoey. i ended up dipping it in the salad dressing it came with haha! the salad dressing was delish: tangy, sweet, and garlicky! i was happy that my burger came with a side of salad haha, to balance out the meat!

needs work. went to the burger heaven in new west. burger was good. i ordered the #1 bbq cheddar &baconburger. when i say good, i mean it wasn't great. the prices are high for a good hamburger. i told the waitress this was my first time there. i wasn't told of any specials, nothing was suggested to me. this food was probably awesome in the 80's, this is 2014. everything felt old.
food was good... looked like 1 strip ofbaconon the burger folded.
if you live in the new west skytrain mall area, you have deep pockets and you are craving a burger. this is probably the best burger in the area.

we finally tried it... we finally made it down the road to new west to try burger heaven. we sat on the patio. the server was very nice and polite and gave us great service.
i decided to start by trying a chicken burger with teriyaki sauce. i added onion rings instead of fries. i enjoyed it, the chicken was a good size and juicy. for me however there was a bit too much sauce a bit overwhelming. rainbowcrab had thebaconcheese burger with fries. the burger was huge and there were a lot of wedge fries. she said the burger was ok,, she gave it 6.5 out of 10 based on burger- judging -meter. we would go back, but not as good as we had hoped.

after a day of snowboarding at cypress mountain, we were looking forward to having a late lunch at burger heaven in new westminster.  at 2pm on a saturday the small burger restaurant was packed to our surprise.  we needed to wait 20 minutes for a table for 3, so we decided to get take out instead. i ordered a  the works burger, which had cheddar, mozzarella,bacon& mushrooms and dill pickles. this was a really big burger, and i loved it from the first bite to the last. the patty was really juicy. everything worked for me from the saltiness of the bacon, and the sourness of the pickle. if you are craving for a real burger, this burger will take care of you. to my surprise, my friends didn’t enjoy theirs burgers as much as i did with mine. they had the bbq cheddar,bacon& mushroom burger and the heaven sent grilled chicken burger . both said they were good, but nothing special. the burgers ranges around $12-$15, you can order the burgers with salad or th

come hungry come often. these guys do burgers right which means they don't do too much. a good size portion of ground beef, minimally handled, just enough seasoning and a nice crust from the flattop. i normally order mine with blue cheese and fried mushrooms (holy umami batman!) but another favourite in the breakfast burger. i mean, who doesn't love a fried egg on theirbaconcheeseburger? love the kitschy atmosphere with the tables laminated with photos. it's like a '70s rec room in there. their famous wedges...not sure why. salads are green and desserts are an after thought but go for the burgers. they really very good. exotic meats are ok but i always find them too lean to make a good burger.

definitely a sweet place. after checking out some of the burger places in calgary, i thought i would try one in vancouver when i was out there a few weeks back., and i was pretty happy this one worked out. the portions are more than generous- i was almost full from my chocolate shake, and was then the only one of my party to even get close to finishing my main meal, which i regretted later since it killed my appetite. seriously, come hungry to this place- one of my buddies wasn't too hungry and ordered the blt, but even that had about 15 pieces ofbaconon it. pretty honest restaurant, would like to go back.

after being seated, i was skeptical about this place but since there were so many people eating here i thought they must be doing something good. i ordered the hawaiian burger withbaconinstead of ham and wedge fries ($14). the burger was topped with a pineapple ring, teriyaki sauce, mozzarella cheese, lettuce, red onions, and tomato. the beef patty was thick and juicy and thebaconwas perfectly crisp. i loved the addition of  sweet pineapple on the burger and it gives it a kick of flavour and moisture. the mozza cheese was gooey and piled on and the teriyaki sauce was a bit sweet and went well with the rest of the toppings. they put a ridiculous amount of red onion on my burger and

maybe it was the bbq sauce, i couldn't really tell if the patty was good or not. the burger was good overall.

i didnt like the potato wedges, i guess i am more of a crispy fries kinda guy.
