bruges waffles and frites

fabulous!. i made a special trip downtown to to visit bruges waffles and frites when on vacation in salt lake city, and boy was i glad i did! the waffles are delicious! (i had mine plain.) warm, crunchy, a little sweet... a wonderful combination! later in the day, i went back for a machine gun sandwich - wow! delicious! spicy lamb sausage, perfectly seasoned and crispy frites, creamy andalouse sauce... all stuffed into a fresh baguette. i had to take a hit of antacid later, but it was worth it! a welcome change from the traditional american deli sandwich. if you love fries/fried potatoes... you have to give their frites a try! i think they are the tastiest fries i've ever had, and that's saying something! i will definitely be back the next time i head up to slc!

best ever. i went to belgium last year (also seeing brugge) and had craved there waffles and fries ever since! i stumbled across this place and it is exactly what i have craved! its worth the long lines and even eating in your car. the machine gun is also amazing! also try the chocolate bars they sell at the counter and different sauces to dip your frites in!

lived up to my expections from the reviews. was very good, i read a million reviews on urbanspoon and i was not disappointed. i think it is a big pricey but then again i'm not eating there everyday. i went on a thursday afternoon it was a pretty day and no wait there was very little people there, so it was wonderful

guilty pleasure. i had been curious about bruges waffles and frites for a few months now, so i decided to give it a try this afternoon.

my companion and i split a vanilla waffle with ice cream and strawberries. the waffle was okay by itself, but the ice cream and strawberries made a big difference.

we also split a machine gun sandwich and frites. this was by far the best part of the meal. we asked not to have the sauce on top of the frites, mostly because we wanted to take it easy on the mayo and the sandwich is messy enough as it is. the sausage was great, as was the sauce and the baguette. i'm not much for fries in general, but these were quite good.

the service was just okay. we got the waffle without any hitches, but there were a couple of screw-ups on the sandwich. we did ask for it to be split in half, but they forgot to do that, so we had to resort to cutting it with plastic knives. (not an easy task with a baguette.) also, the first go round, the sandwich was served with some of the mayo sauce on top (which we specifically asked for on the side instead).

overall, i'd consider coming back, but i probably won't become a regular. bruges was good enough for me to like on here, but not enough for me to come back on a frequent basis.

small place, for big appetites!. don't let the miniscule size of this establishment fool you. they offer the most amaaaaaazing waffles on the planet. coffee and a waffle will run you about ten bucks, but make sure you bring your appetite....you won't eat for the rest of the day! they're huge!

dough wads!. sorry...the little restaurant looked charming and smelled great. but my waffle was so heavy, wet and doughy. $8 for half a waffle, stingy on the fruit i ordered extra. i wouldn't have minded the cost had it been yummy. but hey, obviously i'm in the minority!

very authentic belgian restaurant. try the many varieties of sauces for a true belgian experience. when weather permits, the rooftop dining enhances the experience that much more.

love this place. great out of the way and friendly staff! how can you complain about sausage and waffles with nutella! sit up top on the roof patio and enjoy a nice evening.

loved it! such a great way to kickoff our salt lake city trip. amazing food, hospitable staff... we will be back. frites were incredible... waffles delicious... so good!

the "bruges favorite" is a 5 x 5 (inches) liege waffle that is pure heaven. the waffle is made with a dough that includes pearl sugar so when cooked it becomes caramelized. add creme fraiche and strawberries and you have an amazing treat, admittedly your sugar allotment for a month. on my next visit to salt lake city, i will be back.

the fries are good, the sausage better, but the waffle is the best. about $13 total for all three, which seems a tad pricey but the food is very, very rich stuff. i enjoyed my stop by this quirky little take-away.

a waffle with cookie butter, ice cream and fresh fruit? yes please! i can't stay away from this place, it's delicious! i dream about these waffles!

i will start by saying the food was tasty. but this is where the positive remarks end.

$15.45 for one small waffle and fries. the waffle we recieved only had a couple strawberries and raspberries (not like the heap of fruit in the photo) what a rip off!

the negative experience began when my wife and i were trying to order (discussing what we should get amongst ourselves). the man who obviously is the owner kept interrupting and interjecting.

then as we were waiting for our food and as we ate, we had to listen to the very unprofessional girls that work there gossiping about co-workers and singing. the one girl was so blatant that she seemed like she was the one running the show (telling the owner he needs to fire the guy who just called in). based on their interactions and how she acted like she was the owner, i can only imagine she is either the dude's daughter or partner.

the girls were so busy gossiping in their own little world that when our food was ready she was waiting for someone to come to the window to fetch the order. we had been sitting in front of her since we placed our order.

aside from it being a huge ripoff, the staff alone is enough to keep me from coming back.

i just love this place to death! the waffles are so crispy from the caramelized sugar, but still so soft and light on the inside. and stuffing it with belgian chocolate, or drizzling it with belgian chocolate, or topping it with vanilla ice cream, or speculoos...it doesn't matter what you do to it; it will be amazing every time. the fries are great too, but nobody should come just for the fries or a sandwich. the liège waffle is king! i love chatting with the staff while we wait as well, and it's fun to sit inside (only a few stools) or outside if the weather's nice.
