that aint no machine gun...that's an rpg!. ever eaten at a place and had one thing so good that would go back there for it endlessly, even though you could get it anywhere else?

ever had that thing be something so simple that you never thought you ever say to anyone that they should get that? like, say...a fried potato?

and then ever had that delicious ingredient put into a top quality baguette with the most heavenly sauce and sausages?

no? then have i got the place for you! prepare yourself for ultimate flavor. if anyone had told me that i'd be raving about a fried potato two years ago i would have thought they were crazy. but wow...those frites are just amazing. it's worth going there just for that. but why stop there? yes...i would like that with spicy sausage and doused in sauce on top of a baguette. the machine gun sandwich is so good that i woke up three days later with a splitting headache and couldn't remember who i was or how i got there.

oh yeh, and the waffles are like nothing you ever had before. unless maybe you were in holland and found some waffles like these. spectacular, particularly when stuffed with chocolate and topped with creme fraiche.

i had high hopes, especially remembering that one year ago i was in belgium enjoying them. maybe i got a bad bunch, but these frites were like the dregs of the fryer, most too small in size.

the machine gun. i had the machine gun today and it is really good grub! the sausage was really spicy but when you throw in the frites and the sauce they put on the top it's all good! the sandwich did cost $10 which is kind of high but the quality is worth it. i would defiantly come here again.

spend the money on waffles. of course i ordered the machine gun after i saw it on man v. food but to tell you the truth, bruges' real magic lies in their belgian waffles.

first the machine gun. it's hyped up because that is the only other thing they have besides waffles and fries. it's an absolute mess to eat. it's basically giant sub/hot dog style sandwich loaded with smaller lamb sausages, topped with fries and their special sauce. again, it is loaded with multiple sausages, not one big one like a hot dog. it's definitely not very eater friendly and the taste while just ok in the beginning started to get very repetitive half way through. i knew the machine gun wasn't all that after i saw tons of locals come in and only order the waffles.

save your stomach space for their waffles! for those who have never had a real belgian waffle, this is not the waffle you get at ihop. liege belgian waffles are yeast raised and dense, topped with a sugary glaze. i had mine filled with melted chocolate on the inside and it was heaven!

stop by here for an awesome dessert. i would plan on taking it on the go because the seating area is small and cramped.

everyone gushes about bruges waffles & frites for a good reason. their frites are delicate and not greasy. just a pleasure in every way. they're light and fluffy and then thud; your perfect frites land in boring ketchup. so, unless bruges waffles & frites offers more vegan options, it's not worth the time or money. unless of course you're in the area and want really amazing frites. i always feel a little kick to my gut when i visit; i want vegan belgian waffles dammit! also, i feel like a douchebag when i say "frites".

the waffle monster, shown above, was a waffle split in half, with warm crunchy specaloos spread inside, along with sliced strawberries and vanilla bean ice cream. wow. wow. wow. i don't think that there are words that can sufficiently how breathtaking the combination of sweet specaloos, tart fresh strawberries, and creamy delicious vanilla bean ice cream were inside this perfect little waffle sandwich. all i can say, is you gotta try it. and i totally get what the big deal about belgian waffles is now!

now the first thing that struck me about the waffles was the appearance of the dough or batter. this is not your ordinary runny batter mix that you poor into a griddle and then cook. i noticed that pierre had a huge cookie sheet lined with fist size balls of gooey dough. everything about this dough and inside the dough was all belgian, especially the pearl sugar he uses. pearl sugar looks like giant grains of sand, and they are mixed in throughout the waffle dough. pierre grabs a ball of this waffle dough with tongs and places it inside a heavy duty waffle iron. upon cooking, the waffle comes out piping hot with the pearl sugar carmelized on the oustide of the waffle. now if you were to stop and eat the waffle right now, the result without any topping whatsoever would be an absolute marvel and revelation. i’ve seen pierre make and sell many waffles straight up. you would be absolutely happy without anything additional. but although delicious, having the waffle plain wouldn’t be as much

great waffles, but way overpriced. i didn't really care for the machine gun sandwich. the bread and sauce were good, but the lamb sausage is gross. the frites by themselves are pretty average, but the sauce makes them amazing.

the desert waffles are the real reason to try this place out. the waffle monster is incredible! but don't be fooled by the name...it's not as big as they'd lead you to believe, and it's grossly overpriced.

i'll definitely be back for more waffles, but the prices will keep me from becoming a regular.

i ate here awhile ago with a couple of friends and we all ordered the machine gun sandwich, it different but absolutely delicious! you had to be paint with this sandwich because it comes with a mound of frites on top so you dip the frites in the andalouse mayo until you can pack some frites around the two or three sausages then take a big bite! you won't be disappointed!! i will go back again and again! check them out!
