big catch sushi

the place is located in a multicultural market, with many different kind of delicious food surrounding it. my girlfriend is extremely happy with the long range paging system so that she can browsing and bought some other stuff while waiting for our sushi meal. the pony tail japanese waiter is super nice, excellent service and well guide on how to eat japanese food. we tipped a lot for the great services. food is awesome, best prawn tempura so far in calgary! sushi are very nice too. green tea tho, only from a tea bag in a once use plastic cup which is below the average level of japanese restaurants. but this place technically is not a restaurant but more like a food court store, but their food and service are way much better than a normal food court. the price is cheaper than average japanese restaurants, which is also a reason why i rate 5.0. overall, i'm highly recommend people come to this place for takeout or dinner.

delicious sushi place tucked inside the market on mcleod building that offers some of the city's freshest pieces of fish. ran by two brothers, big catch has an intimate feel to their stall, which was reflected quite well in the friendliness of the service, and the care put into the presentation of each dish. the sockeye salmon sashimi was incredibly fresh, and the tuna sashimi felt like it was melting in my mouth. the rolls were a great combination of different tastes, and definitely memorable, making this joint a destination for the sushi lovers of yyc!

excellent "sushi grade"! the fish is never fishy, the rice is always perfect. the staff are actually japanese! the pricing is fair for what's served. not located in a high end setting which is great because sushi in japan is like hot dog carts in front of the sky dome.

really great food with really great people working there. i took half a star off because the hours are kinda wonky. i know the place is located in a food court, but they do take some time as the place is small and they make everything fresh. they give you a buzzer so you can walk around the farmer's market while waiting for your food. presentation of the food is also really lovely, i would definitely go back and recommend to many.

took a bit to find as it's part of a small market. the guy serving us was very friendly and made conversation with us. gave us tips on how to drink the ramune, and suggestions on what to choose as it was our first time. sushi was beautifully presented and tasted absolutely amazing.

i've been here a dozen times and they are still one of the best sushi places i've tried. the staff are super friendly and accommodating. food is fresh and delicious. they have a fairly decent sized menu, considering they mostly do take out.

really good value! the owners and staff obviously take pride in their work and it shows in appearance and taste of food.

i love their sushi as well as the friendly service. everything is made to order so be prepared to wait. this is quality sushi in a market setting and i love it.

this place is delicious! i am not at that farmers very often but when i do good i definitely make sure to save room for this place. the sushi is tasty and all the ingredients are fresh. it does take a while sometimes to get your food but it's not an issue if you order and walk around. it's helpful that they give those things to carry around that let you know when your food is ready!

hidden away inside the market on macleod building this place serves up some of the best sushi in town. i will be back when i'm back in town for sure.

i needed to check this place out because it has the highest ratings on zomato. i'm giving big catch a 4 mainly because of the price. $11.75 for 9 small pieces is a bit much. the rodeo rider (that was featured in avenue magazine) was hands down one of the best rolls they have, but not the best roll i've had in this area. we ended up getting another rodeo rider to go though because we really enjoyed it. service was amazing, staff were extremely friendly and attentive. they have a stamp card for every $10 you spend, you get a stamp. when you collect 15 stamps, you get a free roll, so i guess it kind of makes up for the pricey menu. it's too bad this is at a farmer's market and not a restaurant though, they open wednesdays to sundays and they close at 7pm, i wish the hours were better!

first time visit and the sushi is amazing! new favorite spot and so happy it's close to home. chef/owner is very kind and makes sure you leave satisfied. will definitely come back and support the brothers!

actually i have to say that i was surprised finding out this place is not even a large restaurant. however, the food, the service is excellent!! they're really patient and friendly. they make the best sushi in town personally speaking. love it!

big catch has to be the best sushi spot in the south of calgary and they're not even a large restaurant. just a group of friendly guys providing great quality sushi at a reasonable price.

they mainly have an assortment of rolls on their menu and i've been pleased with each one i've ordered. there's good quality fish and seafood in each, interesting sweet and spicy sauces, and my personal favourite, liberal use of garlic chips, wonton bits and crispy onions. the ingredients are innovative and unique and compliment each other well.

if i have to make a recommendation i'll normally get a roll of the meteor rain because the torched salmon and mixed spicy have such a unique flavour to them or i'll get the rodeo rider for the textures and flavours used with the wonton bits and garlic chips.

at lunch, it might take a while to get your meal because it's a popular spot and there's only a few guys making the dishes. so patience is really needed. one great thing? they're often open later than the actual farmer's market so they're fantastic for calling in and getting a platter to go.

the sushi is always fresh here, one of the best in the city. the side dishes are great as well. prices are reasonable for the quality you get. highly recommended.

this place was so delicious!!!! the sushi was great! the price was reasonable! the presentation was on point! i would highly recommend this place and would definitely come back! the customer service was also amazing! the only thing i would say is that be aware that this location is inside the farmer's market! it isn't its own building/ restaurant! it has a booth and some tables set out! definitely had some confusion finding the location!
