big catch sushi

i had a great experience at big catch sushi. although it's just a stand in the kingsland farmers market, i really felt as though i was dining in an actual restaurant. the staff were superfriendlyand even brought the sushi to our table. once in a while, they would come to our table and make sure that we were enjoying our meal. on their menu they have an assortment of interesting rolls. it was difficult to decide which ones to try. the roll i enjoyed the most during my visit was the zesty avalanche roll. i enjoyed how fresh the fish and rice tasted. their miso soup is just as delicious. the attention to detail when it comes to plating is impressive. i'm definitely coming back to try the rest of their menu!

big on taste!. my favourite sushi place n i have tried a lot! superfriendlystaff and great tasting sashimi. i usually don't order rolls, theirs are delicious w interesting combinations. a must try!

i honestly had never seen service so attentive,friendlyand generous. these guys do an outstanding job of making your dine-in experience as good as that of a high end restaurant, even though you're just sitting in a food court at the farmer's market. they also offer take away and were constantly having customers come in to pick up orders while my friends and i ate and people watched. each roll was better than the last, delicious fresh fish, good rice to filling ratio, and incredibly artistic and enticing plating. can't wait for my next visit!

came here last night as we wanted to try a new sushi place. the staff are all veryfriendlyand want to make sure you are enjoying your food and drinks. the space has a minimalist design and is very cute. their menu is limited, but they make up for it by having very tasty sushi that is plated incredibly. will definitely be back to try the other menu items.

absolutely delicious!!!! everything is fresh and presented so beautifully. super tasty andfriendlyservice. will definitely come back.. just hoping they would have better stores times.

the guys that run this place are the nicest and mostfriendlyguys. i really respect the care they put into running their business. they consistently pump out very high quality fresh food.  i've been here probably 30 times and i've never not enjoyed my food. they are really nice to mom who goes a lot more often then i do and that kind of thing really means a lot to me.  they are always adding new menu items and usually have interesting features.

i have come here every thursday for the past year, and it's the most delicious sushi in yyc. big catch never fails to impress me — from thefriendlycustomer service to the beautiful dragon roll presentation. yum!

took a bit to find as it's part of a small market. the guy serving us was veryfriendlyand made conversation with us. gave us tips on how to drink the ramune, and suggestions on what to choose as it was our first time. sushi was beautifully presented and tasted absolutely amazing.

i've been here a dozen times and they are still one of the best sushi places i've tried. the staff are superfriendlyand accommodating. food is fresh and delicious. they have a fairly decent sized menu, considering they mostly do take out.

really good value! the owners and staff obviously take pride in their work and it shows in appearance and taste of food.

i love their sushi as well as thefriendlyservice. everything is made to order so be prepared to wait. this is quality sushi in a market setting and i love it.

i needed to check this place out because it has the highest ratings on zomato. i'm giving big catch a 4 mainly because of the price. $11.75 for 9 small pieces is a bit much. the rodeo rider (that was featured in avenue magazine) was hands down one of the best rolls they have, but not the best roll i've had in this area. we ended up getting another rodeo rider to go though because we really enjoyed it. service was amazing, staff were extremelyfriendlyand attentive. they have a stamp card for every $10 you spend, you get a stamp. when you collect 15 stamps, you get a free roll, so i guess it kind of makes up for the pricey menu. it's too bad this is at a farmer's market and not a restaurant though, they open wednesdays to sundays and they close at 7pm, i wish the hours were better!

big catch has to be the best sushi spot in the south of calgary and they're not even a large restaurant. just a group offriendlyguys providing great quality sushi at a reasonable price.

they mainly have an assortment of rolls on their menu and i've been pleased with each one i've ordered. there's good quality fish and seafood in each, interesting sweet and spicy sauces, and my personal favourite, liberal use of garlic chips, wonton bits and crispy onions. the ingredients are innovative and unique and compliment each other well.

if i have to make a recommendation i'll normally get a roll of the meteor rain because the torched salmon and mixed spicy have such a unique flavour to them or i'll get the rodeo rider for the textures and flavours used with the wonton bits and garlic chips.

at lunch, it might take a while to get your meal because it's a popular spot and there's only a few guys making the dishes. so patience is really needed. one great thing? they're often open later than the actual farmer's market so they're fantastic for calling in and getting a platter to go.

wonderful staff; possibly over-hyped. it's a rare treat when we can enjoy sushi in calgary, so we had to try the most popular place. attracted to the outstanding ratings here, i think higher expectations were to be expected.
the staff were absolutelyfriendlyand had great smiles. the presentation of the dishes were meticulous and beautiful. however, i felt that the quality of the dishes were just good. the unagi roll was slightly unusual because it was the first time that i had eel with a fishy taste.

fresh great tasting food with excellent service. being used to sushi offerings from vancouver, i'm usually weary to try local sushi places. big catch had great reviews so i thought why not give it a shot. ordered take-out and it was prepared on time and the cashier was veryfriendlyand explaining things such as that they package sauces for the spicy rolls separate to prevent sogginess. their prices are very reasonable and the fish is very fresh. you can tell their food is prepared with care with one look at their chefs. definitely would recommend it to anyone who is looking for great sushi!

amazing, as always. i was just there today and i don't know what the reviewer below me is talking about because it was absolutely amazing as always. and i come with pictures this time.
i had half rodeo rider and half nine one one rolls, along with salmon miso and full order tuna tataki. the rolls were perfect, as always (i took the picture at a funny angle because i already ate a roll before i could take the picture... couldn't help myself!), i've never had anything less than perfect from them. the tataki is always a favourite, the tuna is perfectly (lightly) seared and flavoured. as for the salmon miso? i haven't been able to go back to regular miso. the little salmon dumplings are so packed full of flavour, they're the perfect addition to the soup.
as i (probably) said in a previous review... i used to live in tokyo and upon coming back to canada, i've found it nearly impossible to find sushi that compares to what it is in japan. big catch is so authentic in presentation and taste i don't think i'll have to go back to visit overseas to get my food fix. and the staff are always incrediblyfriendlyand attentive. if you haven't been yet, stop delaying and get yourself to the market to try them out!!!!!

amazing. having lived in japan before, i am -very- picky with sushi/sashimi/japanese food in general. big catch has the best sushi in calgary, hands down. its fresh, authentic, and delicious. i've tried nearly everything on the menu and have never been disappointed. my favourites are meteor rain, rodeo rider, nine one one, and god of wind. and the tuna tataki is ridiculously good. amazing food combined with the superfriendlystaff makes big catch is the place you need to go for your sushi.
