a simple authentic assamese cuisine restaurant with traditional touch in it. the food is tasty and it reminds oneself of its traditional roots. even the items in the menu is remarkable. but the service is really slow and is not so special as one should except. even the sitting arrangement is not so special. and finally the plating, they seriously need to work on it, a few plating technique will really lead them to the chart. but still it's food that matters and to me, the food was really good and i really liked the bamboo shoot and would loved to visit again.

having landed in guwahati with a craving for assamese food we went in here with high expectations. the restaurant did not fail to impress. we ordered three vegetarian thali and the chicken with sesame seeds. the three dals were just too good - very homely just as dals are supposed to be. i throughly enjoyed the mashed potatoes that were done in the assamese way. but the icing in the cake was the chicken wth sesame seeds. what flavour and aroma. mind blown! the staff was courteous and were disheartened yo see us not finish the chicken. we were disheartened ad well but with a full day of travel we just couldn’t stomach any more food. the portions thus are really good. overall - excellent food, well mannered staff, great portions and budget friendly makes this place a must visit for assamese food

ok, firstly the positive points are good menu, good selection of ingredients, good taste, quantity of food is good, prices are quite reasonable! but negative points are poor service, takes a lot of time to serve, the place remains too crowded at lunch time, the place is not spacious, some times some items are not available.
anyways if u want to taste a typical assamese thali, the place is perfect. you'll like the taste and quantity of food.

this assamese delicacy, maasor pitika, is one of my personal favourites with rice.

my tastebuds say- 4.5/5

this is only one yummilicious item from bhut jolokia's menu, they've got loads of others like chicken khorikaa (fire-roasted chicken), duck meat , veg-non veg thalis, etc. one of the best restaurants in #guwahati for assamese cuisine, and a must try for visitors wanting to taste local food in assam.

went there with uncle's family and cousins. after being to khorika, had the nearly same expectation from this place as well. but the ambience turned out to be a better one. the sitting arrangement was good, chairs and tables had the bamboo feeling. the walls too were well-decorated. after sitting down, the waiters gave some pretty good suggestions about the menu, as we didn't want to opt for thali. we ordered steamed rice along with chicken dishes and pork fry with bamboo shoots. both the dishes were pretty tasty and up to the expectation. in fact, it was perhaps a bit better than khorika. the fish dishes too were good. but the waiting time was a bit longer, and it took around 45 minutes to 1 hour to get the dishes served. but the food quality and the value-for-money balances it.
a must visit.

in brief:
food: 4/5
service: 4/5
ambience: 4/5
value for money: 4/5

this is a treasure island for meat lovers. pigeon on black pepper, roasted duck, pork with sesame seeds and bamboo shoot. absolutely mouthwatering. the servings are big enough. sprinkle some local bamboo pickle with large servings of bhut jalakiya and it's heaven. i've had non veg food across india but my hometown has possibly now the best selection of exotic meat. if you hate chicken, you must come here.

it had been a long time visiting bhut jolokia so i thought of visiting there for lunch today. i visited this place after 2 years and i had a terrible experience there. the quality of the food changed drastically. i ordered for pork thali and the pork was flavored with bamboo shoot. i must tell it only consisted of pork fats not a single piece of meat was found . the curry's consistency was made with rice flour and it tasted 'awful'. even the pork was not fresh at all. in the fish thali too they used the same curry. i don't know how they can cook two different things in similar patterns. they just thought pork bamboo shoot is adding bamboo shoot to any of the curries. i will never prefer bhut jolokia for ethnic food again. terrible lunch. the ambience and service was average .
