bhut jolokia is a traditional assamese restaurant  so  i  organized my son birthday party on 6 aug`16 … but i am very dissatisfied and upset  for service and management of this restaurant
.

they missed some item from menu as per agreement … fish was totally smelly …and many more …… but they charged  full amount as per our  agreement..

bhut jolokia . a traditional assamese restaurant located on zoo road in heart of guwahati. the word bhut jolokia literally refers to the world's spiciest chili. although bhut means ghost; but it is signifying the strength of chilli.

this restaurant is run by assam's most celebrated chef atul . it serves up traditional assamese dishes to its customer .

his restaurant serves up an array of traditional dishes which one will always remember.

a wide variety of meat is used including chicken, mutton, pork and also the fish dishes is a must try.

these dishes are made from freshly prepared spice blends and also there are the super hot variants for those who want to ttest their mettle .

it is perfect location to enjoy a wonderful experience for those who want to try out traditional assamese dishes .

i came to know that chef atul also runs khorisa restaurant . a runoff of his chain which also serves up beautiful assamese dishes . served in traditional bronze vessels which add a zing to assamese tag.

a visit to this ethnic restaurant during bohag bihu left me with mixed feelings... me and my friend decided to try this one after having tried almost all other ethnic outlets in the city...
nothing sort of welcoming decoration on bihu disappointed me... after we sat down we noticed only one waiter was serving all the tables... we opted for 2 veg akhaj along with chicken with sesame seeds, duck with gourd and small fish steamed in banana leaf.. however we were told that the latter 2 dishes were not available...
we had to be confined with duck with potato curry and skipped the fish section... serving was ok but i felt the use of plastic dishes in an ethnic restaurant was something to be looked into...
the chicken and duck dishes tasted great but the veg thalis had nothing special and the mixed veg tasted horrible... moreover the complimentary kharoli and kahoodi were missing...

i have seen a lot of criticism for this food court but i believe this is one of the best restaurants serving assamese platter. we had veg thali which was completely worth its cost. also the chicken aloo recipe was sumptuous for a hungry tummy. in terms of hospitality, the place stands good. overall, a very pocket friendly of the ethnic serving restaurants.

another niche restro from the atul lahkars stable. every item cooking style , decor and even the washrooms remains the same with khorika or the heritage khorika . location is good but there the small steep iron  steps leading to the restro might not encourage too many many on the higher age group. i have tasted most of the items be it pork khoika style or the hahor manxo but nothing extraordinary just same taste like khorika or heritage khorika. i was never able to taste the dessert because they( the management ) give an excuse that no dessert available for the day. the washrooms are a depressing it just spoils the mood narrow and dirty just gives the impression of a line hotel. atul da a lot has to be done about the washrooms it just stinks be it khorika , heritage khorika or even bhoot jolokia. it totally spoils the good flavour of our food. this is one reason i have rated this restro very lowly.

please never visit this place. cook in your own home instead or go to a different restaurant or don't even go out but do not come here. horrible experience. tasteless food served cold with quantity too less and price comparatively too high. i went here with my family. and we sweared in the name of god never to step here.not recommended.

while writing this review the 1st word came to my mind is hot.. not the ambience bt their special dishes with famous bhut jolokia(king chilli). i heard a lot about this place from my friends and as a spicy dish lover and kind of addicted to chillies i always wanted to visit this place. so when i visited the place 1st thing i have ordered was chicken curry cooked with king chilli..along with their normal vegetable thali (plater) and small fish fries. chicken curry was very basic but the king chillies took it to an extra level. the aroma itself was very mouth watering for a spice lover like me..it was really yummy and really really very hot..i must admit i haven't dared to take more than two piece of chiken and a little bit of curry..if you don't eat spicy than definitely stay away from it. other items of thali was good too..but i didn't liked the fish item. it was not fresh and tasty.. i would like to visit this place to taste the other items of their menu. thank you for the pics @uddipana kalita..:-)
