i will start with the ambience first which was not so good. they can do better in that field. there was a peculiar smell of bamboo shoots coming from the kitchen which was big minus point. the food was "theek thak". they can get better plates and furnitures. all they need is a little grooming up and some brushing, and they are back for competition.

decent place to sample traditional assamese cuisine spiced with the hottest chill in the world (bhut jolokia) on request. décor done in a traditional assamese village house with bamboo. decent pricing and service. they serve all the traditional duck, pegion, pork and chicken dishes. sadly this place closed down for reasons unknown to me.

a simple assamese cuisine. not the best tasted.
food was fresh, hygienic and very less spicy.
ambience was good with many ethnic pictures and goods hanging around everywhere.
reasonable rates but a little improvement in the quality of food would be appreciated. overall an average experience.

food was ok but serving was horrible. we were surprised to see the standard of utensils used for serving food.hope chef mr. lahkar gives some attention to this aspect if he is really looks after this resturent.surprised to see the big menu but unfortunately only two types of fish was ready and lot of other items including non-veg thali was not there. request to cut the menu and please make sure the availability.

if u r searching for some good authentic assamese food than it is definately "not" the right place.... the meat dishes are full of every kind of masala...unlike assamese simple taste. poor service makes it more bad...

bhoot jolokia...as the name suggests, m sure it doesn't need any more elaboration. chef atul lahkar did a gud job, a decent place to eat out, staffs pretty courteous. now coming to the real deal, i did visit quite a few times there and i cant complain actually. i love chilies and the strong aroma u encounter once u enter the restaurant is simply tummy gurgling. i go there for the special bhoot jolokia items, trust me u gotta try them. i am sure you can literally feel smoke coming out of ur ears :p n the funniest part, once you order the menu containing bhoot jolokia, the waiter will warn you, seems its mandatory for all :d food is ok..but then its famous for its trademark items. can b termed as budget restaurant, dats what i feel. overall , its a must try for all those chilli enthusiast . :)

tip for tummy : what can i say ...once u try king of chilies :p

the place is too crowded. ordinary taste, nothing special in the dishes and which can be found in any other assamese restaurant. service by attendants is poor too. vast change is required!!

bhut jolokia - don't go by its name. probably the worst assamese cuisine restaurant i ever had. the food was very blend. not even the aloo pitika tasted good. forget the other assamese items. what saved the day though was the pork fry. the pork was well cooked with good mix of masalas and onions all over it. overall, a very average lunch. rather below average i would say had it not been for the pork fry.

was a random day a thought of having authentic assamese food...
so was searching and came through this restaurant and i had heard before that the restaurant served quite good food.
so we hoped in and found the restaurant was quite small but had a homely feeling to it. the chairs were made out of bamboo and the staff were quite helpful.
the food was overall good.
the best part was the duck meat in black gram dal. it was just superb and we ordered another of it as my stomach was not satisfied. it made me feel nostalgic as my grand mom used to prepare the same.
lastly had payash which was not disappointing either.

visited this place today and the first thing i want to write about is the service; the time taken to serve the food was absolutely unacceptable! they took one hour to serve their signature dishes( akhaj platter-thali and pork with bamboo shoot) this is the longest i have had to wait in a restaurant for ordering the most generic thing on the menu and to top it off, i was alone, cant imagine how much time they would take to serve a family. i had a talk with the manager and he said that they were shorthanded since one of the staff guys fainted due to the heat, but in my opinion that still doesnt exempt them from the ridiculous service time.
now coming to the food, the food was pretty good to be honest, its your generic assamese food and the flavors are all there, the thali is very reasonably priced (rs. 80) and the pork was around (rs. 190), they also give additional rice dal etc free of cost. the ambience was good but nothing spectacular, however the place is quite small and there were a lot of people waiting for their turn to eat, it was packed to the brim.
i was expecting the food to be a little better but it was still pretty good, and had it not been for the service i would have rated it a 3.5/5. hopefully the service is better on other days and other eaters dont face the dilemma i had to go through.

service: 1/5
food: 3.5/5
ambiance: 3/5

when i first heard about this place and the person who started it, i was very excited about the prospect of giving the place a visit. the place is a nicely designed one with bamboo works, but the space is limited. the menu is no different from other assamese cuisine restaurants apart from a few ones that many will overlook. taste is sure the same that can be found anywhere. after visiting once or twice i lost interest in it entirely.

good place around here to get some of cultural food, mainly assamese make you feel you are at home.i rate this 4/5 as i found it overall good from food to price, you will get a tasty veg akhaj with a price of just rs70 and you will fell you need not need to order for any additional dishes as you will get everything in that included the food is so tasty that you dont feel like coming out.this is what you get when you come to chef atul lakhar's door, this one is probably his third after opening khorikaa and king chilly all are well known for there outstanding assamese food in guwahati.

ambience : 3/5
when you enter you mayfind little out of space to settle as this place is little small as per its reputation, but you will not feel uncomfortable, due to its location you my find yourself in a busy environment but its all good when you settle down .this place is well maintained and is clean and properly arranged.

service : 3.5/5

the service provided is friendly its good as its help one to feel comfortable good for them but they takes time to serve though its common in this type of places ,its will be good if they try to serve little faster than the regularly ,overall it was fine you will have no complains with the service.

value for money : 4.5/5

the price they have set for food they serve is very low for that standard of food quality ,you will be oversatisfied.

overall rateing: 4/5

i am glad to rate 4 /5 becuse i found nothing wrong with anything ,importantly food should be good and you will get best out here ,if guys like to try traditional assamese food ,i will love to refer you to come here .
