went there with uncle's family and cousins. after being to khorika, had the nearly same expectation from this place as well. but the ambience turned out to be a better one. the sitting arrangement was good, chairs and tables had the bamboo feeling. the walls too were well-decorated. after sitting down, the waiters gave some pretty good suggestions about the menu, as we didn't want to opt for thali. we ordered steamed rice along with chicken dishes and pork fry with bamboo shoots. both the dishes were pretty tasty and up to the expectation. in fact, it was perhaps a bit better than khorika. thefishdishes too were good. but the waiting time was a bit longer, and it took around 45 minutes to 1 hour to get the dishes served. but the food quality and the value-for-money balances it.
a must visit.

in brief:
food: 4/5
service: 4/5
ambience: 4/5
value for money: 4/5

it had been a long time visiting bhut jolokia so i thought of visiting there for lunch today. i visited this place after 2 years and i had a terrible experience there. the quality of the food changed drastically. i ordered for pork thali and the pork was flavored with bamboo shoot. i must tell it only consisted of pork fats not a single piece of meat was found . the curry's consistency was made with rice flour and it tasted 'awful'. even the pork was not fresh at all. in thefishthali too they used the same curry. i don't know how they can cook two different things in similar patterns. they just thought pork bamboo shoot is adding bamboo shoot to any of the curries. i will never prefer bhut jolokia for ethnic food again. terrible lunch. the ambience and service was average .

bhut jolokia . a traditional assamese restaurant located on zoo road in heart of guwahati. the word bhut jolokia literally refers to the world's spiciest chili. although bhut means ghost; but it is signifying the strength of chilli.

this restaurant is run by assam's most celebrated chef atul . it serves up traditional assamese dishes to its customer .

his restaurant serves up an array of traditional dishes which one will always remember.

a wide variety of meat is used including chicken, mutton, pork and also thefishdishes is a must try.

these dishes are made from freshly prepared spice blends and also there are the super hot variants for those who want to ttest their mettle .

it is perfect location to enjoy a wonderful experience for those who want to try out traditional assamese dishes .

i came to know that chef atul also runs khorisa restaurant . a runoff of his chain which also serves up beautiful assamese dishes . served in traditional bronze vessels which add a zing to assamese tag.

a visit to this ethnic restaurant during bohag bihu left me with mixed feelings... me and my friend decided to try this one after having tried almost all other ethnic outlets in the city...
nothing sort of welcoming decoration on bihu disappointed me... after we sat down we noticed only one waiter was serving all the tables... we opted for 2 veg akhaj along with chicken with sesame seeds, duck with gourd and smallfishsteamed in banana leaf.. however we were told that the latter 2 dishes were not available...
we had to be confined with duck with potato curry and skipped thefishsection... serving was ok but i felt the use of plastic dishes in an ethnic restaurant was something to be looked into...
the chicken and duck dishes tasted great but the veg thalis had nothing special and the mixed veg tasted horrible... moreover the complimentary kharoli and kahoodi were missing...

while writing this review the 1st word came to my mind is hot.. not the ambience bt their special dishes with famous bhut jolokia(king chilli). i heard a lot about this place from my friends and as a spicy dish lover and kind of addicted to chillies i always wanted to visit this place. so when i visited the place 1st thing i have ordered was chicken curry cooked with king chilli..along with their normal vegetable thali (plater) and smallfishfries. chicken curry was very basic but the king chillies took it to an extra level. the aroma itself was very mouth watering for a spice lover like me..it was really yummy and really really very hot..i must admit i haven't dared to take more than two piece of chiken and a little bit of curry..if you don't eat spicy than definitely stay away from it. other items of thali was good too..but i didn't liked thefishitem. it was not fresh and tasty.. i would like to visit this place to taste the other items of their menu. thank you for the pics @uddipana kalita..:-)

the 3rd restaurant to be opened in the city by chef atul lakhar, after king chilly & khorikaa both of which i love. beautiful photos of local women adorn the walls of this eatery.

the assamese veg akhaj (thali) is very good and you won't really feel the need to order any side dishes. but their chicken and pork dishes are outstanding. thefishis always cooked just right. crisp on the outside, soft and tender on the inside.. the spicing is spot on and it definitely makes eating at bhut jholakia a wonderful experience.
