really a great meal and service was outstanding. the potato skins are the best i've ever had, we evenorderedsome to take home, my son had the 14oz rib eye very delicious steak, was kind of disappointed with the chicken fried steak, my wife had salmon and it was wonderful. we will be back soon

to the management:just came from your restaurant, and i regret stopping in. i don't know where to start. the appetizer was good i'll say that; but that's where it stops.iordereda new york strip medium rare this should be no problem this is a steak house, right?  wrong,the steak was brought late and was served cold, i asked for a new steak and the same one was brought to me 15 mins later... you guessed it, cold! the server did not check on me for another 10 minutes. i asked her why she did not follow through with my request and her answer was "i'll check on that" and took my plate yet again. well she returned after another 10 minutes and asks the table (you ready for this)? i quote "any one save room for dessert? so i ask the management how do i answer that? the only reason why you get (1) star is so i can send this review.

wow! the beehive was great. i was at dyess afb for the week and we ate here twice. both times iorderedthe 10 oz. filet mignon medium rare and were outstanding. the salads were fresh delicious as were the sides. the wait staff and owner have great personalities and the customer service is top notch. when in abilene eat here. you won't regret it!

overrated. we were greeted and sat promptly as we walked in. the first thing i noticed were the chairs and how uncomfortable they were. our drinks were served and huge mason jars and i really liked that. iorderedthe oscar, as well as my husband did. it's a fillet wrapped in bacon topped with crab and sauce. everything was good except the crab on it, they should delete that part of it but keep the bacon and sauce. the choice of sides are extremely limited to baked potato or fries and soup or salad. the baked potato was nothing special, and are so cheap...so why were they charging so much per plate? my husband and i both got salads, iorderedthe cesar and heorderedthe beehive salad. my husband said his was okay but nothing compare to perini's salad. my cesar salad was the worst i've ever had. we will not be giving this place a second chance unless some things change and are given a gift card. lol. my advice, do not waste your money or time on this place.

went there last nite for dinner -excellent! husband had filet-great flavor & fork tender(as filet should be) cooked as ordered. i had steak au poivre-great flavor. the beehive salad was very good & flavorful. the only neg came at dessert.orderedcheesecake & it was very ordinary-did not taste or look homemade. would return to beehive!

wonderful experience. i visited around christmas time for the first time last year to celebrate the end of the semester with friends. iorderedthe grilled chicken breast and it was amazing! their chicken breast was huge and very moist. the staff was very friendly and knowledgable of the menu. i've been dropping hints to my boyfriend to be taken here on a date!!

i dined here while visiting family and was highly disappointed. the service was terrible. after assuring us the wait was 15 minutes both on the phone and in person, the hostesses held us for 45 minutes telling us "they are putting silverware on the table." we were told this twice in 20 minutes after we waited the first 25. once seated, our server seemed indifferent and unattentive; weordereddrinks from the bar that never arrived, even after reminding him. those not drinking alcohol had to ask for refills of tea or water. we allorderedsteaks cooked medium, two steaks came out reasonably well cooked but one came out more on the well
side and one was completely over-cooked/burnt and was sent back. the replacement steak was rare and was sent back again, the third time it was deemed "close enough." cooking issues asside the steak was a disappointment and really lacked flavor. the abysmal service continued as two of our four received their baked potatoes, but two did not. the potatoes were not served until well after the steaks were originally delivered. our server remained distracted and we never saw a manager.

the only saving grace of the evening was the oreo cheesecake, which was excellent. go somewhere else for dinner and have dessert in the bar here.

not so impressed. i think i was expecting more because of the reputation. i'm an avid fan of ahi tuna so iorderedthat. the tuna was incredibly over seasoned with sweet chilli sauce. drowning in sweet chilli sauce. i was expecting a delicate touch but it was heavy-handed and really killed the rich tuna flavor. the music was an amazing touch. live piano was classy.

beehive "the best steak in texas". my wife and i are new to abilene and have heard rave comments about beehive steakhouse. last night we went on our wedding anniversary of 41 years. i was really expecting a great dining experience.
what a disappointment!! the water tasted ok and the baked potato was good ( all baked potatoes are the same ). we had a zucchini and mushroom combo which was very greasy and burnt. i had a 10oz. new york strip medium rare with burgundy mushrooms and 6 jumbo fried shrimp, which we shared. the steak was tough and medium and had a cheap taste. i could only eat 4 bites, the rest we took home and fed to the raccoons that come at night, they will eat anything. the mushrooms tasted funny, clammy, cold and wet.
my wifeordereda 10oz. rib eye loaded with excessive fat and not cooked as ordered. half was over done. the shrimp we shared was very small and had a fishy smell and very oily.
the bill was $88.14 not counting the tip. the waitress did a good job. the guy who brought out our steaks said please cut your steaks to make sure they are cooked right and quickly left before we could do it and never returned. we were so disappointed that it made us feel awful.
we will never go back and will tell all our friends to do the same.

disappointment. we had heard how great beehive was and finally decided to pay it a visit. what a mistake! i don't know if it was just a bad night or what but at those prices we will not return. i must say that our server was fantastic, there was absolutely nothing wrong with the service. the food was a different story, from start to end, it was disappointing...sans the salad and soup. weordereda combination tempura type veggie tray (mushrooms, zucchini, cauliflower, and onion rings). it should have never left the kitchen. it was burned, so soaking with oil that it gleaned. we didn't finish it. next came a $30 hunk of meat and bone that was supposed to be prime rib. it was such an unappetizing looking hunk of grayish looking mystery meat. it looked like it was among a bunch of other meat that was parboiled and left to sit in the water. my wife cut into it, took a bite, and it was cold. she is not one to send food back but had to. she waited a few minutes and a larger piece of disgusting looking flesh was delivered, there was not much difference between it and the first.
iorderedthe oscar beef (it had oscar in its name). it consisted of 3 beef medallions wrapped in bacon, covered with crab and some sort of creamy, yellowish sauce. iorderedit medium (should have been warm and pink), but could see blood oozing from the top of the meat. i cut into it and it was red, not pink. i will admit that it was flavorful and very, very tender. i chose to not send mine back and dug into it a bit more. it would have been a decent meal had it not been covered in crab and the yellow sauce. the crab was mushy and chalky if you can believe it. i've eaten seafood all over the country and overseas and have never had crab that had this texture or consistency. it was also very fishy. the sauce was bitter and sour, not good at all, and had a piece of hair or something in it.
don't plan on getting free soda refills either...ridiculous if you ask me, especially when you are paying prices like these. we were given a piece of free cheesecake and one free soda refill as an honest attempt by our server to offer some sort of compensation. really we should have called a manager over and refused the meals.
needless to say, we won't visit again. i am actually rather angry for paying almost $80 (tip included) for such a disappointing meal.
