good food,goodservice, but somewhat inconsistent. definitely worth trying.

simply the worst. undoubtedly the worst dining experience of my life.
i am a 57 year old business man and spend about 30% of my time on the road. i have eaten at thousands of restaurants and 95% i enjoy local restaurants. on may 15, 2015, we went to the beehive restaurant and saloon after seeing several favorable reviews.
i asked if i could substitute in veggies for the baked potato that came with my new york strip i ordered. the waiter no substitutions allowed but i could order them separately. the steaks were so peppery it was inedible. my ny strip was very tough. i cut it in several places looking forgoodbites and finally gave up. my wife had 3 bites of her filet mignon and gave up. we spent $80 for a few awful, peppery, tough bites. i asked to speak to the owner (something i've never done before). he came to the table angry and looked at the cut-up steak and said, "you ate it!" i explained it was cut as we looked for edible portions, but he was rude and kept yelling that "you ate it". i actually could not imagine a worst dining experience.

the food was bland, the bread was heat and serve rolls. reminds ofgoodnursing home food. won’t make you sick but also won’t make you come back again.

great steaks! great service! great atmosphere!definitely worth a try. at first i thought the locals were just joking on howgoodthis place is but after trying it i'm convinced. worth the money.

these guys serve the best prime rib (only available on friday and saturday evenings). the fresh horseradish gives the perfectly cooked meat an extra boost.goodservice and delicious desserts too.

wife and i shared the prime rib. very tasty and tender. fantastic! this place was agoodvalue as well. fast and courteous wait staff. i will return next i am in abilene.

to the management:just came from your restaurant, and i regret stopping in. i don't know where to start. the appetizer wasgoodi'll say that; but that's where it stops.i ordered a new york strip medium rare this should be no problem this is a steak house, right?  wrong,the steak was brought late and was served cold, i asked for a new steak and the same one was brought to me 15 mins later... you guessed it, cold! the server did not check on me for another 10 minutes. i asked her why she did not follow through with my request and her answer was "i'll check on that" and took my plate yet again. well she returned after another 10 minutes and asks the table (you ready for this)? i quote "any one save room for dessert? so i ask the management how do i answer that? the only reason why you get (1) star is so i can send this review.

my wife and i read the reviews for the past 6 years and only the recent 2 years has the beehive hadgoodreviews. i love food, speciallygoodfood. we have had one on the best steaks in the area compared to the top contenders. the filet migon and ribeye were superb and cooked to perfection. the owner stopped by and gave me a personal tour of the kitchen. the staff service ( victor ) was excellent. i can't say enough about it. i will return anytime i get a chance to spoil my wife. love this place. very nice.👍🏻

overrated. we were greeted and sat promptly as we walked in. the first thing i noticed were the chairs and how uncomfortable they were. our drinks were served and huge mason jars and i really liked that. i ordered the oscar, as well as my husband did. it's a fillet wrapped in bacon topped with crab and sauce. everything wasgoodexcept the crab on it, they should delete that part of it but keep the bacon and sauce. the choice of sides are extremely limited to baked potato or fries and soup or salad. the baked potato was nothing special, and are so cheap...so why were they charging so much per plate? my husband and i both got salads, i ordered the cesar and he ordered the beehive salad. my husband said his was okay but nothing compare to perini's salad. my cesar salad was the worst i've ever had. we will not be giving this place a second chance unless some things change and are given a gift card. lol. my advice, do not waste your money or time on this place.

went there last nite for dinner -excellent! husband had filet-great flavor & fork tender(as filet should be) cooked as ordered. i had steak au poivre-great flavor. the beehive salad was verygood& flavorful. the only neg came at dessert. ordered cheesecake & it was very ordinary-did not taste or look homemade. would return to beehive!

have always loved this place and picked it for my birthday dinner tonight (11-10-2012). never had an issue until tonight. all the fried food was over cooked and fries served cold. after waiting for so long to get the food most of the kids ate their burnt chicken because we had apparently starved them per their opinion. one of my favorite places in abilene to eat and hope tonight was just a bad night for the kitchen. food was eventually comped but not without some discussion. hope the next trip is asgoodas all my previous.

beehive steakhouse. highest quality food n abilene tx. i'm a big eater and know everygoodplace n town. for great service food and atmosphere this is the place to go!

hostesses are a little dramatic. notgoodwith large parties.

this is some reallygoodeats. you feel like you are enjoying fine cooking at an old friends house.

great for lunch. i like the beehive overall. the lunch specials are great and the burger and chicken sand is really good. it's not my favorite steak in town but i love ordering lamb and other specials. soups are alwaysgoodtoo. the cons: hours are very limited and they only have one phone line i think. sometimes it is hard to even make a reservation. also wish they would give refills on all drinks.
