amadora gourmet ice cream & sorbet

amadora has to be one of my favorite ice cream joints in chennai ! deliciously lip smacking ice cream and desserts. 😋

the hubby surprised me with one of my favorites on his way home the other day — salted butter caramel.

the packaging was good and i received the ice cream without it melting at all. a waffle cone was on the side for me to pop the scoops of ice cream into and then to lick my way to exhilaration!

the only reason amadora lost one star is because of the cone. though it tasted good, there were teeny tiny holes in it from which ice cream was slowly seeping out — the only negative in an otherwise delicious experience. it has happened before too so i don’t think it was an off time. if the cones can be improved a bit, that would be amazing !

amadora - never ending love to this place....perfect place for ice cream and sorbet....this place is one of the best dessert place in the city after your dinner with family & friends....for late night dessert craving too till 12.....loved this place at my first visit, this place is located inside the dead end street use the maps and location to find out place... first time visitors finds difficult to get the place.... i love this place for its dessert and sorbet with various flavours and variety....even celebrities visit here for this love.

first time visitors gets confused what to order and what to select....feel free and ask them what can i try and taste good......most of the flavour there will be good...try those by your taste.

there is a lot of sundae menus combinations of flavours and ingredients they too tasted very good...one such i tried is hail mary.😁

i loved five bean vanilla a lot and mango sorbet and many more...

the staff are friendly and they suggest you if you don’t know what to pick.

one of the finest place to get lost in your desserts.

a first time visitor will surely face a difficulty in finding this place even with a help of google map.

ambience - a very good puzzle liked ambience to have your mouth watering desserts with your friends and loved ones.

i ordered for underbaked choco chunk bar with a scoop of five bean vanilla ice cream and a cone full of trifle pudding ice cream.

underbaked with five bean vanilla - its a bar of choco chunk which is underbaked for it's gooey texture and it's perfect combination is the five bean vanilla ice cream. a spoon of both these cake and ice cream will definitely make you feel like heaven, this has surely became one of my favorite dishes. a must try dish for dessert and choco lovers.

trifle pudding icecream - a sweet cream ice cream layered with pound cake coated with fruit jam make the best combo. the taste was really good and the cake pudding inside the ice cream gives you a extra punch to the taste.

my overall experience was good they have really done justice with their taste. the only thing i felt is the rate was a bit over priced.

i would like to give 4/5 for this place.

amadora is my go-to place for ice cream anyday. best in chennai and they serve some lip smacking ice creams. i often get confused as to which one to choose. so, i ordered the pecan pie ice cream, twix cake and four layer pure indulgence. everything was totally perfect and tasted brilliant.

1) trifle pudding - sweet cream ice cream layered with vannila sponge cake and jam 🧡
2) caramelized white chocolate- white chocolate roasted for a tasty butterscotch and caramel flavor 💛
3) chocolate brownie- chocolate ice cream with chunks of chewy brownie bits 🖤
4) salted butter caramel - butter caramel ice cream with hints of fleur de sel 🍦
costs - 485₹ for each tub (425g)

under baked forever favourite. hands down to the best dessert place in chennai. quality is consistent over the years. for the price paid the quantity could be better.

went in 2 cars to have a dessert after a heavy lunch at home. since my son had already visited the place he directed me to the place quite fast but the other party got  lost and even with help of google maps could land at the place after 10 minutes of us reaching. the place is also located off the main road in a cul de sac and not easy to find.

you have to stand in a sort of queue setup and order at the billing desk and you have to collect the order yourself, in simple terms "self service". the seating is also skewed in favour of the thin  and agile people who can climb on to high chairs. they also have a couple of couches and if you feel that you can sit there then you are in for a surprise, you just sink in there like quick sand and it needs a couple of heavy weights to pull you up. if you don't believe me then here is a task to check on your fitness. sit in the couch, it is hard to miss on the right side as you enter, sit in it till you feel that you have stopped sinking further, cross your arms against your chest and attempt to rise of the couch and if you manage it, you have my permission to congratulate yourself on your fitness and treat yourself to an extra helping of ice cream (at your cost of course).

at the counter when i asked the guy for the menu he just pointed at the wall where the menu was posted. i  perused the menu on the wall and decided that i would order the trifle ice cream and when i ordered the guy taking the order said it was unavailable. ok then i just squared my shoulders and ordered the devil's food cake sundae only to be told that was unavailable too. finally i asked him what was available and out of the things present i ordered the under-baked cake with vanilla ice cream and a 5 bean vanilla cake with raspberry coulis and a caramelized white chocolate shake.

coming to the taste of all the items i tried, the underbaked cake was to my liking,it was a piece of soft chocolate cake served with a scoop of ice cream.

the other cake had a base of dark chocolate sponge at the bottom surmounted by vanilla ice cream decorated with raspberry coulis.

the milk shake was too cloying in taste especially after i tasted the other desserts.

i just don't understand  about the hype around this place. to me it just seems to be an ordinary neighborhood ice cream shop which is difficult to find and the rates  way too high.

i had been wanting to try amadora after reading rave reviews about this place and when my brother asked me to recommend a  good dessert joint after lunch,i readily suggested amadora.
in hindsight it proved to be my bad as future events were to prove.
location: situated in a quiet cul de sac off wallace garden road in a narrow lane so parking is a hassle luckily we had our driver so that was a relief ,still we can go off the beaten path in search of good grub.

ambiance: the seating is predominantly high chairs like bar stools and a couple of low couches both of which didn't suit my mom so we were seated in a small private area with plastic chairs.

service: it is self service and when we ordered at the counter,the guy manning the billing area had no idea of what was available because many of the menu items like the devil' s food sundae,trifle etc were not there.
finally we had to ask them about the actually available desserts and based our order after ascertianing that .
we tried the highly rated underbaked cake with a scoop of ice cream,i chose the smores flavour rather than the regular vanilla.
i expected the cake to have a gooey centre and oozing instead it was a rectangle of soft ,ordinary chocolate cake,very underwhelming!
next tried the 5 vanilla bean raspberry cake which had a thin layer of chocolate cake as a base with vanilla icecream on top decorated with swirls of raspberry coulis.
it was ok.
my sister had the filter coffee ice cream milkshake and she said it was passable with a faint taste of coffee.
they did have a savoury menu so we decided to order some sandwiches when they informed us that they were not available ( should've known!!!) as their chef was off.
seriously ,the management should take care to see that atleast a majority of items should be made available if not why include them in the menu?
as far as the pricing is concerned,a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream sells for around rs 200 + which is pretty high considering the lack of service,usage of paper cups and disposable crockery .
my impression is that amadora is certainly not worth the hype or maybe i just caught them on a off day.

love love n love 💕 loved it .. their underbaked one went well with the five bean vanilla ❤️❤️❤️ so the dark chocolate sorbet was beyond the universe 💕❤️😻

just go to this place and start eating, it's one of the best of the places which serves awesome ice-creams. i lived through the ice creams they served and i'm suggesting you to do the same. never ever miss mud pie and cocoa cake because you don't wanna regret not eating them do you ?? prices could've been pared, i felt it was not pocket friendly but apart from that you can feast yourself with ice creams and stay healthy, stay happy. yum.. yum..!!

very nice home based natural ice creams and sorbet. the strawberry sorbet was my instant favourite. loved the under baked chocolate with five bean vanilla. the service staff was very generous and always with smiles. enjoyed my time here even more. the prices are exorbitant probably bcoz of the high quality natural ice creams they serve.

it's a tad bit pricey, but good things aren't cheap and we're talking about great desserts. love their desserts and especially their underbaked cake.

overpriced. taste is also very average. it just looks good, presentation is good. little tough to locate as google doesn't pin point the right location. so be sure to ask around.

really loved the quality of the cake. definitely going to visit this place again to explore the other varities. the ghee cake will stay in my mind for a long time, best so far that i have tried. the choco crisps were really good and fresh. the quality they maintain is rich and fresh which will definitely make anyone to try more from them.
