for one of the best ice cream joints in the city you have got to try amadora gourmet ice cream & sorbet. the under-baked cake with salted caramel is supposed to be the most appreciated and i personally love the a-cup and the twix cake with any ice cream you can choose from the ice cream corner. very authentic and much loved :')

amadora, nungambakkam:

instead of the usual grind of going to a restaurant having a meal and ending it with desserts, my friends and me thought why not go to a dessert place for a meal. we are looney like that. ha ha! caught you! the actual reason was that we were looking for lunching options way past lunch time (around 4ish) and that's when we remembered the sandwiches from amadora.

usually, i end up regretting my order as my friends orders are always better than mine. but in this case, my order chicken 62 was the best amongst the lot. it was sous vide chicken and hot sauce with mayo. loved it totally. the chicken melt which was a quesedilla with spicy chicken filling was good too. the best tomato sandwich wasn't the best for me, as i can't handle raw tomatoes. just not my type😛

ended the meal with some awesome tres leches cake. divine!

the desserts and cakes are really sweet and they do have a good balance. the flavours are really great and they do have a good menu. recommend having the under baked brownie.

the worst part of this place is the seating. the tables are cute, the couches are comfortable but the chairs are totally out of place. the chairs are not alligned to the tables and are really uncomfortable to carry out a conversation.

totally recommend this place to get good flavours...have to try their sorbets and underbaked brownie..

one of my favourite 'cool' spots in the city! the jigsaw tables, maroon and white walls, cute quotes about ice-creams, what's not to love. the staff are friendly and diligent. you get to taste as many flavours, to ultimately decide the one you want. been an ardent devotee of their salted butter caramel since forever, which is the only one i automatically order two scoops of. else, a single scoop is quite generous. dark chocolate sorbet, raspberry sorbet and madras filter coffee are a few of my other must-haves here. in their baked section, the cocoa cake & underbaked cake are absolute beauties! underbaked with salted caramel is my ideal amadora dessert. the only little problems i've had here are with their ice-cream cake slices, like the mud pie and the white chocolate raspberry (though the raspberry coulis was yum) which were just frigid and difficult to even cut. initially i felt they were quite overpriced, time has proved me wrong. they have the quality and variety that justifies their tag and i've grown to love this place. you don't get all the flavours everyday, it's this kinda rotational menu, be sure to satisfy your ice cream monster here no matter what.

situated in a cozy little place in nungambakkam, amadora is definitely worth atleast as a one time visit to treat your sweet tooth. i had 'hail mary' which was delicious from every perspective of my taste buds! hmmm yum. i usually avoid icecreams as i have very sensitive teeth but the level of coldness on this one was just about right. if you are reading this after hearing/reading about amadora you might already know that all their ice creams are made right there and they are eggless etc etc. sevice, ambience, taste everything were perfect. i was not too happy with the fact that they don't have proper menu cards. they have painted some 8-10 varieties of ice creams and pointed to that wall when we asked for a menu card. they didn't have the waffle icecream one i ordered. i had no clue about how much it costed or how many scoops it would contain. my hudband and i ordered 2 icecreams. we were served 2 huge scoops per order and the bill was rs 800! we didn't know they also served in cups and cones and had other such options. it is self service. fine. but atleast design some menu cards with rates and everything. for the amount you charge you could install ipads in every table with the menu along with some images scrolling on it ;)

i've visited this outlet quite a few times. i usually order their signature dish: the hail mary. five kinds of ice cream with underbaked cake. eating their ice cream is like running a marathon. the first three spoons are exciting. it tastes reaallly good and you want more. and then you hit the wall. the ice cream is waaayyy too rich (thegattificatio maxima). this would be the one weak point of theirs. the taste sticks to your tongue and throat. you won't be able to taste anything sweet for the rest of the day. ibaco's ice cream is clean; the taste washes off after an appropriate time. amadora is filthy in that context. the ambiance is nice albeit a little cramped. the tables are quirky, in the shape of jigsaw puzzle pieces. come here maybe once a month to desensitize your taste buds.

amadora is quite famous for its ice cream but their sorbets are a must try too. the half baked cake just melts in your mouth. their seating could use an upgrade though. other than the couch the high chairs are often uncomfortable.

the staff tried to pull one over on me. i ordered the mud pie ice cream cake to eat there and 3 underbaked as take aways. i left the place, got into an uber and was halfway to my destination when i checked and found only 1 underbaked cake. i had to go back all the way to get the other 2. horrible experience.

amadora is excellent considering the fact they serve delicious ice creams, comprising of a menu which is hardly found in other sweet tooth places. the italthough there are 4 branches of amadora in different directions, i was so keen to make my maiden visit to amadora at nungambakkam.

it was a sunday evening, typical weekend crowd. the location is perfectly poised for people who love to hangout from the buzz of the city. there's plenty of seating and as you step in, your nostrils will get to smell of the melting hot fudge. variety of menu is from sandwiches to ice cream cakes. there's plenty to try!

menu is simple and straight forward and ordering an ice cream or any amadora sandwiches is as simple as that. as they impose self-service, you can take your time at the counter to go through the displayed items and then pay for which you need!

my order: chocolate brownie and brownie.

although the items were similar, the chocolate brownie ice cream was the frozen version where as the brownie was amadora special with no nuts. both were fantastic costing inr 370. although, they are slightly on the higher side, they deserve to charge so considering the taste and variety they offer.

p.s: from the reviews i found underbaked cake is a must try, but it wasn't available there. hoping to visit soon!

eat local, eat fresh!
