this place was disappointing at best. the food was not bad, but it was not good either. not one mouthful made you exclaim, " oh my god that's good!" the portions were as a host embarrassingly small. as i listened to my quest joke about asking for double portions. our server did nothing to enhance our experience. she did her job... and that's it. for a new years eve experience i would never go back. my quests left hungry and joyless. this restaurant must have been designed by a chef, the front of house was open and noisy. it was hard to hear my quests in conversation. the staff seemed confused and should have staggered the reservations so there would not have been a huge ugly line up apon entering and leaving. for the money they charge i will never return, nor would i recommend this restaurant.

pretty to look at but menu and service (our server) sub par at best. not in a hurry to get back again.

the orange emulsion complimented the seafood well, and was bright and acidic. the crispy vegetable slaw of onions and peppers were a nice and a textural different counterpoint to the soft seafood. the perfectly salted serrano ham was light tasting, while the dijon yogurt sauce gave the dish a kick, bringing it to the next level and the juicy melon offset the saltiness of the ham.

not a warehouse, give it a try - very nice!. this place is in a very strange location. the first time i tried to find it i drove past it several times :) it looks like an industrial warehouse or something until you pull up.

once you get inside it is amazing. it is very pretty and the service is great. i always find the bill surprisingly high for what we order but have never left disappointed.

the menu is always changing so i won't bother recommending anything specific to you. i have loved everything i have ever ordered and the wine menu there is always amazing.

we came here for our anniversary. had great service that was quick and friendly. however, the food was sub-par and i do not recommend eating here if you are hungry. portion sizes are small. i ordered the duck confit with duck breast. the sides that came with my dish were so small and the gnocchi was not edible. it wasn't paired well with the duck. it kept upsetting the flow of the meal. i asked for the duck breast to be medium-well and it came out blue-rare. my husband ordered the lamb rare-medium and it was perfect. however, his sides were super small as well. they are creative by using personal sized tajines for the sides but all other sides are served in what look like various sized dip cups. for this reason, the food is way overpriced for the value of what you get on your plate. it doesn't have to be expensive to be good and it sure was expensive. especially after having sent my duck back to the kitchen after i finished my duck confit. all i got was an apology from the server. no offer to re-fire. the service we received was great, the food - not worthy of the price tag (and duck is a regular at our dinner table) leave me with nothing more to say than do not eat here if you are hungry. perhaps a nice first date location if you want to blow $200 on something you won't remember when you find some of calgary's other fine dining restaurants.

alloy had been on my wishlist for a long time, so this was the perfect opportunity to dine here.  i’ve heard only good things about them so i was really looking forward to tonight’s meal.  i have to say it was a bit painful to find this restaurant… the outside does not look like a restaurant at all and if you happen to miss the small red sign right on the lawn… then you will keep driving by it until you go crazy and eventually call the restaurant for directions (like k did).

i came here for dinner on a friday night to celebrate a friends 30th birthday. i drove by the place twice before i found it. they're located next to timbertown. we were offered pita, hummus and olives to snack on while we decided on our meal. i had the ahi tuna starter which was excellent. the tuna was mixed with various herbs and and a drizzle of curry oil. the wonton chips that were served with it were a bit on the oily side though. i had the duck for my main which came with a breast, duck confit ravioli and bitter greens wih a cherry sauce. the breast was done well and the duck confit filling in the ravioli was quite good. i did find the pasta portion of the ravioli to be a bit too thick - it would be better if it was thinner and more delicate. the bitter greens were great although i could've done with less sauce. for dessert i had the white chocolate and strawberry tiramisu. it was good but it was more of a trifle than tiramisu. i did not enjoy the pieces of white chocolate throughout the dessert though. it seemed odd to bite onto hard chunks of chocolate in a smooth and creamy dessert. since it was my friends birthday they took her dessert off the bill which was a very nice gesture. the service was excellent! our server emma was attentive and kept our waters topped up all night.

food was good. however service was really slow. i had informed our server (a redhead woman) that i had an allergy to nuts. she failed to mention that both the hummus and the scallops we ordered had nuts in it, nor did she do anything about it. good thing my friend had warned me before i tried it. please be more careful next time as some people have very severe allergies!!!

lovely food in a lovely room. walking into alloy gives you the feeling of having stepped into an la restaurant. everything looks the part and you are transported out of calgary and into california. the food was delicious. i especially enjoyed the truffled gnocchi which, considering how rich the dish is, was delightfully light and balanced. the brushetta is also a winner. the foccacia is full of herbs and garlic and the homemade cheese is creamy with the right amount of zing needed to brighten up the bread. everything else we had was tasty and beautifully plated. the only thing that confuses me about alloy is its slightly boring cocktail menu. for a restaurant with so much style, i feel as if its cocktails should mirror the space. cocktails aside, the meal was delicious, the space inviting, the service casual yet professional, all together a wonderful evening.

marvelous experience, delicious food, excellent service, and very accommodating. as a celiac, it can be difficult to find restaurants that are accommodating. i was able to order from each section of the menu and the food was fantastic. we ordered the curry and tomato soup, which was a nice medium spicy dish, followed by a beet and blue cheese salad with pecans, which tasted so good when you eat all of the ingredients together. as an entree, we had the chicken served with succotash and polenta. this caused a serious food-gasm. i thought that would be the end of the meal because usually dessert is not an option. we enjoyed a dark chocolate pot du creme at the end of the meal, sheer perfection. our server shelley was very knowledgable about the details of each item on the menu and she was very attentive. i would definitely go back and would gladly recommend this restaurant.

lovely!. this evening was a delight from the start. the serving staff were outstanding!!!! gone were the 20 something bubble heads with embarrassingly short skirts, all were well appointed knowledgeable professionals. the food was quite good, we shared the scallops and the romaine salad both were great. i had the short rib and was not disappointed the beef was braised to perfection, my better half had the duck and was somewhat less than impressed with the duck (common in north america), however, the confit ravioli was brilliant.. we had a great canadian stand by for wine with laughing stock pino gris, i know not a great paring for the beef or duck but dynamite with the salad and the scallops

good start, poor finish. really interesting place, nothing short of a great atmosphere. lousy, over cooked steaks, lobster sausages to be easily forgotten.
