al iwan - burj al arab

sometimes you just enjoy the place, the company and the atmosphere rather than the food itself; this was the case in al iwan restaurant yesterday. some friends were visiting uae and they were guests in burj al arab and they invited us for dinner.
the hospitality of thestaffis remarkably extraordinary, they were treating everyone as if there were no other guests in the place.
i liked the food, yes, but i would've expected more varieties in such a place. i had seafood, shells, and salad.
the atmosphere was cosy and quiet, new experience in dubai for me.
i enjoyed my time with friends and enjoyed the food as well as the service.

hospitablestafffrom the cooks , waiters , restaurant reception, however the food quality does not suit burj al arab at all , the kousa laban rice was not cooked but to be fair the cook offered to cook another fast dish with laban. the labels were mixed up between the hot mezza plates for cheese rolls , kebbeh, spinach and meat so we picked up wrong choices . extra choices needs to be presented for sweets . it was kids birthday but this was mistaken with my birthday which is still in september although i mentioned it while booking that it’s kids birthday :) one small gateaux piece for 4 people looked funny on the table but also to be fair the waiter had a lovely voice singing the birthday song and presented a lovely rose.

this place may be in burj al arab, but you would perhaps get better service in a karama cafeteria. i visited with family for iftar, place was too busy,staffweren’t around to help. food was alright, live music was average and requests to thestaffoften went on deaf ears. all and all, not worth the venue not the price. speaking of the price, we were billed incorrectly and still awaiting our refunds.

went there last night for my husband's birthday, and i must say it was a royal celebration.staffis most courteous with a vast array of delicious food. my personal favorite was the pomegranate chicken. burj al arab itself is so iconic but thestaffmade it a unique experience. special mention to our server sheela and welcomestaffbema and another lady whose name i've forgotten (she was wearing a head scarf). there's a good variety of dishes with lovely red-gold decor. we had a choice to sit with the ocean view but we had a 2 year old so preferred a bit more secluded area :) they also made complimentary food for my son which was very appreciated as he happily ate his fries along with his coloring package.staffhad also arranged cake for my husband's birthday with a rose for me :) overall a dinner worth to splurge on!

excellent arabic food at the burj al arab, the restaurant makes homemade tasty recipes that cannot be compared to any other. thestaffcertainly know how to make you feel special 👌

incredible level of service is what you get at this place. thestaffis the highlight here

being at burj al arab is a luxerious experience all in all. however, the ambience and food variety is something that can't compete anymore with the new places that keep popping up in dubai. food taste is very good.

i can recommend it and may go again

the ambiance is nice and service is good but food is really below average and doesn't justify the price. also the live cooking stations were missing thestaffto actually serve you. but in general i agree with most of the reviews that the food is really not 7star standard and you can get much better arabic cuisine in dubai.

excellent ambience, greatstaffbut again like most of the 5 stars ( in this case 7 stars) food was below average when it comes to taste. they really need to upgrade that cooking level. work needed. common ur burj al arab restaurant!?

a very disappointing experience.

i gave1.5 as some of the food tasted ok else i would have tried to rate as zero.

1- welcoming: very nice with a small shot of egyptian drink (karcadeh).

2- decoration: luscious look even though a bit outdated

3- service: asked for the bread 3 times until we got it. no live cooking station which is usually available in any buffet. i had to cut my shawerma as there was no one there to serve it, same for the roast beef.

the worst is that most of the plates were empty and no one bothered to fill. basically service was below average.

4- variety of food: below average compared to other restaurantsin uae. the funny thing was when the nice welcomingstaffwas showing us the buffet, and she said "on the right hand is the sea food" ..... what sea food? smoked salmon? and baby crabs with no meat displayed in a very lousy way? or the tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce and labneh?? the salmon was 100% that package that they sell in supermarkets for 22 dirham which comes buy one get one free... very lousy quality.

5- food quality: some was ok, some was below average and others were good. nothing was outstanding

6- food display: will be very frank and say that my maid can display food in a better way!!!

7- value for money: not worth it at all. this should not cost more than aed100.

really really disappointed with the variety of the food. ok so when i reserved my table on the phone they said they will send me a confirmation email which they didn't. then on the entrance the security guard wanted to see the booking reference. but any ways he let me in. when i was entering the view was to die for. thestaffwas very humble and nice they gave us welcome drink which was nice. but the decor didn't excite me at all. then the waiter shows us around the buffet 2 salad station no live cooking station if i count maybe 10 main course dishes. and dessert 😣 if anyone knows those arabic sweet shops where they wrap gifts and all! yeah so that was the sweet counter for us and two hot desserts, umali which was nice and thats it. and yes they bought grills on our table freshly made for which i was impressed but again no taste what so ever. and 1ltr bottle of water costs you 55 dhs. do not recommend to anyone save your money and do research you will find decent places in half the price from here with great food. my recommendation giardino in versace. so much better with vast variety.

beautiful restaurant nicely designed and decorated. i loved the ambiance. it's warm and relaxing. everything is perfectly set up. we felt welcomed all time. food was great.staffwere professional. service was excellent. a bit overpriced.

this is one of the best restaurant i've visit so far in terms of the place which is located at the iconic burj al arab, i really loved the place, great ambience and very welcoming staff. food is purely arabic. many options to choose from main course to dessert in the buffet section. i had a great experience in this restaurant on which thestaffwill treat you like a vip.

burj al arab known for luxury and class being a 7 star hotel houses many restaurants out of which is this arabic , al iwan .
extremely luxurious interiors, comfortable seating which also has a view facing the sea. a very calm and tranquil place.
hospitality went above my expectations. each and everystaffwere polite , courteous , pleasant and had an eye to detail. we had small kids so their baby sear were laid down very beautifully with the table preset for them. this was very impressive. also, services like one being approached to hang their handbags on the edge of the tables were little element of surprise. they went extra mile to arrange snacks for the kids as per their choice. the food was explained to us (depicts their product knowledge). basically i found not a monotonous service but humans offering hospitality humbly .
the buffet was very presentable , clean and hygienic. 1 chef was constantly near the buffet to help us with the dishes and recommendations.
the food i found wasn't any extra ordinary . have tasted the same at many places. less options for vegetarians , especially main course.
if you choose to visit this place , surely come for the service where they will make you feel like a king and of course the ambience and venue.
a very well done job to this team. certainly under pressure being located inside burj al arab to keep the fame, but still won my heart. hope the food which we pay so much for improves.

best experience ever. fine dining that you would expect in the most luxurious hotel on earth. mr. ashran was very helpful and all thestaffare polite and hospitable.
