i ordered delivery because i'm not from saskatoon and needed food! they charge $5 for delivery which is fair and has no minimum amount you need to spend to get your food delivered. they said it'd take around 45 min for the food but it only took 30 min. the food was pretty good. i don't recommend getting the beef brisket soup for anyone who isn't familiar with chinese food. the seafood with veges was really yummy. there were lots of seafood (certainly more than what i was expecting)!

great chinese food.. i love this place. when you enter this place it takes the server to notice you and get you a seat in less than 2 mins. i have never stood for more than 2 mins.... i love their service & their food. dont expect a very upscale service this place runs on their food quality.. not a huge drinks menu. but you get cheap beer.
you will never be disappointed.
i have never tried their dimsum but i have only heard good things about it.

cheers

whatever. yip hongs is the best dim sum in saskatoon.
except when you get those waitress'always asking you if you want the same thing again, evn though they know that you've already had it, like after asking twice you should get it through you head that we don't need that.
also they should stop at every single table to ask if you would like something, but when they repeatly skip your table, that when we stop going for several weeks at a time.

congee, tripe, chicken feet = breakfast!. i just finished a full review on their newest competition in city on my blog. i will say yip hong still has a very slight edge in the dim sum department but certainly the 'other' place has a solid dinner menu, offering a variety of dishes and style more commonly seen in major cities.

i have dim sum weekly and have lately been going back and forth to both places. yip hong's dim sum is certainly comparable to calgary, vancouver and even hong kong. they maintain a lot of consistency in their dim sum and it's always fresh due to the high turnover. i will say for those allergic to msg to be alert and that goes for dinner as well. otherwise, everyone else is spot on in the reviews!

first time there this weekend. if you want authentic chinese this is your place. never had hot n sour soup, wealthy man rice (i think), eggplant dish, crispy noodle dish and couple more plates but all were very different yet very good. most chinese us canadians are used to does not compare to these palette dazzling foods. can't wait to go try creamy seafood and chicken feet. young nephews loved it too.

this is a long comment but worth reading to the end. i had been a huge fan of yip hong on 8th street. after they moved to stonebridge, it seemed like some of my favorite dishes didn’t taste as good. on one of my many visits to yip hong, i was asked “how was my meal?” i responded that that a couple of my favorite dishes didn’t taste as good. i asked if there was a change in the way they were making those food items. the owner said to me “you’re not a regular” he pointed to an asian man standing behind me and said, “he’s a regular!” he continued to repeat to me, “you’re not a regular.” i felt like he was being racist saying that, because i wasn’t asian, how could i know how the food should taste. after all, i was not a regular. there was no apology for the poor food experience that i had. i didn’t expect a discount, i was just responding, honestly and based on my many past experiences, to how the food tasted that day.

i have never gone back to yip hong since that day and i never will. i won’t give any of my money to a business that is soo rude and unapologetic, never mind, borderline, racist!

this appears to be a lovely new restaurant off circle at preston; a reincarnation of their former location i think. the place had maybe five or six tables filled on a friday night at suppertime, however, which should have been the first clue.

given the restaurant name, we came for the dim sum. one cart with the same dozen items came around six or seven times, however. the shrimp in many of the dishes we got had not been deveined properly, which was off-putting. and some items were barely warm - like they had been sitting there for awhile. the food was ok but quite salty. we asked if they use msg and they do, both in the products they buy and added to the food.

the service was poor; though there were few customers and at least 4-5 servers, none of our plates got cleaned off the table for the entirety of our meal, nor was the water refilled.

neither was it cheap. 6 items set us back over $35. had the food been great, the service stellar, maybe. but as it is, we won't be back

i was looking forward to trying this place after they moved to their new location. the dim sum was okay but the service was absolutely horrible. the cart came around once the whole time we were there. after that, no one stopped by our table to refill our water or ask if we wanted to order anything. the servers only paid attention to the larger tables and completely ignored us. we actually had to get up and go to the front desk to ask when the cart would be coming around again, only to be abruptly told “too many customers, no cart.” their actual menu does not have dim sum items on them so i guess that meant we could no longer order anything? since they can’t care less about basic customer service, we will not be returning.
