whatever. yip hongs is the best dimsumin saskatoon.
except when you get those waitress'always asking you if you want the same thing again, evn though they know that you've already had it, like after asking twice you should get it through you head that we don't need that.
also they should stop at every single table to ask if you would like something, but when they repeatly skip your table, that when we stop going for several weeks at a time.

congee, tripe, chicken feet = breakfast!. i just finished a full review on their newest competition in city on my blog. i will say yip hong still has a very slight edge in the dimsumdepartment but certainly the 'other' place has a solid dinner menu, offering a variety of dishes and style more commonly seen in major cities.

i have dimsumweekly and have lately been going back and forth to both places. yip hong's dimsumis certainly comparable to calgary, vancouver and even hong kong. they maintain a lot of consistency in their dimsumand it's always fresh due to the high turnover. i will say for those allergic to msg to be alert and that goes for dinner as well. otherwise, everyone else is spot on in the reviews!

i was looking forward to trying this place after they moved to their new location. the dimsumwas okay but the service was absolutely horrible. the cart came around once the whole time we were there. after that, no one stopped by our table to refill our water or ask if we wanted to order anything. the servers only paid attention to the larger tables and completely ignored us. we actually had to get up and go to the front desk to ask when the cart would be coming around again, only to be abruptly told “too many customers, no cart.” their actual menu does not have dimsumitems on them so i guess that meant we could no longer order anything? since they can’t care less about basic customer service, we will not be returning.

we went there for my dad's birthday and ordered a bunch of dimsumdishes and things off the regular menu. the shanghai noodles were greasy and lacked flavour. the marinated chicken tasted ok but the dish comes out cold (its supposed to) and isn't a great choice unless you like your meat cold. the beef ribs tastes like wet beef jerky (don't know if you'd consider that a good or bad thing). i find that a lot of the dimsumdishes are mediocre or sub par. a couple of dishes that are worth mentioning is the opened sticky rice (not wrapped in banana leaf but rather, steamed on top of the leaf), which has a lot of flavour and addicting to eat. it tastes better than the regular wrapped sticky rice. another thing that you should try in the dimsummenu is the steamed cream bun. it has a light custard filling wrapped in a white steamed dough. its not overly sweet and its a nice way to finish the meal.  what i found disturbing was that my dad was watching a worker pick off of customers' plates and eating it before he'd serve it to them. also, we asked a worker for some hot sauce and she sternly responded "later," so we didn't get it for about 10 min while we watched her stand at a table. not the greatest service if you ask me. you shouldn't be talking to customers like that.

this is definitely the best chinese food in saskatoon. that being said, it is not life changing, and would probably rank as average in larger cities. i gave it a 4.0 because in saskatoon standards, it's a 4.5, but in other cities, it would be closer to a 3.5.

the food is very hong-kong style, and a little bit on the greasier side. the dimsumis pretty good, although when i first tried it 2 years ago i thought it was pretty bad. i'm not sure if my standards were higher (moving here from a much bigger city) or if they have improved over the years. one of my favourite parts of eating here is the chili oil.

i have never eaten in for lunch or dinner, but i have gotten take out and delivery many many times. the food (as long as it's not deep fried) keeps very well on the way home, and they are open to customization if you ask for it (less oil, no peas, no meat, etc.) the staff are very pleasant.

the best dimsumin saskatoon by far! i'm glad they moved to a bigger location! their dimsumis excellent and have good portions. their menu items are also good. best time to come is right when they open or you will have to wait a while to get seated. my favourite are their steamed dumplings, turnip cake, squid and tripe.

i'm constantly debating whether genesis or yip hong is my favourite dimsumlocation but after my last visit to yip hong i think they may have taken the lead. everything was great as usual but the coconut buns. they were fresh out of the oven, still warm and the best thing i've eaten in a while. only problem with this place is their lack of crab rangoon (and genesis makes a damn good crab rangoon).

actually so disappointed, waited all week to go for dimsumfor the first time at their new location... were seated and no carts came for 20 mins. had to leave without eating. no one around us was getting service either. this sucks because yip hong's was actually my all time favorite restaurant.

i love this restaurant. i've been coming here since i was about nine years old. my memories of yip hong's mostly include my family and i ordering interesting (sometimes crazy) looking food from the dimsumcarts. most of the food is absolutely delicious, some dishes i think may take an acquired taste. if you're new to asian cuisine, order what you recognize (spring rolls, etc) and you'll have a great meal. the servers have always been nice and respectful to me. this restaurant gets pretty busy on sundays so it's better to get there early, or take a number and wait in line!

weekend dimsumanyone?. i went here with my mom on a saturday, we had been there before for dinner however lunch was the best! as soon we entered i knew this place would be good, reminded me of toronto's chinatown that we miss so much! were sat fairly quickly, service was excellent, food was great as well! i love the fact that they have different dishes on a cart where they ask you to make a selection from them, you get to actually see what it looks like before ordering. will definitely come back! we had around 6-7 small dishes and total was approx. $30, not bad at all for 2.
