not bad. dim sum is usually not bad, it kinda all blends together tho, i went there for supper one night and they were kinda a mess, i had 5 different waitresses and none of them could understand me too well... it seemed like there kinda all over the place... there menu is kinda mess too... way too much stuff on it... and then ended up getting hair in my food, i don't think ill be going back.

try the peking duck!. came in with a few co-workers for their peking duck. it's awesome! you must order 2 days in advance. peking duck is a 3 course meal.
for the first course, you will receive platter of duck skins, wraps, garnishes (julienned carrots, cucumbers, and green onions), and some kind of sauce. what you do is take one of the wraps, apply some sauce to it, add a little bit of garnish, and duck skin, and wrap it.
the second course is a soup made of duck bones, some napa cabbage and tofu. the soup was very delicious.
the third and final course is where all the duck meat went, and the duck legs too. after the first two courses i thought they were so delicious, nothing could get better than this, but when the third course was super delicious as well. highly recommended. again, you must call them about 2 days in advance to order the peking duck so that they have time to prepare. it costs $40 for the 3 course. totally worth it.

the best place for dim sum in all of saskatchewan. my must have dim sum items are the steamed pork dumplings, steamed seafood dumplings, steamed lotus paste buns, steamed bbq pork buns, spareribs in black bean sauce, ginger pork rolls, and then finish off with some egg tarts. this place is packed in the weekends, so i would normally come in as soon as they're open, at 10am.

awesome food!!! service is a little different but if you are willing to try authentic chinese dimsum and different way of serving food(crews make rounds inside the resto with a cart full of yummy dimsums!) then this is a must try!;)

good dim sum, poor dining experience. i always have negative vibes when my family wants to go to yip hong. i don't find the dining experience enjoyable. i would not categorize it under cheap eats either. last time i went, lunch came out to be $12 a person before tip.

first, you probably have to wait in line to get a seat during peak hours. next, depending on where your table is located, by the time the cart arrives, you may end up with very few options, as you get what's leftover from what the first tables in the route have selected.
the dim sum quality is good, but the dining experiences have been choatic and stressful. the dim sum is better than mandarin, albeit, 25% more expensive. aside from dim sum, i would say that their ordered dishes are comparable to the mandarin, but more expensive.

really? this place?. generally i hate this place. even despite the average waiting time 30min during weekend and the terrible service, i still could not like this place.

sweets here are definitely good, however that's not the reason i come here.

portion of order is small that means you can have various things you like for a single meal. but since the service is really slow, you probably need to wait 30min for those things you want. taste of food is getting worse and worse due to frequently chef switching. and after 4 years i went to this place, they have no new dishes.

their menu and service are so far away from friendly unless you come from china, many good stuffs are not even on the menu/list/cart. so you need to ask them to prepare for you, and most time they didn't prepare enough for such large amount of customer.

rather than their dim sum, their entrees are either horrible tasting or way overpriced. if you are not targeting their dim sum, their are many places in town better than this place.

so if you have enough time to waste in your life (include finding parking place and waiting for your seat) and you like crowed and unfriendly atmosphere, you should go to this place

likes ityum.. but not the greatest service

i love the food here. but i hate how they bring out dishes as they are ready. they dont time things to come out all together which can be very annoying. also they always forget to bring out plates when we order many dishes to share. i feel like im in china there. its kinda chaotic and you really have to fight to get a servers attention. i love the food but it sucks eating your ginger beef from a plate with nothiing else and then 10 mins later your noodles come out. if they had better service i would have no complaints!!i dont know if they realize that when people order several dishes between a few people it means they want to share and that they'd like to eat their food at the same time!! i love the food though.. it always makes me go back!"

---(this review is very accurate, close to what i would say word for word)---

the service just to reintegrate, is confusing at best…my guest and i had 3 different servers, yet it was very impossible to get a refill on our waters, which was not good as we both ordered spicy beef dishes, and added chilli sauce to it,lol….i had to actually go up to the crazy front and ask for refills , and almost got ran over by food flying everywhere….

some items on the specials board were just in chinese, though i like chop sticks, you do have to ask for a fork if you want one, lol….when you do order items to share with someone else on the table it does not seem like they get to bring an extra set of plates out….i ordered some spring rolls to go with our meal, and our meals come out, no spring rolls…then 20 minutes later they came out without warning, lol, i thought they forgot them, as the communication skills there are pretty low….another problem i found, i assumed rice came with orders of the effect of a saucy beef and vegetable dish…good thing i asked, they said no, so i ordered a bucket of rice, lol, i said how much rice is in a bucket, the server said it is a bucket full, lol, i was thinking like a mop bucket or sand pail, it was more like a champagne cooler of rice….even with these problems, and yes the atmosphere reminds me of a asian noodle house, where it is quite frantic, i enjoyed my experience …..

my new addiction. who cares what this place looks like? the dim sum is awesome!!! if i wasn't a poor student i'd be here every weekend. the egg tarts are fantastic, as are the bbq pork buns, and well, most of everything else that i've tried. sometimes there's a bit of a wait for a table, but that's a sign the food must be good right? worth the wait, plus as soon as you're seated the eating begins. also, i love the tea that comes with your meal.

side note: i went there a bit later in the day a couple weeks ago and worried that the food wouldn't be as fresh because of some of the reviews on here saying the food isn't as good when the rush slows down. turns out there was no reason to worry, food was hot and awesome as ever.

talked about in china!. i went for supper one night, with 12 others, and man oh man, was that ever the best chinese i have had in this country. one of my main things, when i move around, is finding the ultimate chinese food in the city/town and i can't believe i haven't eaten there in the last 5 years?!!? i've always been wanting to go for dim sum there and couldn't seem to get anyone else to go. salt and pepper shrimp, green beans, dumplings(best ever), lemon chicken and shanghai noodles were all over the top delicious. huge fan. and will definitely be going back for more. now i want dim sum really bad!!

eat yr heart out mandarin. easily the best dim sum in saskatoon. always busy with many chinese and other asian diners as well as an ecclectic audience of all ages. get there early if you wish to experience really fresh from the kitchen---- carts of dim sum. my favorites include curried squid, succulent tripe, chicken feet, egg plant, steamed barbeque pork buns, pan friend shrimp dumplings, delicate custard tarts. i'm from vancouver i gave up on dim sum in saskatoon until this place opened. interesting staff who are friendly and helpful once you get to know them. by the way this place is also really a great place for dinner, look for the specials, whole cooked steamed pickerel is divine, love the garlic infused pea shoots or long beans. deep fried chicken with chili soy sauce is hot and addictive. a wide ranging menu with a lot of unusual dishes, not for those looking for the chinese/canadian experience. this place is for hard core seekers of the real stuff. nothing in regina compares.

one my favorite chinese restaurants of all time even though i have eaten in a variety of chinese restaurants in hong kong, toronto and vancouver. consistently good, dinner menu and dim sum are fantastic - highly recommend the salt and pepper tofu and egg tarts.

excellent food. i eat at yip hong's probably more than twice a month. the food is consistently great and service is fast.

two of my favourite dishes are the garlic green beans (a must-have) and the hot and sour soup. don't expect a bowl of thai hot and sour soup - yip hong's version is thick, almost meaty with a variety of mushrooms and soft, delicious tofu. i don't think you can go wrong with anything here!

not mind blowing dim sum. after reading the reviews on here i expected the dim sum at yip hongs to blow my socks off. it did not. the food was good but not any better than other places in town. i would have to say that compared side by side the mandarin is a better deal and experience for dim sum on sunday morning.

the good:
the food tasted good and was fresh. there was good variety yet we were able to get all of our old favorites. i was impressed with the bbq pork buns.

the bad:
we showed up at 10:30 and the couple in front of us got the last open table. we had to wait about 10 minutes to get a table. i wasn't blown away with the food. it was average for the city but more expensive. for two of us to eat it came out to $35. this is about 30% too high compared to the mandarin.

the verdict:
it was good but not good enough to make me change my regular dim sum spot. if you want to give it a try make sure you go early. even on a -30 morning it was still very busy.
