i’m polite and friendly but i’m not gonna say things very nice here today. my stomach hurts tonight and i tried to get some food to eat after work, unfortunately since we ordered, we have been waiting too long to get any bit food to feed the hunger. it’s a week day, i understand people here get busy during dinner hours, but it is not okay for people to wait that long after order. while i’m still waiting for my food after ordered a while ago, i decided to get myself something first. i went to fries shop got a takeaway fries. i brought it back to eat a bit then i have been asked to move out. i said no and explained the condition of my stomach. i said maybe we can eat a bit more till the dishes coming. she started getting very rude and her sentences became short and very inpatient . she raised her voice and asked us to move out with the fries. but i don’t want to move out so i gave the fries with her. she grabbed the stuff and left, after two minutes she came back with five bucks and left again straightaway without saying anything to us at all. thanks for your poor service “young lady”. it’s been such a terrible dinning experience with white and wong today. hope the customers can get treated right here.
may you try to bring food here, and let them talk you outside. or getting a food refund ! 🐥

a very classy fusion place. their dishes are really good and they have some great atmosphere inside and outside their restaurant.

food wise - delicious, diverse and diligent, is how i would describe it. i think it's one of those things that you just have to try and experiment to see what you like.

price - they do command a premium, i'd be broke if i came here regularly, but it's an excellent spot when the company is paying, or you want to treat yourself.

the foodologist review:-

had a friend visit us from overseas my partner and myself always wanted to visit the place and found the perfect opportunity too . the staff was welcoming at the door did not make a reservation. we were passed on to a waitress who was equally welcoming had us seated it was busy for the weekday ,probably a good idea to book on the weekend and go . we ordered our drinks and food .severed us first with the chicken starter which were shaped like money bags . they were steamed well were not doughy and were flavor full . the soup came in with the squid . the soup was ordered specially by me . i love my soup!! the soup was perfect not to sour and not to spicy well balanced .which usually many restaurants here get it wrong . the portion size for the squid was good and the squid was perfect not oily which is usually the case and was not rubber textured. the essence of thai cooking is the balance of sweet sour & spicy which the green curry hit perfectly on all notes along with the fragrant steam rice which was a jasime rice . a great experience and a good way to show our guest the diversity of auckland with an impressive meal

2 of us went in for week day dinner, and was recommended having dumplings each, 2 small dishes and 1 large for a main. but in the end, we ordered pork hock (doesn’t look like it when it comes out but utterly delicious), soft shell crabs, hapuka curry dish for a main along with rice and papaya salad. in the end, we totally could have gone without the curry.

soft shell crab (small dish) was unexpectedly large and we were so full. but in comparison, pork hock which also a small dish was 5 small cubes of meat for similar price. so if the 2 “small dishes” were the size of pork hock, we definitely would have needed a 3rd dish.

i would definitely go back again.

large menu designed to share. was a bit uncertain how much to order but worked out well between the two of us we ordered some prawn dumplings, crispy fried chicken (entree) and wok fried crispy hapuka curry. price came to $65, so for the two of us it was pretty reasonable, not sure where zomato came up with the figure of $120 for two, seems a bit excessive. the entree and main were huge, definitely need to share these dishes. the prawn dumplings were okay, wouldn’t order them again. the hapuka curry dish came with lots of vegetables which was great as a lot of the dishes seemed to be either protein based or vegetable based and not so much a mix. no need to order rice with this one either as it’s more of a dry, non saucy curry. was a bit too crispy for my liking, sometimes getting bits of the ‘fish’ which didn’t actually have any or much fish in it. would be happy to go back and try other dishes on the menu. place was packed on a friday evening, definitely would pay to book ahead.

arrived at 5:30 and had to wait about 45 mins for a table even though half the restaurant was empty.. they would benefit from having a quicker dining experience rather than insisting on seating at set times? food was delicious - nothing ground breaking but delicious.

a definite yes. great place and location. went there with a group of girls from the office and we all loved our food. gets really busy so i recommend making a booking. we didn’t go with the shared platters but instead we ordered individual meals. most of us ordered the starter meal as our main dish and i can truly say it was filling. i ordered the sweet n sour pork which came on a bed of green salad. it was really yummy - i had dumplings as well which were fresh and beautiful. service was slow and took a long time for food to come out, but worth the wait.

amazing food. love the idea that the plates are to share. beautiful flavors and staff know the dishes really well. just a pity that the tables are sooo close to each other that you can literally hear the person on the next table chewing.

came here for my partners birthday with the fam. ordered way too much, but what a great opportunity to try all the different dishes.

faves were the green curry, the bang bang chicken, and the peking duck. i thought the soft shell crab did not taste fresh and was soggy. everything else was pretty much delicious.

our waiter was a young guy, seemed a bit nervous but very attentive, kept re-filling our wines and waters. the birthday cake was brought out and it was great actually being able to plate up and enjoy it, as quite a few restaurants in the city nowadays either do not allow it or charge some ridiculous cakeage fee.

my brother won’t stop raving about the green curry so no doubt we’ll be back again soon!

absolutely delicious! there were 4 of us and we ordered a mixture of dumplings, bao buns, small dishes and one large dish. everything was so tasty and served really quickly. the only down side was that it felt like we were quite rushed, i understand that we were there on a friday night but we were served food quicker than we could eat it (that’s not a necessarily the worst thing) and then given the bill immediately after we had finished eating. i would definitely recommend this place!

confucius say… when food taste this good there nothing white or wing about this place!

located on prime real estate... this huge street level space that once was a ice cream parlour has now been refitted into a seaside sanctuary... east meets west, fusing a palette of soft red tones intertwined with dark bamboo borders which define comfortable spaces for seating... paper lanterns swing in the harbour breeze, selective pieces of art adorn the walls.
this venue is very cool!

our waitress is vibrant and exceptionally friendly we are ushered to a private dining room area which is beautiful spacious and comfortable she soon explains to our group that they do sharing plates or banquet options which we might prefer? as they don’t really do the entree thing!
basically dishes come out as they are ready... which works out just fine for us all.
we skim over the menu and notice that the food is eclectic with thai chinese indian dishes which litter the pages... but in a positive way😁🤣 it’s like street food being revved up for fine dining.

the food;
the majority of our group opted for the banquet menu cost per person $75?normally $95
prawn crackers chilli salt - crispy scrumptious start!
ora king salmon sashimi cucumber yuzu wasabi chilli seaweed shiro shoyu -twist of the traditional pacific raw fish
basket of steam dumplings - light flavoursome mouthful of yumminess
thai beef salad basil mint coriander tomato kaffir line lemongrass - coriander lover delight it is delicious😁
wok fried asian greens garlic vinegar soy&sesame - freshness of crunchiness... prepares your palette for the next course👍🏼
red curry beef shin coconut cream - flavoursome, tender meat full of richness!
dessert dirty passion choc soul coconut sorbet passion fruit curd lychee - a delightful surprise that concludes our banquet😍
verdict; delcious, yummy, great variety! presentation on point! brilliant flavours!
absolutely fantastic food!

the beverages/wine:
great selection and also for the non alcohol drinkers.
ask for specials as they do have a selective option of cocktails.
wine option is cute... the house wine or the good wine 😂🤣

the service;
we were appointed a lovely waitress named tinka! who was knowledgeable, and happy to suggest options from the menu and when we challenged her about the coffee not satisfactory.. she did not question us at any stage... but apologised and had it replenished and hot for us to enjoy.

the whole experience;
having our own private room with views of the harbour so relaxing.
the privacy was fantastic as we could speak openly amongst ourselves instead of at each other in a crowded communal dining space.
great food great company 👍🏼 of colleagues always makes the experience fun😁

important notes for this venue;
1 table payment policy
booking essential especially for large groups
your food is served when it’s ready so don’t be surprised as it won’t come out in any particular order
query about any specials
great for any occasion.. whether romantic dining or dining with family and friends
there are designated areas for smokers👍🏼

parking;
walking distance from britomart train station, wilson car park at princes wharf steps away from the venue and parking meter spaces on every side street.

we highly recommend this venue and definitely would return.
we concluded it was worthy of a 5/5.
