decided to come here for mum's birthday and see what it was all about, since we've heard about the place from people who have visited before and were raving about the crab &porkbelly. #asianfusion 🍲🥣🥗🍗🍙

ordered 4 entrées and 3 mains along with some steamed rice.
wasn't too impressed with the soft shell crab & the prawns on toast to be honest but the fried rice, hapuka, sweet & sour pork, beef shin curry & the fried chicken was pretty awesome.

will definitely visit again, to try out the other stuff 😊.
prices are a bit steep but good "mains" portion sizes.

rough spend for around 4,5 people = $220 - $260 💵

ambience : 4/5 (thursday night/wasn't too packed)
food : 3.5/5
staff : ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (we were well looked after)
creativity : 4/5

a group of 4 ventured down to white & wong on anzac day. initially i was horrified to see there was a 20% surcharge but then nerves calmed when we understood the surcharge was going to the rsa – nice one white & wong!!!

food: 9/10
karaage chicken gua pao – so good!
roastporkbelly gua boa – equally as good!
both amazing value at 2 for $12.00
pork & coriander dumplings – always a winner
wagyu beef shumai – not my fave but a hit with the others
egg foo yung – this was awesome but very decadent as it was smothered in yum yum sauce. full of flavor and fresh ingredients. we could’ve eaten two of these.
roti roll – madam woo has always been my fave with these rolls but white & wongs version is great.

service: 8.5/10
attentive wait staff, friendly, helpful and accommodating

ambience 9/10
always nice to sit outdoors with a view of the water. good tunes were played – great place to spend anzac afternoon

what a cool place, food is tasty, fairly priced and fresh! we will definitely be back. bathrooms are definitely out there :-)

absolutely loved this place.
the staff were so friendly, attentive and helpful and the atmosphere was seriously so good.
the food was amaaaaazing ! ordered their kung pao andporkbelly and i was blown away.
the kung pao chicken was jam packed with flavour and is most probably one of the best i've had. theporkbelly was cooked to perfection and was crispy and salty. it is abit on the pricey side but totally worth it!
would definitely recommend!

this one is giving lucky buddha a run for its... clientele? the location on the waterfront is lovely, and even with an inside table, there is ample natural lighting from the harbour windows to the north. the restaurant had only just opened when we visited so it wasn't very busy, and i understand that many of the staff were still in-training. this wasn't noticeable though as everyone was really attentive, and the server was happy to keep coming back when we couldn't make up our mind on what to eat.
the most standout dish that we tried was the spiced curry of coconut cream, with fresh tomatoes, fried silken tofu, green beans, spinach, and almonds - could have had two of these on their own, and we would have been pleased.
the crispy friedporkhock, with tamarind caramel, crispy ginger, coriander, and chilli was also very good.
overall, was a great dinner, and only came to about $110 for four people with shared dishes (no drinks) and we were amply full and flavour-satisfied.

i had lunch/ euro-chinese fusion yum char here in early april around 2pm and it was sadly disappointing.

firstly, the service was good and the decor was beautiful and i really did like the ambience of the place.

however the food ( specifically the lunch) just was not great - some were good and one in particular so bad..

the papaya salad was good, i always seem to love them and would recommend this to anyone.
the green curry was a waste of money. there was probably 5 bits of chicken and the rest was the curry - it was 30 odd dollars for it so we were expecting a decent sized curry.

theporkbelly buns had a sliver ofporkbelly which wasn't flavourful enough with the bread. the bread was good though at least

the xiao long bao.... they were so bad.. and i'm not saying that rashly.. firstly they looked extremely flat and then when you go to get one it instantly broke and the soup went everywhere! i liked the flavour but if you're going to call it a xiao long bao you cannot have the skin breaking before you even get it in your bowl/ on your plate.
the shrimp coriander har gows i.e. rice skin dumplings were good even though i hate coriander.

i would want to come to try dinner but would not bother to have their lunch menu again. it is overpriced and the not-so xiao long baos and the pricey curry didn't leave me with such a great food experience

again the service is good, definitely nothing wrong with that but until i revisit and get a better food experience i can't really give it higher than a 2.5.

one of the best places i have been , i went to white wongs on friday lunch with my mate just wanted to try something different so decided for this place and what i came across was to amazing service and way too amazing food , we were greeted by a waitstaff and we decided to sit outside, the waiter informed us about what excatly white wong is and what kind of food is being saved here that gave me a good impression about the place and i saw the menu and i ordered for kung pao chicken, chicken and wagu dumplings and shrimp andporkfried rice and my mate had ordered for soft shell crab to be honest that was the best pan asian food i've tasted so far and that chicken was so delicious correct sauce consistency and beautifully seasoned chicken was perfectly cooked and so was the fried rice dumplings were not too hot inside neither cold that's how it should be and good service on good food just went together beautifully. i was too full so dint get chance to have dessert and as u can see from the pics was too busy hogging that lovely meal .would highly recommend this place to anyone and would definatey go back

overall quite disappointed in white & wong. we enjoyed the dumplings andporkbuns but there was hardly any meat in our red curry, there was a lot of fatty bits through it. when we told the waitress she didn't seem to care and just said she would let the chef know but never came back to us or apologised. we also found there wasn't a very good selection of wine by the glass for under $13. i think you are paying more for the location than the quality of the food.

ambiance 4.5/5

friendly and very attentive staff. great service. ambiance had an inviting and welcoming feel.loved the chinese themed cushions and private booths. penang tofu curry is a winner, had big bold deep flavours. i would be satisfied just to eat the sauce and a bowl of rice. gua bao withporkbelly- fluffy baoporkbelly was well contrasted by the citrus cucumber. thick cut ofporkbelly with crunchy skin.porkbelly was thick which can be difficult to bite with everything. vegetarian wonton was crispy, the sweet sauce almost tasted like caramel to me. i still liked it but if i had closed my eyes i thought i was having dessert.

love this place! great service, great ambience (being near the water). an asian fusion could easily go wrong while being very expensive, so i was quite hesitant about coming here. however, i was more than satisfied with the meal. tonight, we ordered (for 2)porkbelly gua bao, wagyu beef shumai, bang bang chicken roti roll, friedporkhock. theporkbelly was cooked such that it had a very crispy layer of skin, while the fat melted in your mouth, accompanying the tender bottom layer of meat. the shumai had a delicate outer layer of dough while the cumin beef was bouncy and fragrant. the roti roll was crunchy, and the chicken lightly deep fried with refreshing condiments and spicy+mayonnaise type sauce. the hock was served as crunchy cubes stuffed with slow cooked pulledporkhock, and the ginger topping+sauce gave it a tangy twist. delicious 😋

2 of us went in for week day dinner, and was recommended having dumplings each, 2 small dishes and 1 large for a main. but in the end, we orderedporkhock (doesn’t look like it when it comes out but utterly delicious), soft shell crabs, hapuka curry dish for a main along with rice and papaya salad. in the end, we totally could have gone without the curry.

soft shell crab (small dish) was unexpectedly large and we were so full. but in comparison, porkhock which also a small dish was 5 small cubes of meat for similar price. so if the 2 “small dishes” were the size ofporkhock, we definitely would have needed a 3rd dish.

i would definitely go back again.

a definite yes. great place and location. went there with a group of girls from the office and we all loved our food. gets really busy so i recommend making a booking. we didn’t go with the shared platters but instead we ordered individual meals. most of us ordered the starter meal as our main dish and i can truly say it was filling. i ordered the sweet n sourporkwhich came on a bed of green salad. it was really yummy - i had dumplings as well which were fresh and beautiful. service was slow and took a long time for food to come out, but worth the wait.

white&wongs in the viaduct harbour give you a taste of the asian fusion cuisine.
the dumplings (prawn and shiitake mushrooms), theporkhock and the sashimi are very good presented.
the place is very well designed with a nice ambient music although can be very crowded and noisy.
the only downside in this restaurant is the price. it can be become very expensive for asian food.
