great experience!! our waitress kiley was awesome and made great recommendations. we had the hummus and moscow mules to start and they were great. i had the b.e.l.t and my husband had chicken and waffles--both were so good! we were stuffed so took a whisky cake to go. loved the atmosphere and will definitely be back!!

disappointing. took my brother and husband here for their birthday. all of the dishes were strange combination of flavors. i like the fresh concept but i think it was poorly executed. we will not go back.

customer opinion. i took my family to whiskey cake earlier today for mother's day and spent twice what i intended.
this action was a direct reflection of an outstanding young man, mr. ross bishop, who was our
waiter. his suggestions and service were excellent.

as a result, we will be returning and hope the next time we visit whiskey cake mr. bishop will have
been promoted to manager.

believe the hype. my supper club chose whiskey cake for last week's culinary adventure, and we were not disappointed. we went on a thursday night, were seated quickly, and had the best server (shout out to dante!).
we each ordered a glass of wine to start along with hummus and deviled eggs to share. both appetizers were brought out with roasted tomatoes piled atop them. the hummus was very flavorful and fresh, and the the deviled eggs were good, but nothing extraordinary.
for the main course, i chose the chicken & cheese melt, which i enjoyed, even without the bacon and avocado that was accidentally left off of my order :(
each sandwich comes out with fresh chips, and french fries are $1.50 for the table, which come in a large bucket...yes, bucket. they were hot, fresh, and from what i could tell, were covered in parmesan cheese.
at this point i had to save half of my main course for later to save room for their fabled whiskey cake.
let me tell you...this dessert was the b-e-s-t thing i have ever put into my mouth. light chocolate cake with that hint of whiskey, fresh whipped cream, caramelized pecans, and a vanilla creme anglaise around the bowl. it took all 4 of us ladies to finish it, but i was definitely left wanting more (as any great dessert should).
will i be back? hopefully sooner than later...

i'll take another. first order of business when you arrive to whiskey cake is to order a drink. any drink. they're all very well crafted. each drink is made with thought and they turn out perfectly. my personal favorite for the spring/summer is the melon smash. not too sweet and has the perfect blend of melon and cucumber. as far as the food goes, the food is good, not great, but good. the bahn mi sandwich is delicious and so are the fries. for dessert i've had both the whiskey cake and the creme brulee, both are good, but go for the whiskey cake!

amazing place best food and great cocktails specially their selection of whiskey.
everything is fresh specially because they don't have any refrigerator since they don't store anything old, fresh food from farm to plate.

in drinks, tried their mint julep, mule and old fashion.

in food tried their special chips and three dips, hummus and bread, sauté carrots, pork sliders and whiskey cake
everything was great

ambience-9/10
service-7/10
taste-10/10
pocketfriendly-7/10

i've been hearing about whiskey cake for years. we had tried to go here before only to find it too busy. but we finally got here with a friend for a late lunch. this was a magnificent lunch - the kind that i love to describe in a review.

we were quickly seated and met our waiter, richard, who just a quickly moved us outside because we were in a draft. i cannot say enough good things about richard (and the other servers here) who made this meal very special. he took the time to describe the wide array of interesting drinks, alcoholic and non. we ordered two fruit drinks, a grapefruit rickey (if i remember right) and fried green tomatoes. (despite being from the south my wife and i had never tried fried green tomatoes. she loved them.)

the servers help more by describing their specials, and favorites from the menu. they kept us happy even though we spent a good two hours at lunch.

we ordered a half chicken, wagyu burger, and salmon on some kind of salad. normally chicken is just a staple but this was a significantly good chicken with an excellent mixture of vegetables. the salmon was great with a nice mixed green & veggies (and maybe some quinoa). i normally would not think of eating a burger with ketchup but this one i did and it was great. it was shockingly good, maybe the best of the year.

despite being full we split the tiramisu (with bourbon/stout?) and berries. it was a light and flavorful dessert. just right for an afternoon on a patio.

after a bunch of average, sad meals lately at other restaurants whiskey cake served up the most special meal we have had in ages. the location, servers, and food were all excellent!

very cool atmosphere- we sat at the bar and it was fun to watch the kitchen and the bar tenders work. i would rate the appetizers a 5 - the jalapeño cheddar biscuits and fire roasted veggies were nothing short of amazing. i also loved the bloody mary bar they had were you can garnish your own. were my disappointment happened were in the sandwiches. i ordered the chicken pesto on sourdough. it was not bad....but very bland. my husband got the basic burger and it was also bland. the homemade chips were great. i was just surprised that the main dishes lacked the flavor we were anticipating.

nice ambience and drinks but i feel the food is lacking on quality and has plenty quantity. everything just feels too heavy and rich. the burger was way too overdone for medium rare. when you are focused on what's on the burger rather than the meat you know you are off.

lots of folks rave about this place but i am not one. i ordered a steak and it came smothered in a sweet sauce. it was cooked properly but the sauce just ruined a perfectly good steak

food was good but not amazing. the whiskey cake needed ice cream not just whipped cream. the three little pigs was the highlight of the meal. the bass was slightly under seasoned and needed some acid, the plating of the dish was just unexceptable, this place is way too classy to be presenting food like texas roadhouse. the onion ring on the omg burger was tough, cause they used the outer pedal too close to the skin. they know where the target is but can't seem to hit the bullseye. i had high expectations but left disappointed.

outdoor patio, fireplace, pouring rain. warmed by the wine and one of the best pork belly ramen dishes in the dfw area. repeat, repeat, repeat.

very interesting restaurant overall.

be warned ... served in an industrial setting means what it says in spades.  the only negative is that the restaurant is loud ... actually loud.  this restaurant will make casual conversation difficult because there isn't anything in the space that does not reflect sound other than the people in the restaurant, who also happen to be generating much of the sound.  the din coupled with the sound system makes the meal a bit of a solitary event even when you are dining with other folks.

now that that is out of the way, let's talk grub!  omg, i loved my cheese and chicken sandwich and bob's burger was huge as evidenced by the photograph.  their menu is chock full of interesting bits to try and i'll definitely be back to try many of them because scratch food is always good in my book.

stop in and enjoy, i know i'll be back.
