dinner. this is the second time i have been to whiskey cake. i had the hummus, and split the watermelon and heirloom tomato salad, the hippy stack, and of course whiskey cake. the server was very nice and found out the answers to our questions. i wouldn't have the salad again the use mint was a bit strange for me but if you are adventurous give it try. the stack was really good. the cake was awesome!!

this place serves craft cocktails and uses local produce and ingredients.

visited tonight with the family. overall opinion was a no repeat. however, we have some picky eaters. fried green tomato appetizer with remoulaude sauce was delicious. meal went downhill from there. i had the chicken and spinach salad. the cheese, fruit, and dressing combo didn't work for me. the rest of us had burgers. the consesus was the brisket flavor was strange in the burgers. we did not have dessert. atmosphere was great and fun! service was exellent. special bonus surprise! jake guyllenhal look alike waits tables here. free photo opp.

father's day fiasco. whiskey cake in plano is best to avoid.
terrible service, mistakes, 50 minute wait for table, mediocre food!
don't waste your money or time here.
there many better restaurants than whiskey cake.

horrible management. i was a fan of whiskey cake until monday night - june 6, 2011. i had previously entertained friends, clients, and staff at whiskey cake and everybody always enjoyed it. i went with my family on monday night and was treated horrible by the manager on duty. we were quoted a 20 minute wait (i know - it's just an estimate) - that's why i was not upset after 40 minutes. but when the manager gave away our table to someone who arrived at wc 10 minutes previously and complained about the wait - that's when i became upset. 53 minutes and no table - my family decided to leave. yes - i have the text from their system to prove it. the manager was making fun of their customers. if you want to see it - i took a video with my cell phone. i will be posting it soon. wc had my phone number (from their wait list system) and did not call or text to say they were sorry. stay away - there are plenty of good places to eat in plano.

pleasantly surprised. service was great and very attentive. we were sitting on the patio and a cold front blew in and they were able to move us indoors quickly on a packed saturday night after being told it would be about 45 minutes. there were 10 at our table and the food came out all together and no one's drinks ever went empty. the menu is limited but everything we ordered was good and everyone loved their food. i had the omg burger and it was excellent - cooked mw as ordered, juicy, with lots of flavor. great place for burgers and sandwiches, casual and hanging out. will visit again.

great place!. after reading some reviews on urbanspoon, we decided to give whiskey cake a try, but were a little apprehensive....
i am so glad we went - it was fantastic!
we called ahead and tried to book a table, but were told they only take bookings of parties of 12 or more - so for a saturday night, we might be facing a wait of between 25 and 55 minutes. we were a bit worried, as we have a 5 and 2 year old, but we got there at about 7pm and our party of 6 was seated straight away!!
we ordered cocktails and kids meals straight away (anticipating a long wait) and they all arrived within about 5 minutes, which was impressive! one thing i will say - we ordered 2 kids meals (cheeseburgers) and each child got 2 huge sliders, so it could easily be split between 2.
we tried a few different cocktails & beers and everyone was happy with their choices. the omg burger was precisely that, nom nom nom, and the whiskey cake was delicious and light. everyone's meal was cooked perfectly and tasted great, the service was efficient and the ambiance of the place is very cool.
we will definitely be going back to try more things on the menu, the cocktails and 50+ varieties of scotch, whiskey & bourbon! the whiskey cake is a great escape from so many of the chain eateries that clutter plano... two thumbs up! :o)

i liked it!!. if you have not tried whiskey cake in plano then you should try it. it is where the plano tavern use to be. i have been twice now and both times were good. i had the turkey stack the 1st time and the omg burger minus the shrooms and tomatoes the 2nd time and it was omg good!! i had to take the whiskey cake to go and it was worth the wait!! it was delicious!! my friend had the 3 little pigs and a whiskey sour. i could taste the whiskey from it before it even got to my lips it was sooooo strong!! no whiskey sour for me but if you like whiskey then this is your place. the service and atmosphere was good. went on a friday night and it was packed, glad i got there around 6:15pm and sunday for brunch.

definite service issues. i had read the reviews on urbanspoon and yelp prior to suggesting it to my boyfriend. i read the issues with service, so i knew it was a possibility.

unfortunately, the bad press is there for a reason...it is valid. it started when we walked in the door (no hostess for a good 5 minutes), continued to dinner/drinks (oh wait, my boyfriend never got his), to dessert (oh wait, the server just dropped the check and never offered it), to paying out (oh wait, we paid but then the server dropped off someone else's credit card as well)....we have been offered a free visit to basically change our minds, however i do not see that happening regardless of how much we appreciate free food...

my gf and i went to this place a few months ago and would like to soon forget most of it.. the food was actually alright.. the menu is extremely limited and they don't serve a high end steak.. just a sirloin steak on the menu but you will get charged as though it's a filet. armosphere was horrible and the wait staff is non existent, we saw the waitress when we ordered and when she dropped of the check.. the beer was 1/2 frozen.. i love cold beer but taking two inches of ice off the top is ridiculous.. i also got presented an irish coffee that was overflowing down the sides and all i got was a laugh when it was dropped off.. it burned my hand and looked awful. i truly miss plano tavern and wish bennigans wouldn't of failed so they wouldn't of had to take away the tavern.. all in all this place was an epic fail

awful service. unbelievably unorganized. staff didn't know which end was up! attempted drink at bar and waited about 10 mn. then server came by and said she could take our order. 20 minutes later we finally got them. waited 1.5 hrs for our table. server went to close out bar tab and wasn't allowed to retrieve our credi card. we has to get it ourselves which took another 10 min. server was sooooo rude and told us he was "busy" mgr attempted to buy our dinners (we had yet to place) but we decided to pass as it wasnt worth the headache, hassle or crappy, rude service. their doors will hopefully be closed soon!!! sorry to the staff that does know what they're doing.

overpriced, underportioned, and awful service. we had high hopes for this place, but it didn't deliver. the food was bland and it took forever to get to our table. we won't be back.

bad experience & we were looking forward to trying this restaurant. wasn't crowded on sunday night, but hostess put us in a side room with a loud giant tv. my $10 burger was cold & greasy & you have to pay extra for fries. i really miss plano tavern which used to be here. why would they stick us in a cold loud tv room when there was plenty of space in the nice other areas. will not go back & really wanted to like it.

wow! great food. everything we ordered was outstanding. it will be a drive for me to get back out here, but well worth the mileage.

mediocre food better drinks. the deviled eggs had rubbery whites, the filling had too much vinegar. my roasted chicken was good except for the skin was not crisp. the whiskey cake was a stand out. our waitress was probably just new.
