whiskey cake

great food long waits and not great communication at the front. we've been going here since it opened. the food is very good and staff are very nice as well.

i called in on a saturday afternoon and i spoke to the manager who said he didn't have any reservations but he would put my name and phone number in on thewaitlist so when i came in it should not be very long and i would go to the top of the list. i came in within 20 minutes. when i arrived the girl at the front said now it's 1 and a half hours till i could get in. i felt like that was a ploy to get my phone number and was in very poor service.

i like this place but they really need to be even across the board. i was not happy after having left and been given the opposite information. i called the manager but he never came to the phone.

great food and funwaitstaff. just as the other reviews we had an extended wait, we attempted to call in reservations for our party of 18 and even with the call ahead seating we still waited close to two hours. luckily we were able to get a couch and chair near the bar and grab one off every appitizer on the menu. our server at the bar area was great, the cute little suspenders were a bonus.

after getting to our table we were treated exceptionally well by our server. we had a great time and everyone got somethign different. we were able to taste many thigns on the menu and enjoyed all of them.

you must get the dessert-whickey cake yummers!

we will go back but earlier and possibly a different day. the resturant says it is kid friendly but i disagree. it is a happening place busy and full of drinks. i do not reccommend this place for small children. couples, family, friends and parties for sure.

one of the best meals i have ever had. her name is cassie and she was more than a waitress. my wife and i visited for the first time on our monthly date night. its always a big chance trying something new especially when it involves food. we basically asked our waitress to order for us and she did. we both had fish i had bass and my wife had the salmon special. we had adult mac n cheese, parmesan fries, brussel sprouts for our sides. we then did something we never do, we ordered dessert. cassie suggested the whiskey cake so we ordered. i must say from the first bite to the last bite it all was amazing. the prices were very reasonable, even the drinks. if i had one complaint it would be the restaurant is too small thewaittimes when we left was 2 hours. my advice is get there around 5 if you go on a saturday like we did because we only waited 15 min. if you like a good atmosphere, with a full bar while you wait, and great food you must try whiskey cake. while your there ask for cassie you wont be disappointed.

one of our favorites. the only issue with his place - thewaitduring busy hours. other than that, we love the food and the service. some dishes are superior, such as omg burger, farm bird, chicken and waffles, french toast, chicken melt (especially if you substitute sourdough with pita bread), whiskey cake. some dishes are less successful, but you can always finds something you would love. also, great selection of non alcoholic cocktails, which are somewhat pricey. french press coffee is a must!

mean manager. great atmosphere until we overheard the manager scolding some of thewaitstaff. she was so hateful that it even made all of us at our table uncomfortable :/ not what you want to get exposed to when going out for a fun restaurant experience.

disappointed. food is very expensive but portions small. and there is not many healthy options even though food is from local farms.

i wanted the omg burger per recommendations from a facebook follower. the omg stands for onion, mushrooms, and goodness according to the menu. the burger was made from beef brisket and cooked to order. i ordered mine medium-rare. thewaitwas 15 minutes or so, not impressive by any means, but decent for a restaurant of this caliber. thewaitwas definitely wort

part of the twin peaks franchise with plans to open in ok city and las vegas.
20 minutewaitwas actually an hour and 20. ( on a wed eve at 7:30). bar overcharged for drinks which diligent waiter corrected. good service once seated. food was fine ( as in, ehh...); whiskey cake was great. would give a second chance.

grilled pork was great. whiskey cake was awesome. service wasn't bad. 11/2 hrwaitnot so good. hostess staff was rude and inconsiderate. wife was on crutches and they failed to offer even a chair to sit on for 1hr and 25 min in.

went midday on a saturday, and seated immediately (last time we tried to get in was a saturday evening and thewaitwas up to 1 hour...what is this 4th street in austin?).
great service; love the idea of locally sourced food and scratch kitchen (the kind of place on ddd)...
the deviled eggs are worth the trip, esp. since it's an item more likely seen at an old-school church potluck as opposed to the menu of a chic and hip new restaurant in north dfw (plano)!
the omg burger was just that, onions, meat and goodness. i would order it again and again; and the homemade chips were good, although could be a bit more salty.
will be back for dessert!

great place. the service was outstanding, thewaitstaff very personable. the omg burger was fantastic - could have done with less grease. but with less grease would it lead to less taste?

what i want more of is the onion ring that's on the omg burger - it was the best tasting onion ring i've ever had. crunchy and the onion was not soggy like most onion rings.

the atmosphere is wonderful.. and will definitely be visiting here.

whiskey cake disappointment. i have been hearing about wc for some time now so we decided to give it a try...what a disappointment. they quoted a 30-35 minwaitso we went to the bar for a cocktail. the bar service was great but within 10 min we were paged to be seated. this was great news but the hostess copped a bit of an attitude when she had towaitwhile we asked the bar waiter for our ticket. she the proceeded to pass several open tables in order to seat our party just outside ( it felt like inside) the kitchen. i asked if we could be seated in a table away from the kitchen door & again attitude. once we were finally seated we ordered but our waiter failed to submit the order, the manager brought out an appetizer at no charge. the food arrived & was okay but did not live up to the hype. more problems with desert, slow service and not attentive.

would not recommend for anything outside of the bar.

yum!. we had heard good things about whiskey cake and finally had a chance to go try it. very happy we did. four of us, and it was all good. chicken and spinach, mac & cheese .. but my oldest son had the hippy stack ... wow! i'll order that next time. fantastic service (amy was our server and we loved her), great atmosphere, great food. can'twaitto go back.

father's day fiasco. whiskey cake in plano is best to avoid.

horrible management. i was a fan of whiskey cake until monday night - june 6, 2011. i had previously entertained friends, clients, and staff at whiskey cake and everybody always enjoyed it. i went with my family on monday night and was treated horrible by the manager on duty. we were quoted a 20 minutewait(i know - it's just an estimate) - that's why i was not upset after 40 minutes. but when the manager gave away our table to someone who arrived at wc 10 minutes previously and complained about thewait- that's when i became upset. 53 minutes and no table - my family decided to leave. yes - i have the text from their system to prove it. the manager was making fun of their customers. if you want to see it - i took a video with my cell phone. i will be posting it soon. wc had my phone number (from theirwaitlist system) and did not call or text to say they were sorry. stay away - there are plenty of good places to eat in plano.

great place!. after reading some reviews on urbanspoon, we decided to give whiskey cake a try, but were a little apprehensive....
i am so glad we went - it was fantastic!
we called ahead and tried to book a table, but were told they only take bookings of parties of 12 or more - so for a saturday night, we might be facing awaitof between 25 and 55 minutes. we were a bit worried, as we have a 5 and 2 year old, but we got there at about 7pm and our party of 6 was seated straight away!!
we ordered cocktails and kids meals straight away (anticipating a long wait) and they all arrived within about 5 minutes, which was impressive! one thing i will say - we ordered 2 kids meals (cheeseburgers) and each child got 2 huge sliders, so it could easily be split between 2.
we tried a few different cocktails & beers and everyone was happy with their choices. the omg burger was precisely that, nom nom nom, and the whiskey cake was delicious and light. everyone's meal was cooked perfectly and tasted great, the service was efficient and the ambiance of the place is very cool.
we will definitely be going back to try more things on the menu, the cocktails and 50+ varieties of scotch, whiskey & bourbon! the whiskey cake is a great escape from so many of the chain eateries that clutter plano... two thumbs up! :o)
