very interesting restaurant overall.

be warned ... served in an industrial setting means what it says in spades.  the only negative is that the restaurant is loud ... actually loud.  this restaurant will make casual conversation difficult because there isn't anything in the space that does not reflect sound other than the people in the restaurant, who also happen to be generating much of the sound.  the din coupled with the sound system makes the meal a bit of a solitary event even when you are dining with other folks.

now that that is out of the way, let's talk grub!  omg, i loved my cheese and chicken sandwich and bob's burger was huge as evidenced by the photograph.  their menu is chock full of interesting bits to try and i'll definitely bebackto try many of them because scratch food is always good in my book.

stop in and enjoy, i know i'll be back.

i wasn't super impressed with the food. my atlantic cod sandwich kist didn't taste like much. but the house made chips were delish and the overall vibe of the restaurant was great. it has a shabby chic vibe. rustic yet bustling. i'll definitely bebackto get brunch before i give my final verdict

rude manager!. this was my second visit to whiskey cake. we picked this place to celebrate our friend’s milestone birthday. it was a big mistake! the manager sarah, is the probably the rudest person i have ever met. we collectively gave them business of around 400 dollars on our table. one of our friends (who was a little under the weather to begin with) fell ill in the restaurant. we did the responsible thing and called her husband to come to get her immediately. we were also responsible enough to hire a limo to drive us to andbackfrom this place. the manager sarah, came to us and in front of all the people blasted us for being irresponsible and accused us of going to two other bars before coming to her establishment. as a matter of fact, this was our very first stop right after we got into the limo. once our friend left, i tried to have a word with her and let her know that it was disrespectful. she literally said – “not in my establishment” and escorted us out to the patio to talk. so it was ok for her to talk to us in that fashion in front of all her other guests, but not ok for us to question her in her establishment. from my conversation with her, i realized she had no respect us or appreciation for the money we spent there! she did retortbacksaying “i don’t think you spent that much here, i can pull up your tab” and then “have you never made a mistake in your life? yes, i made a mistake!” (her half hearted attempt at an apology), when i told her she was wrong to make assumptions about us.
well on the plus side, the food was good – especially the brussels sprouts and the whiskey cake. the waiter who helped us was very polite as well. another waitress (who had piercings), who came out to patio with us while we were speaking to sarah was nice as well. we would have comebackhad it not been for this rude behavior. we surely felt unwanted and will not be spending a dime of our money in here again.

great food and fun wait staff. just as the other reviews we had an extended wait, we attempted to call in reservations for our party of 18 and even with the call ahead seating we still waited close to two hours. luckily we were able to get a couch and chair near the bar and grab one off every appitizer on the menu. our server at the bar area was great, the cute little suspenders were a bonus.

after getting to our table we were treated exceptionally well by our server. we had a great time and everyone got somethign different. we were able to taste many thigns on the menu and enjoyed all of them.

you must get the dessert-whickey cake yummers!

we will gobackbut earlier and possibly a different day. the resturant says it is kid friendly but i disagree. it is a happening place busy and full of drinks. i do not reccommend this place for small children. couples, family, friends and parties for sure.

this place is a bit uneven in performance. today my wife and i went for lunch. as part of her order she asked for sweet potato hash. the waitress said she had to check for availability. she camebackand said we were fine. in a few minutes she camebackand said they did not have it. when our meal came it looked great. my wife ordered the chicken sandwich. after a few bites, she found a bone. a manager came by and asked how our lunch was. my wife showed him the bone. he got a puppy dog look on his face and said he was sorry. he did not offer to replace it! he did not take it off the check. we paid and left the sandwich largely un-eaten. i do not know if i will be back.

great concept. "farm to fork" is the motto of this trendy, mixed-decor restaurant that's hard to describe in terms of cuisine. nothing is frozen - except the ice - and every effort is made to include all natural, local ingredients. the food is excellent. full flavors and well prepared. between the four of us, we had the farm bird - half-chicken with sweet potato fennel hash, pig & fig - arugula salad with prisuitto, bleu cheese and figs, bbq banh mi - pulled pork baquette with veggies, cilantro and korean bbq sauce, and the mesquite smoked duck breast. on the down side, with the exception of the banh mi, none were big portions - which is fine, except they were all a bit pricey. the star, though, was the whiskey cake - a toffee tort with a bourbon anglaise topped with spiced pecans and whipped cream. we're likely to gobackjust to share a whiskey cake! it was very original and very good - everyone loved them. love the concept, enjoyed the food, but expect to spend some money if you go.

boozy cake and half a chicken. i love whiskey cake, my wife loves whiskey cake, we all love whiskey cake!

we ate here quite a bit when we first started dating. excellent date place, good beer, great food. there's thing where you can get like half a chicken on a bed of sweet potato hash. it's kinda awesome. also, great salads!

when we movedbackto the area, we wentbackand it's still really good. had the brunch for the first time, excellent chicken and waffles.

and, of course, the titular whiskey cake. rich and boozy, a great way to end a meal. my only problem would be that i prefer fries to chips, and chips is their thing with the sandwich style entrees. but i think i'll live.

good food!!!!. i found the fried green tomatoes to be pretty good. they really came out hot. my daughter had a house salad and the mussels. the mussels came in a bowl in a kind of soup. she said they were very good. mixed drinks were pretty pricey. i have heard they have the coldest beer in town, but i did not try it. while the food was very good, there are other restaurants i prefer. we did have the whiskey cake for dessert and it was also very good. i would gobackhere. also, we sat at the bar and the service was excellent.

went midday on a saturday, and seated immediately (last time we tried to get in was a saturday evening and the wait was up to 1 hour...what is this 4th street in austin?).
great service; love the idea of locally sourced food and scratch kitchen (the kind of place on ddd)...
the deviled eggs are worth the trip, esp. since it's an item more likely seen at an old-school church potluck as opposed to the menu of a chic and hip new restaurant in north dfw (plano)!
the omg burger was just that, onions, meat and goodness. i would order it again and again; and the homemade chips were good, although could be a bit more salty.
will bebackfor dessert!

very disappointed .... first visit today ... called in a take-out order for burger and fries. was told order would be about 25 mins. i arrive there in 30 mins and the bartender went to thebackto get my order. no biggee ... i get home where i live 5 mins away from whiskey cake only to be disappointed that my fries were not only cold, they were also old (not fresh). it just ruined the whole meal for me. when you pay premium price for burger and fries (which costs me $16), the least one would expect is fresh fries. the fries weren't even remotely hot - they were room temperature and dried out. never again will i go there. if you can't get an order as simple as burger and fries correct, i surely won't waste my hard earned money at this place ordering there again.

the bar is phenomenal, the atmosphere is warm and inviting. the service has always been great. the menu has a good selection for dinner but a wonderful selection for lunch. the pulled pork sliders and burgers are well crafted. i think the dinner entrees are less popular as this is not a bob's steak and chop house but more of a family social upscale laidbackintimate feel. this place has many options, menu and seating. i like it!

great place!. after reading some reviews on urbanspoon, we decided to give whiskey cake a try, but were a little apprehensive....
i am so glad we went - it was fantastic!
we called ahead and tried to book a table, but were told they only take bookings of parties of 12 or more - so for a saturday night, we might be facing a wait of between 25 and 55 minutes. we were a bit worried, as we have a 5 and 2 year old, but we got there at about 7pm and our party of 6 was seated straight away!!
we ordered cocktails and kids meals straight away (anticipating a long wait) and they all arrived within about 5 minutes, which was impressive! one thing i will say - we ordered 2 kids meals (cheeseburgers) and each child got 2 huge sliders, so it could easily be split between 2.
we tried a few different cocktails & beers and everyone was happy with their choices. the omg burger was precisely that, nom nom nom, and the whiskey cake was delicious and light. everyone's meal was cooked perfectly and tasted great, the service was efficient and the ambiance of the place is very cool.
we will definitely be goingbackto try more things on the menu, the cocktails and 50+ varieties of scotch, whiskey & bourbon! the whiskey cake is a great escape from so many of the chain eateries that clutter plano... two thumbs up! :o)

bad experience & we were looking forward to trying this restaurant. wasn't crowded on sunday night, but hostess put us in a side room with a loud giant tv. my $10 burger was cold & greasy & you have to pay extra for fries. i really miss plano tavern which used to be here. why would they stick us in a cold loud tv room when there was plenty of space in the nice other areas. will not goback& really wanted to like it.
