place suited for all occasions. i love this place. in the heart of chinatown and yet not too expensive with a very wide variety of foods avaliable. always consistant with their good quality and welcoming customer service. nice decor and feel very welcoming with private little spaces to feel cosy and isolated from other noisy tables. i rate this 7.5/10.

fun!. went here on a saturday night. we had the earlier seating (6.30pm, i think). you'll have to book if you want a table on a friday or saturday night, i reckon. the touch-screen ordering system was a huge hit with our group. just don't let the ones who tend to get carried away next to it! the food and drinks were brought out really quickly. this is nice japanese but not the same as places like sono. a fun night!

this place is very practicall. screen on the end of the table to make your order and it arrives quite promptly. food was excellent. you sit in a booth. set your own pace. need to book as it is very popular.

been back. excellent again. the scallops and mushrooms in butter were well worth a mention. thanks. 👏👏👏👏.

i was surprised how much i enjoyed controlling the pace of the meal.

dumplings galore! image courtesy of broadsheet.com.au ever since tom and i returned from hong kong we have become obsessed with dumplings. chinese, japanese..we aren’t choosy and with the recent explosion of dumpling restaurants around brisbane we are clearly not the only ones! so i’ve compiled a list of brisbane’s best joints to grab yourself a gyoza. happy little dumplings with multiple locations around brisbane, happy little dumplings have you covered with a range of gourmet and vegetarian dumpling options, vietnamese rolls and steamed buns. i normally hit up the barracks location (why leave your suburb if you don’t have to) and the service is always quick and friendly. the chinese chilli duck dumplings are to die for and you can follow up your dinner with a scrumptious mango pancake. can you say yummo! brunswick social cocktails, beer and wine? check. dumplings for all occasions? yup. a an utterly adorable resident pooch called mr chow? why of course! brunswick social is one of bri

i have been to wagaya a few times now, and have never been disappointed. prompt service, great ambiance, and delicious food is a constant at this place. the self ordering system is great and easy to use, the only downside during our last visit is that they misplaced our reservation, so we had a short wait to be seated. will definitely return and recommend to anyone who likes japanese cuisine.

i love this place!. a few nights ago was the fourth time i've gone to wagaya with my boyfriend. the sushi is very good, also really enjoy the ramen and eel. there is a great selection - almost too many choices! i love the cocktails and the iced green tea (it's one of the best drinks i've ever had, and i order it every time). the staff are friendly and kind, though there's less of face-to-face service since you use the on-screen ordering system. i like the privacy of the booths - with small groups of people it's a fun little private party! it has a very happy atmosphere. glad to be able to validate parking as well.

wagaya is my happy place. just walking in the door to the sound of the twinkly music makes me smile, though probably this is also at least partially in anticipation of delish food in a beautiful environment. the ambiance is gorgeous, and staff are so lovely -- wonderfully friendly, but wonderfully out-of-your-face once you're seated too. menu's a little bit harder at lunch as a vegetarian, but come dinner, the teriyaki tofu is so good. also wonderful tempura vegetables and warmed sake. don't ever go away!

first time here and will definitely come back. amazing atmosphere. everything is all black and your tables/booths are in private sections so it was very quiet and private. they have the proper japanese tables that you sit down into. food was amazing and came out quickly, everything very fresh. only complaint is that the menu was really small, i guess that's why they are able to master everything they do. also not pictured was takoyaki which was about the same as any other place. the open cone roll is soft shell crab. chicken gyoza. crumbed chicken sushi

disappointed. we tried wagaya as it was number 2 on urban spoon but were very disappointed. the food was average and drinks expensive. the electronic ordering was cool and food came really quickly but we won't be back. hosakawa in hamilton is leaps and bounds better. as is the sushi train at bulimba.

disappointed. first time back in about a year. it used to be one of my favorite japanese resturant. the lunch manual raised the price to $16 -16.5 for a ramen set meal and the quality has gone down. the rice used to be a large bowl of fried rice with veg and meat and now replaced with a small bowl of curry rice and the curry paste seem to be watered down and worst than the curry rice that you get from a franchise japnese fast food store. ramen is average compared with other new ramen shops in sunnybank and no double noodle. the gyoza is a bit dry and not juicy. tantan miso ramen cost more than char siu ramen and does not have much mince in it.

great sashimi, interesting ordering system. this place is amazing. i love the ordering system of the ipad at the end of the table. warning! you may order more than you can eat.

the tuna sashimi was melt-in-your-mouth delicious.

the grilled eel, which i have never liked anywhere else i have tried it, will make me try it other places. the sauce on the eel is gorgeous and the eel melts in your mouth.

the rolls could do with less mayo, but that might be my dislike of japanese mayo.

the gyoza is perfect, soft and well pan-fried with awesome flavour.

they seem to love grapfruit juice in their cocktails. i was somewhat disappointed that the cocktail menu was not clearer as to what was in each drink.

the green tea cheesecake is disgusting. do not order it. it's as if someone just smashed dried green tea into a day-old cheesecake and re-formed it. avoid!!

despite a weird cocktail and a bad taste of someone's dessert, i would highly highly recommend wayama to anyone who loves japanese food.

this is a great japanese restaurant where you order food from a screen at your table so no waiting for someone to come to your table and no having to get up to order. inside it is cosy with booth style tables that give you a private dining experience. the food is tasty with a large selection of japanese standards to choose from.
