mediocre at best.. i was excited to try a new restaurant by my house, so took a friend there for her birthday. we got seated promptly and was immediately brought water and bread. i was impressed by the upscale decor. things stared to go downhill when i asked the waitress what she liked to eat there. she told us that she didn't eat there much as it is kind of pricy and they didn't give her a big discount. how do they expect their waitstaff to sell their food if they don't let them eat it without paying almost full price? come on, make a plate or two every shift and let the staff at least sample the dishes!
my friend got the thai steak salad and said it was delicious. i tried the fish tacos and while not outstanding, it was acceptable for the price.
after we finished our main courses, a lady came by to pick up our dishes. she was either one of the owners or the manager. she asked us if we wanted dessert! but didn't know what they had when we asked her. she sent the waitress to get our dessert order. we were told the apple cobbler was outstanding some ordered it and coffee. the coffee arrived luke-warm. but it was good coffee, so would have been excellent if it had been hot. the apple cobbler was ok. a huge plate of it arrived. the apples were sliced really large and hard to eat with the spoons they brought us, but very tasty. the ice cream was high quality and good. it was the 'biscuits' they had on it that confounded me. the literally looked like breakfast biscuits, but were extremely hard and dry. we had to take a fork to break them up to eat them and they were not sweet at all. really strange. seemed like yesterday's hard biscuits on top of what could have been an incredible dessert.
overall, i spent $50, including tip. a very expensive lunch for two. i won't go back until i hear that the rough edges have been smoothed out.
