vine

mother's day delight. took my mother and father out yesterday and was amazed with the level of service and quality of food, especially given how busy they were. best italian i've had in brisbane with huge food servings.

this is the first time a restaurant rated so highly has been such a disappointment. we arrived at vine for mother's day lunch, our party of five stood and waited we were not greeted for some time. the entree and bread were nice. we waited an hour and a half for our mains, even though they were working on a reduced menu for mother's day. when we enquired about our meals we were told ten minutes no apology offered. our meals arrived twenty minutes later. the gnocchi had no sauce and was salty. the chicken pasta dish was like they got a boiling hen and cooked it down until the chicken was in threads. overall we were disappointed with vine and do not recomend it.

refurbished and just as fabulous!. i haven't been here for awhile, but noticed the renovations going on a few weeks ago. i love this place, the food, the staff, the owners. so mothers day was a great opportunity to go back for breakfast. the interior is lovely, we sat up the back and it was warm, quiet, dark and comforting. nice padded seats around the edges. first i have to say, from the original booking phone call to the day....the staff were lovely, so friendly and helpful. and even though my booking for a busy mothers day was a bit late, the recommendations to come a bit earlier so they could fit us in was perfect. all the staff who looked after us this morning were smiling, happy, friendly and attentive. nothing was a bother - yet they didn't crowd or pester us....perfect. coffee was good, way better than i expected. food was delicious. perfect crusty italian style bread, eggs cooked as each individual wanted them, scrumptious bacon and a lovely tomato italian style salsa. just plain yum!

wait a while. after a saturday morning jog, a quick and large feed was warranted. yet after an hour and half wait, i was ready to eat my arm! when the food finally arrived, after almost 2 hours!, we were pleasantly surprised. excellent vegetarian breakfast with chewy haloumi and perfect scrambled eggs and the leg ham with hollandaise sauce were exceptional. mince on toast was a little rich and salty for breakfast but our hunger got the better of us and we consumed the lot.
will we be back? maybe if i order a few days in advance.

great experience, as usual.. had the fillet steak (for about the fifth time) at vine the other night and, as usual, it was delicious and well cooked (i ordered it done 'medium'). accompaniments were very nice also, as was the bearnaise sauce (and yes, according to my copy of larousse gastronomique, the sauce had all the indicia of a bearnaise - cf. a previous reviewer's comments). staff, as usual, were polite and friendly. at this price-point this is a very good restaurant indeed, and in my view compares favorably against other restaurants in this category in many cities around the world.

great restaurant. this is one of our favourite restaurants in brisbane. we are regulars and tend to order the same dishes (panzanella salad, chicken sandwich or quail salad for lunch and seafood tagliatelle, fillet steak, roasted kipfler potatoes and mixed greens for dinner). the food is consistently of a high standard. the wine list is very good and the coffee is first rate. the wait-staff are always friendly and attentive. ambience is great. we really enjoy coming here.

the menu has a mix of modern and traditional italian dishes and we had a little trouble deciding on what we would have. it was one of those times where we could easily have had the dishes, but that's not the life of a food blogger, so we eventually made our selections and settled in. after ordering, it gave us an opportunity to take a good look at the interior of vine, which felt very comfortable yet refined, with white linen table cloths and beautiful cutlery.

breakfast recommendation. i had breakfast at vine on sunday 24 may 2015. although we had to wait quite a while for drinks (considering a lot of tables appeared to have been served), our breakfast was served quite quickly after it had been ordered (the meals did come out a little separately however, probably 3-4 minute wait for last meal.. could have been timed a little better for 5 star service).after much deliberation, mainly due to the fact that i didn't really feel like a sweet breakfast, i decided on the belgian cookie dough waffle with salted caramel sauce and vanilla bean ice-cream because... well how can you not order it with a name like that? and boy oh boy am i glad i did - it was one of the best breakfasts i've ever eaten. you have to try it. in saying that, the people i was dining with were both 100% happy with their meals too (bacon and eggs & the corn fritters with haloumi). but seriously, don't go to vine for breakfast without ordering the waffles. also, i noticed that most of these reviews are focused on lunch and dinner.. definitely don't discount this little gem for breakfast. if the service had been a tiny bit faster and our drinks/meals got delivered at the same time, it would be a 5 star rating. well done vine! rating: 4.5 / 5 stars.

amazing food! celebrated with a group of friends for a 40th birthday. such friendly and attentive service but the stand out for everyone at the table was the food. executed perfectly and so generous in size! will be back and recommending to all

great al fresco dining with the best pasta dishes i have had in brisbane although a tad pricey.

i meant to have new year eve celebration here last year but the booking has been cancelled for some reason.
i arranged to have a dinner with my daughter here on last friday.
venue was good and service was attentive.
we ordered the seared scallop and octopus for entrees. scallop was very fresh. the chargrilled octopus was my favorite, which was done with balanced taste. both entree plating were good. next came the mains of quail and rigatoni. quail was tenderized and the purée done with chestnut and pistachio matched the dish well. pasta dish was al dente. hero should be the dose dish of greens. the chef really knows how to cook vegetables.
at the end, we ordered buffalo blue and pecorino manchego to go with coffee for the full stop of this dinner.

came here for a lovely dinner with my husband. we ordered the 3 course degustation which was fabulous. the service was a little on the slow side for our table. we had a group of 4 as well as another couple arrive about 10-15 mins after us and both tables would either get their drinks or meals served before us. however we weren't too bothered by it.
our meals were absolutely delicious!! the calamari was soft paired with the beautiful chickpea puree. the ravioli in the ragu was amazing and the slow cooked lamb was so soft, melt in your mouth and coated is such a yummy sauce. we bypassed on dessert as we were too full!
when we got the bill, the degustation was overcharged for some reason- was $69 pp on the menu but we got charged $75. we spoke to the waitress about it but, again, we didn't mind as we were tipping anyway and it would have just been a smaller tip. we will be back!

a wide range of dishes from which to choose. we had the market fish which fresh and well cooked. lovely al greco tables in a quiet inner city pocket.

jules and i had a great night at the vine.  she suggested if we did the the vine way we wouldn't in this mess....  
we'll be back with the kids..

vine is a marvellous consistent italian restaurant. seasonal produce and menus. great wine and advice. give it a try! it will not disappoint.
