villa maya heritage restaurant

this is one of the worst restaurants we have visited as a family. the hospitality, the approach, the problems for reaching and coming back to kovalam are pathetic. the food and theservicewere horrendous. the review is 100% genuine and supported by a bill from the hotel. go at your own risk especially on a weekend. transportation is impossible and exorbitant. the restaurant and it's food are the least things to talk about. wish things were better. once in a lifetime for us , was once too much!

the ambience is breathtaking, and a perfect venue for a romantic dinner, or if you want to propose. theserviceis sophisticated, and there is a live band playing classical music. the food is good, not top class, but good enough. nonetheless, i really enjoyed my time, and i’ll definitely visit when i’m in kerala again.

we visited villa maya on 6th jan 2021. this was our first visit to this restaurant, i was accompanied by my wife and parents. every one liked the taste with special mention of crispy fried prawns and syrian beef fry which were awesome 👌. their welcome drink was really refreshing. theservicenot to mention was very accommodating considering request from my elderly parents. they had maintained social distancing and all other norms as required. being a heritage restaurant its bit costlier than others in this area. they have enough parking space in side the property.

the ambience is sophisticated and nice. outdoor seating is better as inside it can get warm. covd rules followed very clearly. however i feel the menue can be designed better as there was very limited options to choose from specially for vegetarians. the food taste was good andserviceis great.

the welcome drink and fruits given after meal is nice gesture.

i don’t think there is a restaurant in trivandrum to compare with villa maya. excellentserviceand quality food. ambience is superb. thanks to the chef, thanks to villa maya

showed up on the must visit restaurant search and was definitely worth it. loved the ambience... distancing and sanitisation protocols were in place... wonderfulservice& mouth watering good.

went with gattu ki galauti... a melt in the mouth pumpkin kabab with semolina flat bread. very flavourful and tasted amazing with the pineapple, mint and apple chutneys.
thai soup with chicken and mushroom was a bit heavy for my liking, add some rice and voila you have some thai red curry. can't complain on the taste though.

for main course we had the villa maya mutton biryani and kodumpuli fish curry. biryani was flowy and well cooked however lacked the character of a nice hyderabadi dum biryani.. for 800 bucks a plate, was a bit on the expensive side.
the fish curry though with generous amounts of cocum and wel cut pieces was a sea food delight.
chocolate coffee fudge with caramel and ice cream was what was suggested and didn't disappoint. the

overall experience was 4.5/5.

great ambiance! truly a heritage place. the cleanliness sets an example. staff is extremely polite andserviceis great not outstanding. food has a large room for improvement. worth one visit.

we have been looking for a good kerala authentic restaurant in trivandrum as we were traveling from mumbai.. this place was the right one.. excellent authentic food, serene ambience,
initialserviceexperience was not to our expectations but then mr murali the manager and chef partha made it all right.

good ambience, extremely beautiful setting. the outdoor garden/hut seating is a must try. you pay for the sights. food is pretty average and priced atleast 3 tiers above its required price point for the taste. had chicken biryani (average), syrian beef fry (chewy meat), chicken fricassee (pretty good), chocolate milkshake (amul ice cream or cadburys drinking chocolate basically).serviceis hit or miss and highly inconsistent. used to be an extremely good dining place with emphasis on good food. seems to have disappeared over time. will not visit again unless there is a new menu/substantial change.

nice place with great ambience, courteous staff and delicious food.servicecan be improved. will return if ever come back to the city.

we went to villa maya for lunch. the ambience was great and theservicewas brilliant. special mention for mr.nikhil(apologies if i'm getting the name wrong). he walked us through the menu very patiently and helped us make our choices. i'm a vegan and hence had certain restrictions. he was wonderful with understanding my requirements. he made our experience extremely enjoyable and memory. my husband loved the meal. he had this look of extreme satisfaction when he was done. will definitely recommend this place to anyone who is looking for professional and courteous staff along with a great culinary experience. great going folks. ofcourse i would request you to have more vegan options.

villa maya takes fine dining to a whole different level. the ambience is to die for. it's quite unbelievable to think such a space exists among the hustle and bustle of the city. theserviceis excellent and the food is delicious. great portions too. they are on the higher side of things when it comes to price but i feel it's worth to dish out a few bucks for a memorable gastronomic experience!

today was my first visit to villa maya after they changed their menu few months back. started off with their complimentary pani puris :d tried the chicken fricassee, sea salt crusted fish fillet, crispy fried prawns , buffalo chicken wings and chicken pasta. all the items were cooked to perfection. theservicewas great too, special mention to mr. vishakh, who was extremely helpful and also had detailed knowledge of the food we ordered. we were there to celebrate a wedding anniversary and the special gooey chocolate cake given by vm was amazing too.

right from the front traditional porch to the 18th century heritage style ambience the experience of this place is so overwhelming that it completely leads upto the expectation of the food standard that one would desire. theservicewas splendid

the place is great .. we had dinner and order margarita pizza, fries, mutton biryani and a paneer dish. the food was delicious :) .. all the items were great in taste and presentation. they gave masala tea and a papdi chat as welcome drink (&snack) that was yummy too ... the ambiance was awesome with candles lit on the tables(out door seating). theservicewas bit slow(which they inform us in the beginning itself) but if you have good company you won't get bored. very pricey ( of course not 1000 for 2 it would be around 2000 but not 1k for 2 as mentioned in zomato).. not at all crowded...
