villa maya heritage restaurant

i visited villa maya on a december afternoon and maybe that's why the heat didn't bother me (read a lot of reviews complaining about the heat). we took a seat outside and i absolutely loved the ambience. it is hands down one of the most beautiful restaurants in the country. the food was quite decent if not extraordinary and the portion could be better. what really needs some work is their service. overall, villa maya is my favorite place to visit in trivandrum. one should visit it atleast to experience theambienceif not for the food.

theambienceis breathtaking, and a perfect venue for a romantic dinner, or if you want to propose. the service is sophisticated, and there is a live band playing classical music. the food is good, not top class, but good enough. nonetheless, i really enjoyed my time, and i’ll definitely visit when i’m in kerala again.

went there with my family. food is a little expensive but worth every penny. theambienceis to die for. very unique experience. the staff is very hospitable and cooperated at every step. must go for anyone visiting trivandrum

bumped into this place accidentally when we were around trivandrum city. but turned out to be one of the best dinner experience.
ambience - it's a palace turned into villa maya with royal decors amd interiors. i wouldn't call it a restaurant because it doesn't look like a normal restaurant.ambienceis that amazing.
staff - very courteous. mr. rajesh recommended some good choices as per our preference. the main chef also made it a point to speak to the customers as far as possible and take direct feedback.
menu - they have limited items on the menu to offer. but whatever they have is a bit different and worth a try.
we ordered a sweet potato based starter, prawns biriyani and tiramisu.
we were served with lemon and pinapple mixed welcome drink which was refreshing, along with a piece of papdi chat.
the starter sweet potato balls (mathurakizhangu) was something different than the usual ones we have in restaurants. sweet potato had cheese fillings with tadka. served along with green chutney.
prawns biriyani - very well cooked with proper flavour (nothing too much). didn't feel heavy at all. by this you can make out that there is no soda or any other preservatives added to this food (soda that makes you feel heavy after eating). one biriyani portion was sufficient enough for two people.
tiramisu - is their signature dessert. it has brownie and chocolate sauce covered with a den shaped chocolate layer, on which hot caramel sauce is poured. served along with ice cream. it is definitely delicious. different experience.
the team also took care of covid safety precautions.
price - well, you will be surprised. considering this one of the best restaurants in india and with various worldwide recognitions, we felt the pricing was fair enough for such amazing taste and experience. definitely worth it.

one of the best restaurant in trivandrum. theambienceis really good with soft music playing at the background. thanks to mr murali for the amazing hospitality in decorating the place beautifully and making our anniversary a grand one. needless to mention mr parthasarathi who cooked delicious food for us. each and every staffs maintained the present covid protocol. thanks to the entire team of villa maya.

theambienceis sophisticated and nice. outdoor seating is better as inside it can get warm. covd rules followed very clearly. however i feel the menue can be designed better as there was very limited options to choose from specially for vegetarians. the food taste was good and service is great.

the welcome drink and fruits given after meal is nice gesture.

i have to say, i was rather excited to visit this venue. it would quite possibly be the world luxury award (wla) winning restaurant, i would have visited in kerala.
theambiencewas breath taking. a beautiful blend of old world heritage and sophistication; wonderfully paired with food prepared using modern techniques.

i had walked in to the premises in awe only to have that facade ripped wide open by the way the staff addressed us. my husband (he is indian, i am not) has often reminded me of the cultural and linguistic barriers in india. i would like to chalk this up to that. however, i would like to point out that a restaurant that has numerous wla, should most certainly have the best customer service... not the cold, sleepy, shoulder shrugging condescending approach that we faced. (it took them 45 mins to get us water)

i digress, the menu is plentiful. it is both exciting and familiar at the same time. the description of the dishes truly does get ones mouth salivating. my husband did point out the difference between nirachathu and narachathu... the former i believe means stuffed / filled and the later means gone grey / faded. i believe the later was a typo. nevertheless, such oversights shouldn’t be expected in the menu of a wla winner.

the food was decent but lacked the promised sophistication of the venue. the flavour was either bland or salty, making it rather unbalanced. the worst dish we experienced was the chicken freakazoid! that chicken was fibrous and tougher than the beef dish we had ordered! it was over cooked to the point that the chicken didn’t know it was a chicken anymore! having said that, the sauce of the dish was palatable and to point of being moorish.
the desert was a beautiful spectacle with the theatre of pouring the toffee caramel and the melting of the chocolate structure etc.

all in all, i have enjoyed my experience. i would willingly visit again, perhaps after a few months to check in on more items on the menu. hopefully by that time, they would have trained their wait staff to be more engaging with the dinners, to be more attentive to their needs. i really hope these guys improve, i see a lot of potential.

as soon as you reach, you are astounded by theambiencebeautiful gazebos, koi ponds plus the architectural marvel of a building amazes you...
theambiencehere is the most striking feature about restaurant.... it shows the quality of the restaurant.... this is a fine dining please and hence it's expensive.the quality and taste of the food is awesome.... and their dessert list is a foodies must have.... it is the one of the my best and the favourite restaurant i have visited till now.. whenever i will come here i will visit this restaurant once again...

theambiencehere is the most striking feature about restaurant. this is a fine dining place and hence it’s expensive. but the food quality and taste does not justify the price unlike other fine dining restaurants.the starters are not very tasty and the quantity is very less. but the main course dishes are amazing and authentic. i surely recommend everyone to visit this place once, for the amazingambienceand a chance to click some nice pics.

we went to villa maya for lunch. theambiencewas great and the service was brilliant. special mention for mr.nikhil(apologies if i'm getting the name wrong). he walked us through the menu very patiently and helped us make our choices. i'm a vegan and hence had certain restrictions. he was wonderful with understanding my requirements. he made our experience extremely enjoyable and memory. my husband loved the meal. he had this look of extreme satisfaction when he was done. will definitely recommend this place to anyone who is looking for professional and courteous staff along with a great culinary experience. great going folks. ofcourse i would request you to have more vegan options.

if you are swinging by trivandrum or if you want to go to a fancy place for that special occasion then look no further. theambienceis 5 star and the food covers the typical malyali affair. the taste is good but tempered for the tourists palate. a must go to place overall!

villa maya takes fine dining to a whole different level. theambienceis to die for. it's quite unbelievable to think such a space exists among the hustle and bustle of the city. the service is excellent and the food is delicious. great portions too. they are on the higher side of things when it comes to price but i feel it's worth to dish out a few bucks for a memorable gastronomic experience!

was extremely happy as he served us spanish jain rice and fajitas ( they were prepared v well with rite amt of spices ) chef parthasarthi put his heart & soul to feed us and cannot forget the tender coconut broth was smthing to die for with amazing staff andambience.
