i visited villa maya on a december afternoon and maybe that's why the heat didn't bother me (read a lot of reviews complaining about the heat). we took a seat outside and i absolutely loved the ambience. it is hands down one of the most beautiful restaurants in the country. the food was quite decent if not extraordinary and the portion could be better. what really needs some work is their service. overall, villa maya is my favorite place to visit in trivandrum. one should visit it atleast toexperiencethe ambience if not for the food.

showed up on the must visit restaurant search and was definitely worth it. loved the ambience... distancing and sanitisation protocols were in place... wonderful service & mouth watering good.

went with gattu ki galauti... a melt in the mouth pumpkin kabab with semolina flat bread. very flavourful and tasted amazing with the pineapple, mint and apple chutneys.
thai soup with chicken and mushroom was a bit heavy for my liking, add some rice and voila you have some thai red curry. can't complain on the taste though.

for main course we had the villa maya mutton biryani and kodumpuli fish curry. biryani was flowy and well cooked however lacked the character of a nice hyderabadi dum biryani.. for 800 bucks a plate, was a bit on the expensive side.
the fish curry though with generous amounts of cocum and wel cut pieces was a sea food delight.
chocolate coffee fudge with caramel and ice cream was what was suggested and didn't disappoint. the

overallexperiencewas 4.5/5.

my family and i visited this place on the 1st of january to kick start the new year and also celebrate my dad’s birthday. this place is aesthetically really pleasing. we were really tempted to be seated at the patio or al fresco in presence of the fishes but gave it a pass since it was a sunny day.

they welcome you with a complimentary dish which includes a lemon amla shot and papdi chat. it was really refreshing. the dishes we ordered were-
1. chicken makhmali
2. gulabi tikki
3. chicken fricassee
4. kappa with fish curry
5. nalli biryani
6. coffee chocolate fudge with salted caramel sauce
7. apple and blueberry crumble pie with vanilla ice cream

every dish made us happy. the pineapple chutney that was served along with the starters definitely needs a special mention. don’t give it a miss. the mutton in the biryani was so succulent, soft and falling off the bone which is the way i love it the best.

the next time i am in the city, i’ll definitely visit in the evening to dig on the outdoorexperience!

great job team villa maya !!

we went to villa maya for lunch. the ambience was great and the service was brilliant. special mention for mr.nikhil(apologies if i'm getting the name wrong). he walked us through the menu very patiently and helped us make our choices. i'm a vegan and hence had certain restrictions. he was wonderful with understanding my requirements. he made ourexperienceextremely enjoyable and memory. my husband loved the meal. he had this look of extreme satisfaction when he was done. will definitely recommend this place to anyone who is looking for professional and courteous staff along with a great culinary experience. great going folks. ofcourse i would request you to have more vegan options.

was looking to spend the afternoon (before i could catch my flight in the evening) and i stumbled upon villa maya. to tell you, i was really amazed by this place. the sheer ambience and attention to customer delight stands out for me. the outside dining area is surrounded by water with fish in it. inside dining area also has a very premium feel to it. i ordered a north indian veg platter and double spice kerala fish dish( do not remember the name, it was above the achari fish tikka). north indian platter included breads, sweets, dal, curry and paneer tikka. the fish dish was very well presented, extremely soft and tasty. it is a must try.

of note, their menu is like a wooden box and opens with the background of the restaurant on the first page. however, all this premium feel in this restaurant does come at a price and here it is quite heavy on the pocket.

lastly, do visit the washrooms as well once. you will have amazing views andexperience:-p.

value for money - 4/5 ( on the basis of ambience)
ambience - 5/5
food - 5/5
service - 5/5

it is a must visit when in trivandrum.

fellow foodies, let me introduce y'all to these aesthetic dishes displayed from villa maya, the restaurant which has won many notable awards globally by the luxury restaurant awards which is indeed a commendable feat

before i start, i'll be pointing out the dishes based on numericals from left to right. so my friend and i started off with their soups - tom kha gai (1) and nalli shorba (2), then ordered a starter - erachi chuttu idichathu (3), then moved on to the main course - chicken fricassee (4),
moroccan lamb tagine (5) and trio of paneer (6). we have concluded with this due to time constraints.

now when it comes to the price of these dishes, it is going to leave my foodies baffled. so as to justify their price, this is not your everyday casual dining spot as it provides a state of the art diningexperiencein trivandrum as the set up brings out a tropical as well as a holiday vibe, so while at villa maya, make sure it is for a memorable occassion with your loved ones. (it has been awarded with such privileges for a reason). if you want to know about the prices, do let me know on the comments.

a couple of my colleagues and i wanted to take a break after a packed day at an event in trivandrum. considering one of my peers' suggestion, we landed in this mesmerizing heritage place for dinner.

' villa maya', has a perfect blend of comfort, hygiene, and antique touch in the real sense. from wooden seating to copper and brass cutlery in which food is served, has an aesthetic touch to it. the restaurant is an 18th-century ancestral villa surrounded by lush green foliage and stretch of water filled with vibrant goldfishes. it was like a painting come alive.

we sat on the patio, well gazebos were tempting spots to sit but they were all occupied. hence we had no other choice but to sit here and start with our dinner. before we could pick up the menu cards, we were handed over with fresh face towels by stewards to soothe ourselves after which they took our order. initially, we ordered for some cool refreshers, lemon ginger shots followed by this we ordered some starters which included prawn minestrone soup that was relieving in cool weather, veg platter which had paneer kebab, which was a bit bland, 'paneer trio of three' was delicious coupled with pineapple chutney, do ask for it. for the main course, we had appam and veg curry which had rich coconut milk and ended this good meal with baked yogurt.

all in all good ambiance and fresh food made our day. taking the cost of food into consideration the place is a bit on the expensive side.

to summarise overallexperience

service - staff aware of good cuisines and very hospitable 5/5
food - local, oriental, continental, etc. 4/5
ambiance - peaceful and rejuvenating. 5/5
