a couple of my colleagues and i wanted to take a break after a packed day at an event in trivandrum. considering one of my peers' suggestion, we landed in this mesmerizing heritage place for dinner.
' villa maya', has a perfect blend of comfort, hygiene, and antique touch in the real sense. from wooden seating to copper and brass cutlery in which food is served, has an aesthetic touch to it. the restaurant is an 18th-century ancestral villa surrounded by lush green foliage and stretch of water filled with vibrant goldfishes. it was like a painting come alive.
we sat on the patio, well gazebos were tempting spots to sit but they were all occupied. hence we had no other choice but to sit here and start with our dinner. before we could pick up the menu cards, we were handed over with fresh face towels by stewards to soothe ourselves after which they took our order. initially, we ordered for some cool refreshers, lemon ginger shots followed by this we ordered some starters which included prawn minestrone soup that was relieving in cool weather, veg platter which had paneer kebab, which was a bit bland, 'paneer trio of three' was delicious coupled with pineapple chutney, do ask for it. for the main course, we had appam and veg curry which had rich coconut milk and ended this good meal with baked yogurt.
all in all good ambiance and fresh food made our day. taking the cost of food into consideration the place is a bit on the expensive side.
