one word...outstanding. theshrimpand grits were delicious. i almost got talked out of them but i stuck to my guns and ordered them. thankfully they lived up to my expectations. a good portion, great flavor, and even better presentation. it was more than enough!!! and the crab soup was a surprising addition to my meal as well. so worth the upcharge!!!

ate here during a recent savannah visit to celebrate my wife's birthday. we had a crab cake appetizer, wife hadshrimpand grits, and i had the lamb shank. lump crab cake most likely the best in savannah.shrimpalso very fresh and grits truly southern. hard to find lamb shank very tender with an outstanding glaze. service was very good.

only one negative. i casually mentioned the birthday celebration to our hostess who passed that info to the server. much to our surprise, we were served a chocolate ganache for dessert. even more of a surprise was the $15.00 charge for a "celebration!" had i known we were going to be charged, we would have had something else, or more likely nothing at all. not to spoil the dinner, i quietly went ahead and paid for it. the chances are they probably knew i wouldn't make a deal about it. after all it was a "celebration!" future diners beware of what you tell the hostess!

we stopped for lunch on thursday last week. it is a nice quiet place.  my wife had a salad with fresh berries and a very flavourful light citrus vinaigrette dressing.  i had theshrimpand grits.  it was the best i have had so far on our little trip through the south. lots of shrimp, very creamy grits, flavorful gravy.
the service was ok. it may have been that we were wearing shorts (it was hot and we are on vacation), or that we were not drinking at lunch, but the service was mostly disinterested.

we ordered calamari which was good, shrimpn grits was ok allnother ahrimp n grits i've eaten have been better. my friend couldn't eat hers, a friend had the seafood stew was not to great, fish tacos weren't a big hit with us either, my wife only ate one of the two for the $13-+ that it cost. now the meatloaf! was pretty good!! and a large portion, i dont think ill be back since there is so many other restaurants in the area. only doing a review on the things i tasted, who knows maybe the other things on the menu maybe better.

quite a surprise. unbeknownst to us, we visited savannah during "restaurant week". what a wonderful surprise. vic's was highly recommended to us for their crab cakes and scallops. when we got to the restaurant their restaurant week menu did not include either of those items so we ventured off the beaten path and took a chance. we ordered the lobster andshrimpmac (macaroni and cheese) and boneless short ribs. the mac was in a light cheese sauce and was delicious but the short ribs were an amazing find. so tender that a knife was not necessary and very lean for ribs - almost no extra fat. both dishes are highly recommended depending on your tastes.

seems they're trying to do better.... party of 10 last night (a thursday) with a reservation for 6:30. waited in bar until all arrived (their idea, not ours) but this is a common restaurant rule. live piano music, nice. but generally, noise level is high. it's an old, high ceiling building.

our server, tanisha, was fabulous, especially as she was serving 8 very festive tennis players and two +1s. she was very attentive, kept the water glasses filled and the table cleared of empty plates. a very sweet young lady.

as indicated in other reviews, food was generally delish. i had sea scallops and risotto, the latter a bit crunchy (ugh). if you're a foodie, fyi, there is much fried food on the menu but you can work around it. the crab beignets (fried) were a disappointment...i mean if you like fried, they're okay but basically, fried dumplings. meh. had some of the pecan encrusted flounder. at our table, this was the star of the evening. it was fantastic with andouille sausage potatoes. others had friedshrimpand hush puppies, shrimpand grits. save your money and go to cap'n d's there.

manager came by table to make sure all was well. he was very nice and seemed sincere. seems they've taken all the negative service reviews to heart and are attempting to effect a change for the better.

plus, great view of river traffic, if you're into such.

the first hostess heard we said we didn't have a reservation and completely dismissed our presence. luckily the other male host talked to us and said he would hook us up and got us a table within 15 min. we got the beignettes to start and they were delicious. the pork chop was def the best meal. the scallops were very good as well, just a smaller portion of only 4 scallops. i got theshrimpand grits and although it was delicious; i became completely full within a few bites. super rich. beautiful atmosphere.

great weekend lunch. my family decided to try the restaurant after a local retailer advised vic's was the best dining establishment on river street.
we ordered the jumbo lump crab cake and the roasted tomato bisque soup as our appetizers. the crab cake consisted of local blue crab and came with a chilled mustard cream sauce.
we had one entrée to share and we definitely came out with a winner in the crab stuffed with wild georgia shrimp. the dish was accompanied by a lemon herb sauce, grilled asparagus, and a sweet corn rice pilaf. theshrimpwere large and plentiful.
i would definitely stop by this restaurant again when i'm visiting savannah.

excellent southern coastal cuisine. someone recommended this place for lunch when i was in town, so i ventured in. i almost never stray from salad or sandwich for lunch, but when i saw the localshrimpand smoked cheddar stone ground grits with smoked bacon and barbecue sauce, i couldn't resist. i'm glad i didn't resist. it was great. a side of collard greens and i was all set.

and it's interesting to watch the huge ships that are taller than the fourth floor of the building pass by the window. next time in savannah, i'm coming back. definitely beats garibaldi's.

elegant and tasty. my partner and i always choose vic's for a romantic night in savannah. the old-school ambience makes me feel like i'm in a movie. my favorite dish on the menu is the scallops, followed closely by theshrimpand grits. our service has always been impeccable and the price is appropriate for the quality of food. great treat for the tastebuds.
