we had another spectular dinner on vic's patio on a goregous friday night. you cannot find a better place forfoodwine and service! from our smiling, happy hostess, to our informative and delightful waitress the evening was perfect. first come first serve on the patio...it is worth the wait....

lives up to the reputation. this was our second visit to vic's, this time to celebrate a special occasion (anniversary). we requested a special table (a couple of days in advance) and the hostess was kind enough to accommodate us.

we started the meal with a glass of champagne each, and were struck with the diversity and great price point of their wine menu. unlike many high-end restaurants, vic's has a great "by the glass" selection, which came in very handy as one of us had fish and the other a rib eye steak. it's also worth noting that they have a good selection of good quality wines by the 1/2 bottle, another thing that we rarely see at restaurants of this quality.

thefoodwas very good. we started with a crab cake appetizer, which appeared to be 95% lump crab meat as "advertised" by nicky, our delightful server. the crab cake was very good, but surpassing that was the "award winning" crawfish beignet appetizer. the beignet themselves had a complex texture and were complemented perfectly by the crawfish filling and slightly sweet, red pepper syrup.

for mains, one swordfish - perfectly cooked - with a red pepper sauce and green beans (a veggie that is a favourite in savannah, and always well executed). the highlight of the dish, however, was the grits soufflé. easily the best grits ever! piping hot, creamy, laced with niblets of super sweet corn - we'll dream about that dish for a long time.

the other main: a 10 oz. pan seared rib eye with truffle butter, accompanied by a lobster suffed baked potato and sautéed spinach. the steak was done to a perfect rare, and the lobster stuffed potato was absolutely delicious!

we were too stuffed to order a dessert, but never fear. at the end of our dinner nicky arrived with a complimentary praline cheese cake, complete with two candles (one pink, one blue - nice touch!). it was delicious, and just the right amount to share.

we highly recommend vic's. the service and ambience exemplifies savannah's moniker - "the hostess city". we will be back when next we visit savannah.

great savannah food. vic's has become a tradition for lunch because thefoodis consistently good. both inside and outside seating are comfortable and though there is a lot of hard wood, the noise doesn't keep business lunchers from eating/meeting there. the menu doesn't change much, but they do have a variety from vegetarian and local fish and seafood, to chicken and meat dishes so you will find something you like.

definitely the fancy restaurant i have personally ever eaten at. i have tried the short ribs and meatloaf! very very great service and clean bathrooms. thefoodis above and beyond!

top spot - this is one of our go-to locations. we travel every week for work, so we're always on the look out for those great, reliable restaurants. this one meets the criteria. it's reliably good, no one has ever had a meal they didn't like. the service is quick without being too fast. the price is high, but goodfoodisn't cheap and cheapfoodisn't good. my only wish is that the dining room was larger so they could seat more people at once.

very relaxed, upscale yet casual atmosphere.foodis great and along with boasting a fabulous view of the historic downtown savannah river and a hospitable staff. highly recommended.

seems they're trying to do better.... party of 10 last night (a thursday) with a reservation for 6:30. waited in bar until all arrived (their idea, not ours) but this is a common restaurant rule. live piano music, nice. but generally, noise level is high. it's an old, high ceiling building.

our server, tanisha, was fabulous, especially as she was serving 8 very festive tennis players and two +1s. she was very attentive, kept the water glasses filled and the table cleared of empty plates. a very sweet young lady.

as indicated in other reviews,foodwas generally delish. i had sea scallops and risotto, the latter a bit crunchy (ugh). if you're a foodie, fyi, there is much friedfoodon the menu but you can work around it. the crab beignets (fried) were a disappointment...i mean if you like fried, they're okay but basically, fried dumplings. meh. had some of the pecan encrusted flounder. at our table, this was the star of the evening. it was fantastic with andouille sausage potatoes. others had fried shrimp and hush puppies, shrimp and grits. save your money and go to cap'n d's there.

manager came by table to make sure all was well. he was very nice and seemed sincere. seems they've taken all the negative service reviews to heart and are attempting to effect a change for the better.

plus, great view of river traffic, if you're into such.

thefoodwas great. the music was too loud and when i asked the manager to tune it down, he became very defensive and rude. would not go back again.

it was fantastic! we enjoyed dinner at the bar and lunch at a table with a fantastic view! the service was wonderful and thefoodwas absolutely delicious.

each item is superb. the waiter was extremely knowledgable of how the dishes are prepared. thefoodis complex, creative, and delightful. shrimp and grits taken to new heights. appetizer mango and lump crab tower with a fusions of flavors to amaze.

we went to vic's today for lunch. we were looking for a place with a great patio, good service, and amazingfoodand vic's was the perfect place. we enjoyed ourselves immensely and as always the atmosphere was great.
