vic's on the bay. the service and atmosphere are excellent. the situation is scenic and upscale. they make a delightful martini! the fried green tomatoes were lacking but the salad and stuffed pasta in cream sauce with vegetables were wonderful. my waitress was attentive and friendly.

crawfish beniets will change your life. the seafood pailourd is in a delicious sauce and very fresh, and the lamb shank falls apart in your mouth. amazing restaurant. reasonably priced for the quality and portion size.

lives up to the reputation. this was our second visit to vic's, this time to celebrate a special occasion (anniversary). we requested a special table (a couple of days in advance) and the hostess was kind enough to accommodate us.

we started the meal with a glass of champagne each, and were struck with the diversity and great price point of their wine menu. unlike many high-end restaurants, vic's has a great "by the glass" selection, which came in very handy as one of us had fish and the other a rib eye steak. it's also worth noting that they have a good selection of good quality wines by the 1/2 bottle, another thing that we rarely see at restaurants of this quality.

the food was very good. we started with a crab cake appetizer, which appeared to be 95% lump crab meat as "advertised" by nicky, our delightful server. the crab cake was very good, but surpassing that was the "award winning" crawfish beignet appetizer. the beignet themselves had a complex texture and were complemented perfectly by the crawfish filling and slightly sweet, red pepper syrup.

for mains, one swordfish - perfectly cooked - with a red pepper sauce and green beans (a veggie that is a favourite in savannah, and always well executed). the highlight of the dish, however, was the grits soufflé. easily the best grits ever! piping hot, creamy, laced with niblets of super sweet corn - we'll dream about that dish for a long time.

the other main: a 10 oz. pan seared rib eye with truffle butter, accompanied by a lobster suffed baked potato and sautéed spinach. the steak was done to a perfect rare, and the lobster stuffed potato was absolutely delicious!

we were too stuffed to order a dessert, but never fear. at the end of our dinner nicky arrived with a complimentary praline cheese cake, complete with two candles (one pink, one blue - nice touch!). it was delicious, and just the right amount to share.

we highly recommend vic's. the service and ambience exemplifies savannah's moniker - "the hostess city". we will be back when next we visit savannah.

amazing!. everything we ate here was to die for. my steak was cooked and seasoned perfectly. even our salad was amazing! make sure to get it with the white vinaigrette dressing. the staff was very friendly and the atmosphere with the live piano player was great.

waited over two hours for our food. waiter did not seem to care and got defensive when asked how much longer! manager walked by numerous times didn't bother to apologize or explain. good food, but will not be back.

great savannah food. vic's has become a tradition for lunch because the food is consistently good. both inside and outside seating are comfortable and though there is a lot of hard wood, the noise doesn't keep business lunchers from eating/meeting there. the menu doesn't change much, but they do have a variety from vegetarian and local fish and seafood, to chicken and meat dishes so you will find something you like.

my wife and i came to savannah and decided to try out vic’s for our first time. we actually met a local person before arriving and through small talk he indicated that vic’s was a “good place” which made us feel a little better about our choice. the waiter was great let me just say that up front. we ordered the fried green tomatoes as an appetizer and the meatloaf and fried pork chop for the main entree as well. i also ordered wine and my wife a couple of beers pre-dinner. literally about 1 minute after we placed the order the appetizer was on the table. waiter said he did not know how they so quickly got our appetizer out. minutes later we figured it out as they were cold. we politely returned them and were brought out some piping hot delicious fried green tomatoes. after our salad which was okay our dinner arrived. my pork chop and potatoes were hot and pretty good. however my told me that her meatloaf was cold. i told her to let me see it and stuck my finger into the middle which was ice cold. i mean like it was taken out of a fridge in the center. the waiter took the dish back and said he told the manager. a new hot meatloaf was brought to our table after i had finished eating. we put the majority in a to go box. the waiter said the manager “did something on our check” for the trouble. the appetizer and beer my wife drank while waiting on her new meatloaf were removed from the bill. i tipped the waiter 20% on the total bill before the reduction. i wanted to speak to the manager but my wife begged me to not speak to the manager who never came to the table with any type of apology. for the owner of this company you better train your staff and manager on how to address these issues before reservations will no longer be needed at this restaurant.

so i'm extremely upset don't know where to begin anyhow on friday aug 25,2017 a friend called vic's on the river to make specific reservations for a really special event (mama turning 50) for saturday aug 26,2017 at 7:30. we arrived at vic's on the river at 7:30 as planned we walk into hostess station and gave the information to which we knew to be correct and the host said there was no reservations for us on saturday in fact they basically looked at us as though we were lying until we produced the receipts( phone call log) they proceeded to say oh it was a mix up on their end they apologized barely with an attitude with no attempt to re compensate us with the mix up on their end and proceeded to say there was nothing they could do but put us on a 2 hr waiting list even though the ball was dropped by vic's on the river. i asked to speak to the manager her name was loree i asked so there is no compensation for the screw up they made she said no sorry 2 hour wait i know we are black and savannah is old south but i honestly felt like they were unwilling to be more help yes because of that if we were white they would've made necessary provisions. sad thing is we drove from the city of atlanta for a main event at vic's on the river that never happened i would not wish this sort of treatment on my worse enemy and i really hope this review helps lower their ratings because we are all human beings and deserve to be treated as such no matter the complexion of our skin especially when your in the service business i definitely want to expose the manager loree as a racist pig her name may be laura or lauren she was so rude and not much help at all thanks for a bad time you suck!!!
