vertigo burgers & fries

agreatburger. it was tasty and cooked perfectly.

great first experience with friendly service andgreatburgers.

burgers had fun combinations as well.

heads up on the fries. portions are huge. we got a half order of the cheese fries and it was too much for us to finish.

really wanted to like this place.greatconcept but it wasn't executed well on my visit. i upgraded to the local kbh beef and asked for it medium. i got it rare. bloody. redo came out fine but if your only menu items are burgers that really shouldn't happen. restaurant was freezing cold, chairs were uncomfortable and acoustics were really loud. atmosphere basically sucked. fries were fine but onion rings were greasy. all that being said, i will probably it give it another try sometime. until then, when i want a gourmet grass fed burger, i will make my own.

great burgers. onion rings a little over cooked with the batter falling off and not much onion inside. a bit pricey for a burger.greatshakes.

like it, but am not in a hurry to return. the place is cool, and there are a lot of fancy options, but the burger didn't satisfy in the sense that agreatburger should. the meat was cooked properly but lackedgreatflavor, and the sweet grass dairy cheese was good, but the arugula just mad it too "fancy-pants". not that i mind fancy burgers, but wanted flavors and proportions to be better for the price. the onion rings were slightly greasy and over-seasoned, and the homemade fries weren't a huge hit. nothing about the burger was particularly bad, but nothing was enticing for a return visit.

very good burgers! i like monks but like vertigo even more. best burger in tally

best onion rings i have ever had. all the burgers were amazing, and they servegreatbeer and wine options. this place is awesome!

tally...probably gets it.. my bad, tally. sorry to have demeaned you in the way that i did below. you all clearly had poor experiences that i had yet to experience, and so i was too quick to judge.

i have to totally edit and change my review. after going back three more times, i can agree with the consensus now. when i provided my glowing review, it was the day after they opened, and the burgers were cooked perfectly as were the fries (probably by folks from cypress rather than the crud-slingers they have back there now). however, since this initial visit, it has quickly gone downhill. the burgers have been consistently overcooked but somehow miraculously also simultaneously mushy, with no browning or crispness to the outside. the fries and onion rings have been nearly burned, and the staff has been confused, flustered, incompetent, rude and rather un-accomodating for things like phone orders. "we don't take phone orders when it's busy." after being told this, i show up and there are 5 people in the restaurant.

overpriced and underwhelming. skip it. which is a shame, coming from someone that could easily walk to this place and really wanted it to be a nice neighborhood restaurant. nope.

tally doesn't get it. i think this restaurant confuses tallahassee. they expect a fast food burger joint, and that is not what this place is. they are gourmet burgers. are they the best gourmet burgers you'll ever have? no. but they are pretty darn good. the cheapskate rednecks expect a cheap meal. they don't get it here and they are revolting by leaving a bad review. these are the same folks that call monks the best burger in town. gimme a break! come here for good food andgreatbeer.

vertigo has a fun restaurant, agreatlocation and the food was far from the worst i’ve had. however, vertigo’s hamburgers are very small for the price in my opinion, leaving toppings and bun to finish up without any meat.

some good some bad. a wonderful concept andgreatmenu ideas. really enjoyed the freshness of the homemade buns, which i think a lot of people fail to mention on here. home made bread is where its at. with that said, it definitely doesn't make up for the size of the burger. i think that a lot of people would appreciate this shop more if they had a bigger burger to go on the bun, which seems to be a common opinion from the masses. i got the burger with blue cheese and bacon on it, and almost felt that there was more bacon then burger! flavor of the meat was good i thought. we tried the half and half split of fries (eh) and sweet fries (ok, good dip) but the onion rings were a miss. very dry and cold. we also tried the veggie burger, which hadgreatflavor but sadly fell apart as we ate it. appreciate the homemade patty, but maybe need a better binding agent. the counter service was good, the girl was helpful with the order, however we watched the line build up and crowd some of the tables which made some people look uncomfortable. decor was nice for a small layout. overall i would give time to work out some stuff and give it another go around :)

it wasn't even a "near miss". i see fellow reviewers are grumbling about the prices. good materials and folks that can execute it don't come at the price of a whopper or quarter pounder. but, when you are trying to distinguish yourself and be upscale, it all has to work. what was seen? a prep/sides chef that was working his tail off with every order that came in. then a serving staff that made everything collapse, and collapse hard.
when a guest comes in, they wanted to be greeted promptly and in a friendly manner. they want to have questions about their options answered professionally and accurately. guests deserve attentive service; notice when beverages need replenishment. ignoring guests just because you think you're adorable and deserve a tip "just because" doesn't hack it. maybe all front of house staff should be forced to watch "restaurant stakeout" repeatedly....until it sinks in.
then this place would be worthy of a repeat visit. i had no qualms about the food. nor paying separately for sides. but when i drop a my money for an experience, i want a positive one. vertigo can be such a place. casually upscale, funky, fun. but it needs bothgreatfood andgreatservice. it could be really enjoyable. but customers are "dis-serviced".

i think it's great. i went when they first opened ad it was a bit inconsistent, but now that they've been around for a few months, the cooks and staff seem to have a better grasp on things. the creole spin and tremor burgers are unreal!

i like this place a lot...you can go to byrds or somewhere to get a good burger, but vertigo is super creative with what goes on their burgers and capture somegreatflavors! it's not just a burger like one you'd get from byrds. it's creative, and all their ingredients are apparently fresh and locally grown!

don't have any doubts about coming to vertigo...it's an awesome atmosphere and an awesome selection of burgers and flavors!

poor execution. i love the concept of this place with interesting high end burgers and specials that change. however every time i've given vertigo another chance i've been disappointed. they've forgotten orders, screwed up orders, etc.. they're very friendly but the last time they sent my table three raw hamburgers. i think that will be my last trip there, because they just can't seem to execute on thegreatidea.

vertigo burger is a good place to get a funky burger. maybe in a few month vertigo will grow up to begreatmust have place that the tallahassee foodies were hoping for, but for now the place remains a twist on a burger place with kick butt fries.

the atmosphere wasgreatbut i didn't care for my meal at all. i got the go green burger which is the vegetarian burger. it had no flavor and it was probably one of the worst veggie burgers i've had. the fries were good though!
