worst customer service (from all levels) experience ever. on last week (7/12), i called in an order for pick up. since i pretty much trust reputable businesses, i did not check my burger before leaving.  when i arrived back to my office, i realized the burger was more medium rare than medium well (along with the other three burgers that were ordered the same way).  i placed a called to the restaurant and was told a manager would call me back. no call back of course! i called after i got off from work and spoke with a manager who told me to come by and pick up another burger that evening or another day (he said he put my name down). on the following wednesday (yesterday to be exact 7/17), i called to place the order for this burger. to my surprise, i was schooled on what a medium well burger looks like and then asked who was the manager i spoke with? long story short - the individual then placed me on hold for someone to take my order (why couldn't she have taken the order is puzzling to me).  i sat on the phone for 9 minutes listening to other orders being taken, sounds from the kitchen, then what sounded like a break in between taking another order. i screamed "hello" several times and then hung up. when i got in my car, the passenger and i both continued to attempt to callback- guess phone was still off the hook. when we finally reached someone, we were told they were trying to call me back. the person on the phone started talking to someone in the background without placing the phone on hold. her conversations made it sound as if i was lying about what was going on.  she camebackto take the order, and we informed her that we could hear everything she said and also informed her that my lunch was over so i would come by after work.  i didn't gobackafter work because i was really over it at this point.  so, i guess i will never know how good the food is at vertigo all because of the customer service plus i have plenty pictures in my phone to remind me of this whole ordeal.

just ok. not the best burger i've ever had. too salty and overcooked. the concept is nice but poorly executed, and prices are a bit high for the quality of food. when we ordered no one greeted us or asked if we had ever visited. wait staff seems very inexperienced. we chose one of the tables inside and it had not been cleaned, and we waited 40 minutes for what i consider to be mediocre food. burgers shouldn't take that long. i never received my drink, and when our food arrived, one of the orders was wrong.

the fries are good, but all-around experience was certainly nothing special.

tally...probably gets it.. my bad, tally. sorry to have demeaned you in the way that i did below. you all clearly had poor experiences that i had yet to experience, and so i was too quick to judge.

i have to totally edit and change my review. after goingbackthree more times, i can agree with the consensus now. when i provided my glowing review, it was the day after they opened, and the burgers were cooked perfectly as were the fries (probably by folks from cypress rather than the crud-slingers they havebackthere now). however, since this initial visit, it has quickly gone downhill. the burgers have been consistently overcooked but somehow miraculously also simultaneously mushy, with no browning or crispness to the outside. the fries and onion rings have been nearly burned, and the staff has been confused, flustered, incompetent, rude and rather un-accomodating for things like phone orders. "we don't take phone orders when it's busy." after being told this, i show up and there are 5 people in the restaurant.

overpriced and underwhelming. skip it. which is a shame, coming from someone that could easily walk to this place and really wanted it to be a nice neighborhood restaurant. nope.

tally doesn't get it. i think this restaurant confuses tallahassee. they expect a fast food burger joint, and that is not what this place is. they are gourmet burgers. are they the best gourmet burgers you'll ever have? no. but they are pretty darn good. the cheapskate rednecks expect a cheap meal. they don't get it here and they are revolting by leaving a bad review. these are the same folks that call monks the best burger in town. gimme a break! come here for good food and great beer.

great fried green tomatoes. i didn't have a burger or fries, but my husband said his straight up burger was really good. i ordered the fried green tomatoes, they were so hot, stayed crispy quite awhile and the green goddess dip was perfect. i've been trying to do these at home for quite awhile, forget it, i'll just gobackto vertigo.

terrible, save your $$. i ordered the only chicken sandwich on the menu which was completely unseasoned and void of any flavor and might i add it was burnt! the crunchy raw green and red peppers looked and tasted like an after thought and entire sandwich was dry. my husband ordered the greak which is a lamb burger with greek flair. the husband didn't hate it but he didn't love it either. for the money, he was definitely disappointed. we ordered the half fries and half onion rings to share and let me tell you, these were totally over cooked and way beyond a nice golden brown! all is all, we will not be goingbackuntil i hear a ton of positive reviews.

we went a few weeks after opening - i know the kinks weren't yet worked out. i'll gobackin a few months. the sign said burgers cooked well-done unless specified otherwise. i specified medium rare. got it well done and dry.

easily the best burger in town. the quality of meat far surpasses every other burger place in town. pricey? yes. but worth it. c'mon now, pimento cheese and fried green tomatoes with a fresh roll?! that's almost too much delicious!
oh, and to the detractors...if you can't afford it, gobackto birds or monks and eat grade d meat with the other scangy hipsters and kids that don't know any better.

i've eaten at this place three times since it opened in august and i'm confident it's getting better. today's spread of delicious french fries, fried green tomatoes paired with bacon mayo or jalapeño ranch sauces and two delicious burgers were worth the $28 tab. that total would have been the same at the neighboring applebee's and probably more at five guys, only for poorer quality fare.
i agree bird's has excellent burgers, too, but their fries come frozen in a bag.
lastly, regarding the review with the two "anonymous" chefs from the "best restaurant in town," what ever happened to the food service rule of not picking on a restaurant into after it has been open for three months? unlike the opinion of that novice restaurant reviewer and the newspaper, an eatery is a monster machine with moving parts that only can be fine tuned in those first three months. that means mistakes will be made and hopefully fixed. i suggest our reviewer take his trio of chefsbackto the line to learn some industry etiquette.
as for our burgers today -- triple play and the vertigo -- were spot on, and the outside seating was perfect on a sunny sunday afternoon. i look forward to bringing my parents here when they visit.

yum. i went to vertigo for the first time today. i was a little skeptical after reading some of the reviews. the service was very good. we were greeted promptly, and, although the system was down, there was no delay in taking our order. i ordered the shrimp burger and shared the half and half fries and rings with my tablemate. i was absolutely delighted when the food came out. the shrimp burger was made up of large pieces of shrimp, not minced, cooked into a patty. the shrimp was cooked well, neither over- nor undercooked. the burger had a little too much remounted for my taste, but the sauce was good, as was the slaw on the burger. next time, i'll get the sauce on the side. the onion rings were fantastic. the fries were good, obviously cut in house, but fries. over all, it was a great meal and i'll definitely bebackto try some other items.

first blush. pros: interesting combinations, good veggie choice (farro and red bean burger), excellent sweet tea, better than average napkins

cons: lunch rush lends to tepid food (at least i hope it was due to the lunch rush), unorganized delivery (i recommend resorting to handing the number cards instead of calling names in a loud environment), refill service... uncomfortable (you have to stand rudely next to new customers and hope you can get noticed for a refill), their version of medium is a little on the rare side (so said my meat-eating companion).

i read the reviews and weighed my options. it's not an awful place and it's not out of this world. it could use a little organization but i'm sure that will come with time (i hope). oh! unless you can just eat tons of fries, then order the half if you are alone and share the full.

overall: i would gobackonce in a while.

worst "burger place" in town.. ok, first of all. i wanted to like this place. cypress is an excellent restaurant, and when i heard it was owned by the same fella...i was excited. i went there with two chefs from the best restaurant in town (i was requested not to reveal their identities.) we showed up around 6pm on a saturday, and it was not packed, we were able to sit right down. once we got up to order, we were informed that all burgers had to be cooked medium or higher (major drawbackto all of us, especially my one of my friends, who only enjoys burgers rare. he wanted to leave and go to bird's right then (the actual best burger joint in town). i talked him down, and we decided to go ahead and order. i got a "straight up" i believe it was called., however, it should have been called "straight down", because that's what happened to my dining experience when i got my food. the bun was good, large. the burger....took up 2/3 of the bun at best, was overcooked (medium or better......), and under seasoned. at the very best, it was "just ok".

this leads me to the hands down worst side i've ever had the displeasure of paying for, and then consuming...the onion rings. they were burnt looking, and tasted of nothing but frying oil. if that weren't enough, the order was maybe 8 or 10 small, flimsy rings. i also got a small soda..i don't know if there are actual sizes, i only know that my soda was in a 20ish oz cup. so what was the price of this disappointing, and depressing meal? just under $17. not only will i never be going back, i'll also denigrate them to everyone who asks. one more thing...anyone who claims to be a foodie, and says they loved this place..you're not a foodie. as i said, i went there with 2 chefs from the tastiest place in town...they all hated it. if you liked this place, you're wrong. there's no difference of opinions to be had...you're just mistaken. in closing, allow em to say this. if you're in tallahassee, and looking for a dynamite burger, you need only go to bird's. twice the meat (cooked how u want it, and is seasoned appropriately for almost half the price.) skip the hype, go to bird's.

wow! what a wobble experience!!!. well, let's start off with the recent reviews i've heard before trying vertigo myself. a co-worker went to vertigo for lunch this week and camebackto the office with a to go order. when she told me how much she paid... i was like "that is ridiculous, and i'm never going there." she got a "straight up" burger and fries for $10. omg! she told me that it wasn't worth the money. the chat we had in the office about vertigo was that we were not going to vertigo. my boss told us that vertigo is owned by the same people that own cypress and that it is "supposed" to be a gourmet burger shop. by the way, the comments about cypress wasn't good either.

then today, i told my boss at another job about vertigo. he said that he was going to try it for lunch. he also got the straight up burger and fries which was $10. he also stated that the "straight up" burger and fries was not worth the money, and that the burger was okay-good, and that he didn't care for the fries. but, he did say that the other burgers probably would have been better. he actually took a picture of the menu and read off some of the burger choices and what was on the burgers.

so after our talk, i decided to switch my plans from steak-n-shake to vertigo. my fiance' was already waiting at steak-n-shake for about twenty minutes for me to get off of work. so i headed over to vertigo, and he had to meet me there from capital circle sw. when i got there, there was a lot of people there eating, hanging out, and looking at the menu. i grabbed a menu, went outside, and set in a chair. i read the entire menu to my mom over the phone. my fiance arrived 5 minutes before they closed.

i ordered a vertigo burger which has beef burger, applewood bacon, sharp cheddar cheese, jalapeno peppers, and vertigo sauce. i had everything except jalapeno peppers and i added lettuce and tomatoes. also, i had a half & half side of sweet potato fries & onion rings. the sweet potato fries come with a herb and bacon mayo, which is quite delish. my fiance selected the triple throw down, which has beef burger, caramelized onions, applewood bacon, and horseradish sauce; he sub horseradish sauce for the herb and bacon mayo. we also got two sweet teas. the food came out quick!!! the server bought it to our table. the burgers were nice, juicy, hot, and big plus overfilling. the onion rings were just enough for me, which was great because my fiance doesn't like them. the sweet potato fries were enough that we could share. we ate a big bite of each other's burger and said that they were both great. my fiance loved his burger, and that the burger was great not to have any cheese. he thought that the fries was just fries, but he did like the herb and bacon mayo sauce on the side. he dipped his burger into the sauce. lol. the owner constantly asked if we wanted a drink refill, and we got one refill. everything was awesome.

the meal cost $26.22, which i thought was worth it; and boyyyy oh boyy was i stuffed! i did the "wobble" out of the door, i mean the overstuffed "wobble!" as we "wobble de wobble" to the cars, we came to the conclusion that we loved vertigo and we would return again since we eat out every weekend.

i would say, that the burgers are pricey but well worth it, and the customer service is great, so stop by and make your opinion count. im glad we went. vertigo definitely beat a night of steak-n-shake.

not what i expected-. went on 8/16 at 1:15pm and it went like this -- i'd like a triple throw down- reply - "we're out of the cheese - it's really popular" - ok... "how bout a tremor" - reply - "we're out of the cheese for that too- it's really popular as well" -- really? if it's so popular, keep more cheese on hand! third- option- the round here- great they have that cheese. also got a half fries/half rings.

get the food rather quickly. the fries and rings were not hot. oh well. not going to reorder. burger was ok, nothing special. they forgot the caramelized onions - or there was so little, it was not noticeably tasted. bun was good but was much larger than the meat patty. over all, not sure i'll bebackfor a $9 burger that is sub-par. go to teds of birds oyster shack for a better burger. not what i expected from the cypress owners.
