urban sushi & grill

we drove to this location with great expectation, but were greeted with the lousiest service right from the beginning. upon entering therestaurantwe were seated right beside the door, which would make a very loud banging noise when it closed. there were many tables available but we were put in the corner. we then asked to move tables because it was so disturbing. the waitress didn’t come back to our table until a good 20 minutes later to even offer us anything. based on the reviews of this place, we thought we were in for a treat. turns out that the complaints about the service are very spot on. our waitress was tending to everyone in therestaurantincluding answering the phone. she did not have time to come to our table even though there were only 4 occupied tables. we had to wave her over for more water and after that she never checked on us. the food was good, but the rolls were so big that they would often fall apart before you could even pick them up. all in all, the food was decent, but the service really put a damper on our outing.

urban sushi is an excellent sushi place that's worth the drive out to white city if you live in regina. i come here often and the owner is extremely nice and welcoming. i've always had good service and the sushi is fresh and tasty. i recommend the combo c for two people as it includes a variety of maki rolls. therestaurantis clean and the quality of the food is consistent. if you haven't been here yet, definitely give it a try as the menu has a variety of combos and individual dishes to choose from.

well worth the drive. easily tied for the best sushi in/around regina with enso on quance. there is no 'wrong choice' on the menu, which can make it difficult to pare your order down to two or three rolls! therestauranthas a nice atmosphere - polite and friendly staff, very clean and i love the raised zabuton area (with space underneath for your legs so they don't cramp up). also love that it is open on sundays.

make the drive out, you'll be happy you did!

worth the drive!. this is hands-down the most delicious sushi i have ever eaten! the nori was tender and the meat and vegetables were fresh and flavourful. i was really impressed with the presentation, too. this food is not just a tasty treat, it is art. the prices are very reasonable for such excellent food. i cannot recommend thisrestaurantstrongly enough!

i discovered thisrestaurantjust a few weeks ago and i have already been there quite a few times. i believe they opened quite recently, so i hope they would maintain the same quality in the years to come.

best sushi in regina... by far!. i want to be realistic about the sushi restaurants in regina and area. each one seems to be focused on the all-you-can eat style of sushi (lots of rice and lack of quality ingredients). the urban sushi & grill was a very nice change from the low end sushi around regina. this is no "all you can eat", but the portion sizes certainly leave you stuffed after the fact. therestaurantis very tastefully done, the hostess was very polite and dressed up.

two people ate for $40, we had a full size lunch for the next day to pack up as well. we ordered one of their combos (near the back of their menu). it included a variety of rolls, sashimi, tempura, and we added the alaska roll (smoked salmon).

the prices are great, the food was very fresh, the portions were larger than what we're used to, and their rolls were packed full of the good stuff. regina (white city) officially has a sushi place that rivals other high end sushi restaurants throughout canada. thanks, we'll be back many many times, clearly #1 in saskatchewan! as for the "too far to drive" comment, you're kidding right?

well worth the drive!. my boyfriend and i ventured out to emerald park on sunday afternoon after reading about it on this site. i was surprized that we were the only people in therestaurantat 6 pm, considering the quality of the meal we had. the serving staff were friendly and attentive without being clingy. the food was fresh, the flavours bright, the quantity satisfying. i strongly recommend their jungle roll (california roll topped with greens and beef teriyaki - so good we ordered a second!) and their philadelphia roll. the shrimp and yam tempura was lightly battered with no oily residue or taste. our bill with tip came to $50 and was money well spent. we will be back!
