the urban kitchen situated in the dusit thani hotel is simply fabulous.

this was one of the best dining experiences i've had in a long time.

our group of 10 were greeted at the entrance and ushered to our table. we were well looked after, and checked on regularly by the supervisors.

the service was super efficient, friendly and courteous.

the buffet itself was large and varied and caters to quite a few tastes. they have an extensive salad selection along-with a limited but very satisfying live sushi station.

there is an excellent cold seafood bar serving huge mussels, baby octopi, prawns and razor clams.

there is also a large asian selection with staples like pad thai, lemongrass chicken and hunan beef. there is also a roast section serving wagyu beef, lamb , chicken and roast duck!!

there are live stations servingthaidishes, pasta and desserts. there was also a section serving a selection of customary indian and arabic dishes.

for desserts there is a huge selection of cakes, cheeses and fresh fruits to satisfy any palate.

would i go back? many many times. two thumbs up.

worth many repeat visits.

a fantastic option for friday brunch. it’s called “wok with me” and very recently it was relaunched. if you are a seafood lover, then this is paradise! the amount of options they have. from oysters, mussels, lobster to prawns, scallops and squid. you will find everything here. they are fresh and ready to dig in. for the ones who aren’t a big fan of seafood, don’t you worry, there are so many other options like rotisserie meat, pasta counter, thaicounter, sushi counter, indian chaat counter. the options are endless. have you ever heard of a caviar bar? well they have that too! i highly recommend their buffet on friday’s!! i met their head pasty chef and sous chef and they were the nicest and happiest people i’ve met. they were passionate about their work and the creative desserts they made were fabulous. so many colors, so many flavors. they have one dessert from all over the world. as a sweet tooth, i had to capture some dishes in my photos! see below.

we were invited to enjoy their iftar in dusit style! dusit thani abu dhabi, the iconicthaihotel in the city, is really famous for organizing such themes events evolving from the social, educational, seasonal, commercial to traditional festival events like street food exhibitions from thailand where everyone gets involved.

two months ago we’d never set foot inside abu dhabi’s the dusit thani hotel but following a pleasing meal at benjarong. we couldn’t wait to return and check out their friday brunch offering. the brunch at thethaiinspired dusit thani is held at urban kitchen, the hotels all day dining restaurant, situated just off of the impressive lobby.

superb food! perfect variety! 😋😋😋👍👍👍

we've tried here for dinner buffet. the food variety is amazing!
and the staff are nice and so accommodating.
im not really a fan of buffet, but here we are eating our hearts out!
i've tasted some of the dishes and i liked the prawns the most since shrimp/prawn are my favorite! :d the texture is awesome, so soft, it taste so good too.
i also tried their seafood mixed rice, nothing special, not so tasteful.
next was the duck, its roasted. and yes, it is so yummy! perfectly cooked inside and out.
the padthaiis not so special, just like the normal padthaifrom otherthairesto.
sushi/maki taste nice. you know it's freshly rolled :d
and there are so many food to choose from, but my happytummy is so much full.
next time i'll visit, definetly eating more! :d

enjoyed the ambience too!

i have visited urban kitchen for a saturday lunch as well as a tuesday dinner buffet. i enjoyed both visits but would recommend the tuesday buffet if you like asian food. the restaurant is really pleasant with with a nice buffet set-up. what i like about urban kitchen is that the buffet is big but not huge, making it possible to try a bit of almost everything. i especially love the desserts here. the food is good, particularly thethaicuisine. service is good. interiors are nice as well.

sushi was like hard rubber and one of the worst i had in abu dhabi. i thought the sushi chef was from infamous go to king. chinese fried chicken was so hard and not chew-able. tender loin was not tender at all.  thai pumplin soup did not have any pumpkin but just milk water. eventhaipapaya salad and fried flat noodle did not have decentthaiflavor at all. (maybe trying to avoid using nyokmum fish sauce to apply to arabic and western taste, but that is a wrong approach. it does not taste good.) chocolate cake was crumbly and terrible. thethairestaurant is really wonderful at dusit thani, but not the buffet at urban kitchen. very disappointed daughter told me, " you have to pay me to go to that restaurant again."

we went to urban kitchen on saturday for the buffet lunch. on reaching the restaurant we were promptly led to our table.the buffet has a fairly large spread with a salad section, a mains section, a desserts section, a live pasta station and a section for starters. the salads section had a variety of arabic and continental staples along with sushi. there were also a variety of cold cuts. however this is standard fare in any good international buffet. in the starters there were mushroom pizza, roast chicken, batter fried vegetables and arabic mezze. the mains had a seafood kabsa, lamb biryani, veg curry, chicken harees andthaicashew chicken among other things. surprisingly in the breads though they did mention that there was naan and roti i was disappointed to see heated frozen parathas being served in the place of both these things. desserts had a huge variety as well with umm ali, cheese cakes, fresh fruits, chocolate brownies and a chocolate fountain. so while you can just get full by tasting a morsel of everything in this buffet, i did not find one single dish which i can describe in superlative terms. the taste of everything was just okay. i found flavors lacking. i was also expecting some more asian representation on the menu but sadly this was not the case. in the end i felt i would have been happier with an a la carte lunch with a few of my favorite dishes instead of the lavish spread we had just sampled.
