always keen to try a delicious theme dining experience, indian accent sounded intriguing – and knowing its close proximity to the award-winning indianrestaurantnamak by kunal kapur – of which we could not sing praises enough – we hoped that at least some of the culinary genius would rub off, or, indeed, inspire indian accent.

this is a place that i've always wanted to visit and i finally got to try them one thursday evening (using a groupon voucher). the ambience is the first thing that will blow you away as you enter the lobby into one of the highest atriums in the world. therestaurantis located to the right of the lobby and is nestled between two of their more famous restaurants. surprisingly enough though therestaurantwas quite empty, with only 4 to 5 tables being occupied at any given point in time.

the first thing you're going to enjoy here is the service. we were looked after by ibrahim, ada and so many others that we really didn't have to wait on or want anything for long. the chefs did an amazing job with the food, even though they were so busy prepping for the extraordinary brunch for friday, and were quick to assist us whenever we needed them. the quality of the food was excellent. i especially enjoyed the roast lamb, which was cooked to melt in the mouth perfection. if main courses are not your thing, then you have a huge dessert station to explore. the desserts were perfect, felt so fresh and natural, with nothing being overly sweet. the best part is the food is not being immediately replenished the whole time and only refilled on demand, thereby reducing food wastage.

overall, we had an absolutely amazing experience, and one that we can highly recommend. however, the one thing everyone recommended is the friday brunch, so i guess that's what everyone should be trying, especially given the half price promotion they've going on.

highly recommended!!

i went for the iftar buffet at urban kitchen tonight.
the buffet was beautifully set up, with a great variety of dishes displayed. i started off with the salads (traditional arabic greens) and soup. i took a plate of the arabian side snacks as well.
i loved the potato &a garlic soup with croutons it was my favorite.
main course was a mix of arabic-asian-indian cuisine which i thought was great as it catered to everyone's palette nicely, vegetarians and non- vegetarians.
there was a section dedicated to grills. there was chicken, lamb, beef and lamb chops along with grilled hamour for those seafood lovers.
the ambiance of therestaurantwas middle eastern. the decor was dim lit with arabian music playing in the background, we were served kahwa at the end of our meal which is traditional middle earthen green tea.
i enjoyed my time at urban kitchen, for the money i spent i thought it was a stealer deal. the food served was tasty and options were unlimited. i loved it!

mr brunch and i love taking trips to the capital, we call them “brunch-cations.” this particular hotel, the dusit thani in abu dhaboi has been on our to-do-list for the longest time due to our well known predilection for anything thai. the friday brunch is held in urban kitchen, usually an international all day diningrestaurantbut on friday’s, it turns into the aptly named ‘wok with me’ asian brunch…we could not wait!

we decided to try out the buffet in urban kitchen at dusit thani - abu dhabi on a thursday. thursday, only because it was going to be a seafood night, and the mr. and i never had a chance to try out a seafood buffet. on the day of the buffet we received a call from a staff at therestauranttelling us that the seafood buffet had changed to international buffet as they had to cater to a group of 200 people. we were totally disappointed. however, the lady told us that those of us who had booked in for a seafood buffet would get seafood platters served on our table. that didn't sound too bad...as long as we got lobsters, prawns, scallops and everything seafood. so, we decided to try out the buffet anyway.

i have visited urban kitchen for a saturday lunch as well as a tuesday dinner buffet. i enjoyed both visits but would recommend the tuesday buffet if you like asian food. therestaurantis really pleasant with with a nice buffet set-up. what i like about urban kitchen is that the buffet is big but not huge, making it possible to try a bit of almost everything. i especially love the desserts here. the food is good, particularly the thai cuisine. service is good. interiors are nice as well.

sushi was like hard rubber and one of the worst i had in abu dhabi. i thought the sushi chef was from infamous go to king. chinese fried chicken was so hard and not chew-able. tender loin was not tender at all.  thai pumplin soup did not have any pumpkin but just milk water. even thai papaya salad and fried flat noodle did not have decent thai flavor at all. (maybe trying to avoid using nyokmum fish sauce to apply to arabic and western taste, but that is a wrong approach. it does not taste good.) chocolate cake was crumbly and terrible. the thairestaurantis really wonderful at dusit thani, but not the buffet at urban kitchen. very disappointed daughter told me, " you have to pay me to go to thatrestaurantagain."

we went to urban kitchen on saturday for the buffet lunch. on reaching therestaurantwe were promptly led to our table.the buffet has a fairly large spread with a salad section, a mains section, a desserts section, a live pasta station and a section for starters. the salads section had a variety of arabic and continental staples along with sushi. there were also a variety of cold cuts. however this is standard fare in any good international buffet. in the starters there were mushroom pizza, roast chicken, batter fried vegetables and arabic mezze. the mains had a seafood kabsa, lamb biryani, veg curry, chicken harees and thai cashew chicken among other things. surprisingly in the breads though they did mention that there was naan and roti i was disappointed to see heated frozen parathas being served in the place of both these things. desserts had a huge variety as well with umm ali, cheese cakes, fresh fruits, chocolate brownies and a chocolate fountain. so while you can just get full by tasting a morsel of everything in this buffet, i did not find one single dish which i can describe in superlative terms. the taste of everything was just okay. i found flavors lacking. i was also expecting some more asian representation on the menu but sadly this was not the case. in the end i felt i would have been happier with an a la carte lunch with a few of my favorite dishes instead of the lavish spread we had just sampled.
