we were in the mood for dim sum... around dinner time on saturday. we went to chinatown and found u & me. it was open and they had a whole dim sum menu.

we got the usual, some shao mai, har gow, bbq pork buns, garlic spareribs, squid in special sauce, bbq pork in rice wrapper and, of course, sticky rice.

the pork in rice wrappers was okay - wrapper was kinda thick and chalky, but the shao mai (my favorite) were excellent, and the sticky rice was pretty good (my so's favorite).

the bill came to $55 and change, which i thought was a bit steep for how much food we got but we were full so we didn't mind.

overall, i think we'll be back, but only if it's not normal dim sum time. we'd still rather go to one of the trolley-served places like regency palace or silver dragon.

we tried u and me because we heard it was the best dim sum place in calgary. and although the food was nice, it wasn't the best i'd ever had. hands down the best dim sum place in calgary is silver dragon.

this was one the worst restaurants i've ever been to. the service was so bad, all the workers there were so impolite. we asked for tea and he came back and said "here" so rudely and then he spilled the tea on the table too. one guy in the corner was complaining how he wants salt and he asked like 5 times and he still never got it. every time i asked a question, they would always be so rude in giving the answer. and what's worst was the end when we went to pay, they took my friends money and said that the rest was for tip. he payed around 30 dollars and his meal was about 20 and they took his 10 for tip. it was the worst restaurants ever. but the chicken was pretty good. yummmmyyy

who is the owner for this place? staff would not give me the name or phone number.. paid more to get extra meat in the noodles, did not get it. came back and they reused my noodle and added a bit more meat. lmao, what a joke. to cheap to make a new dish?

apparently manager is never there, lol. no wonder service is terrible.

extra meat was undercooked, i had to give it to my dog. hope he will be ok.

it was ok. prices are a little steep and parking is expensive during the week. i came here a few times, if i need dim sum i'd only come on sundays when it's free street parking. service was average, selection is decent. they didn't have the traditional push carts so you have to order everything by the menu (at least it's in english).

excellent restaurant in downtown core. i was very pleased with the quality of food. the deep fried ship rolls are amazing and cooked perfectly. i enjoyed everything i ordered and was surprised by the low price considering it's in the downtown core. (i ate a horrible steak at the saltlik for lunch yesterday cost me $50.00 and was still hungrey..think i'll go to u & me for lunch today, leave full and satisfied!!)

my brother in-law and his gf wanted to go to u & me for dim sum, he’s from out of town and they go here every time they come. now i’ve only ever been here at 3am after consuming enough booze to inebriate a horse; so i figured, why not? let’s do it.

i love dim sum and have the city cased, had u & me slipped through the cracks? yes, and for good reason. this place sucks. so much so it changed the opinion of my brother in-law, i am disappointed in his taste for food. there is infinitely better dim sum in calgary, let me save you a bad meal and a few hours of agony on the toilet.

u & me is held together with duct tape... literally, look around when you get there. it obviously caters to the late night crowds and rightly so, if you stumbled it at 3am almost anywhere that served deep fried dumplings would appear as the promise land. at 11am on a friday, the bar lights come on and you realize you made a mistake.

the food was terrible, i had something way too hard in my shiu mai that left me guessing and swallowing, cause that’s fun. their turnip cake in xo sauce was great but that’s real hard to mess up. the rest of it, frankly, i can’t even remember what it was that we ordered. it sucked.

if you’re rolling in past 9pm enjoy, i would too! if you’re going here for dim sum before then, go anywhere else!

i’m planning a trip to vegas and i wanted advice from ms. biz. she knows her restaurants and she travels to vegas six times a year. she also dines at some of the best restaurants in the world. i was hoping for her toned-down list, as i’m no baller. for this post, let’s listen to “9 to 5” by dolly parton.

i used to come here for late night dinners as they're open until 4am. i would order the chicken fried rice, salt and pepper squid, and dim sum. the food here comes really fast late at night within seconds but the food here isn't too great. chicken fried rice (heavily salted) and the salt and pepper squid is very greasy. their dim sum is okay but during the late nights you're expected to pay around $7 per dish. my rating here is very low as some of the staff here demand a tip and will sometimes automatically take it off your bill. probably would not recommend but their mornings might be a different story.

we like westernized chinese food & there is plenty available here! lots of items to chose from on the menu & portions are very large. good food but nothing we've tried sets it apart from other restaurants we've tried that serve westernized chinese food. it's the service that sets it apart! we've never been & not seen a high volume of customers continuously being served here. given how busy it is the food comes out surprisingly fast! staff are consistently attentive, efficient & polite.

this place is open for 20 hours a day! i hear they do great drunk food, but i'm rarely near downtown at night, so i wouldn't know! what i do know is that their dim sum is super delicious. yummy enough for me to make the drive from fish creek about once a month. parking is easy to find and not costly (i typically go on sundays). this place is always packed, which means you need to lower your expectations when it comes to service, even with what it seems like 5-7 servers running around at all times! i will keep coming back for the food!

chinese food is my comfort food. and shomai reminds me of the days when i was in my hometown dating. ha. so basically, the shomai i was eating back home was yummy but not as full as this one, in u&me restaurant. and mind you, the shrimp inside was overwhelming. i thought i ate it all but hey, my every bite the shrimps says hello. the wanton soup was bland for me, but that's fine just add s&p. i ordered shanghai fried noodles and i was able to take home half of it since one serving is always good to share. if you are craving for more dumplings, they hay it here, the usual price is about $6+ for dumplings. jasmine tea was complimentary. the service was good too. so probably i will come back for their dumplings.
