still a good choice for dinner and late night food.... there aren't many restaurant that open 20 hours a day/7 days a week and offers late night dim sum. the food was great and reasonably priced. we were surprised with the speedy service we received from friendly staff. i will certainly go back for more late night dim sum with my buddies.

great for late food. this is the best place for late night food, don't expect great service, but the food is good and if your willing to wait, they will make the food fresh when you order off the main menu. this is the only place close to all the clubs and casinos that is still open after they close. the dim sum is very expensive but is made fresh to order at night.

the best time to come is after 11 am, when more items on the menu are available, including my favourite, #81, xo sauce fried turnip cake. b. and i discovered this dish by accident, but it became a fast favourite – instead of the usual flat squares of pan-fried turnip cake, the savoury cake is cut into small triangles before being tossed in xo sauce, a strongly flavoured condiment made of dried scallop, shrimp and chillies, and virtually deep-fried.

******dim sum is ridiculous expensive... $8 for tiny sticky rice**** service is nonexistent... was talking to hostess owner and she walked away from me leaving her underling to assist me. all the cooks and servers ate at tge same time as were sitting there trying to get some service. avoid panfried turnip cake and cha sui cheung fun.... maybe just avoid..fake specials.********** thought we would try dinner at u and me. i always wondered how a resturant is open 20 hours a day every day. we were super surprized that we got the food quite quickly. we had garlic fried chicken. it was fresh and the first time it came with sauce which we had told them to put on the side. it came back in 10 minutes without sauce and just as fresh and juicy. we had the beef and gai lan which was also good and the special dish lobster on corn and ginger rice. this took much longer but it was very good. we had the soup and the waterchestnut soup which was nice. the service was good for chinese resturant. i would definitely return to this place for dinner.

sneaky. i went to this place just because someone told me that before 11 it's 10% off. we get there before 11 and we order. we did check our bill just because of the previous review. turns out the items with the black dot don't get discounted no matter what.

we had the standard hai gow , sui mai, chai sui cheung fun, sticky rice. i would say the dim sum is average and the bill wasn't any smaller. the base price is higher. meh!

u and me y?. this was pretty much our favorite dim sum until today.

pretty much if you walk into a dim sum place at high noon where there's empty tables you should consider backing out. instead of trusting our empty gut we proceeded to sit down and order our dim sum items. on the menu, were 10 new items. we decided to try 8 jewel sticky rice and taro cake with shrimp. bad bad bad choice.

in general, the hai gow and sui mai were less than mediocre but i have to focus on the 2 items that were new.

the 8 jewel sticky rice was extremely greasy and has no sticky rice when i pointed this out to the waitres she said well it has chicken wtf?? so just to be clear i speak her in catonese and told her there was not one kernel of sticky rice. she said ok well we can have something else. we didn't have time so she took part of the dish price off.

the second was taro root cake with shrimp which was nothing more than a greasy puff tart with a tiny tiny tiny amount of taro, huge globs of mayo, fruit cocktail and shrimp. it was the worst tasting item i've had a dim sum.

this experience was so bad, i had to make a trip to the bathroom right after. not only was the food bad but the prices were super high. no wonder the resturant was at half capacity. this was a resturant that would have customers lined all the way down the stairs. we all felt gross after the meal. we won't be trying this again.

-----15 jun,

the food here is quite yummy and fresh. they steam it after you order it. unfortunately, it's the ordering that is a little difficult. what's the difference between shrimp dumpling and crystal shrimp dumpling? the sticky rice is little small for the price. you only get 2 pieces instead of 3 but on the plus side each lotus leaf wrap has a piece of shitake mushroom and a piece of lap churn chinese sauage. that's always a plus!

never had midnight dim sum but i would definitely be open to trying it here.

been a while since .... it has been a long time since i've returned to u & me (june floods didn't help).

so has much changed since the last time here ? find out.

a group of us headed on down to u & me for dim sum sunday morning. restaurant was bustling, but long gone are the days where people would be lined up down the stairwell (the one facing centre st.) it also helped that we all went down there a little after 10 am, ensuring a table large enough for all of us.

one thing i don't like about u & me is the layout, it does get narrow and with hot food zipping everywhere i'm surprised no one has gotten hot food on their laps.

the food itself was good, the har gow was hot and fresh with plump juicy shrimp. chicken feet was literally fall off the bone, the sauce was greasy though. other items we ordered include sui mah, beef tripe, lo bok gow, and bbq pork buns to name a few. all arrived fresh, hot, and delicious.

as for service ? to me, when it comes to dim sum, as long as they remove the empty steamers, refill the tea, and bring us the food when it is ready, it is all good and that is exactly what was performed. could they have used a smile ? for sure, but we all had a good time enjoying the tasty dim sum treats.

i wouldn't hesitate to come back again.

good food, mediocre service. went there for dim sum recently, and overall the food quality wasn't bad, it was pretty good. had the shu mai, shrimp/scallop dumplings, chicken and duck feet, beef entrails (intestine, lung, stomach), lo bok gow, and mango pudding.

it was pretty tasty, i found the food not as salty as other places which is a good thing. the food arrived at the table steaming hot, even though we did wait a bit (it was sunday around 11 am, so it was busy). tea was only lukewarm though.

service however was lacking. a member at our table had to request 2 glasses of cold water twice before it arrived.

the food is ok, but the service?? really bad!!! never offer a water & the bill? "be aware" they add 5% for the tip not letting the customer know then they'll demand for another 10% minimum but they are still not happy for the 15% tip. never! never come back again!!!

no debit under $30!!. so we went there around 11 pm.it was our first time there and we weren`t really hungry.we ordered dumplings and coconut cream cake.duplings were soooo greasy and the cake was not even cake.in fact it didnt have a taste at all. the bill came out $19. we wanted to pay on debit but then the lady yelled at us and said we dont accept debit under $30. she asked us if we dont have any cash.when we said no she even got more mad.then we said it was our first time there and we didnt know it,oh suddenly she became so friendly and polite!she started acting strangely as if she was not the one who were shouting us 10 seconds ago.she agreed to charge us on debit and said come back and try our night specials next time..sure we wont be back if we are yelled in a place just because we didnt know their rules!plus why dont they accept debit for under $30.it just doesnt make sense.

not as bad as reviews would make you think. i'm honestly surprised by how negative some of the reviews for u & me are. i only ever eat dim sum here, which i can say is pretty good and better than some other places in calgary, and the prices are decent as well. some of the bigger places that offer cart service seem to have a limited selection unless you explicitly ask someone for it, so u & me is good if you know what you want. come in, they bring you tea, you mark off what you want on the sheet, hand it to them, and wait. i've had times where i didn't receive something i ordered, and they just crossed it out. no big deal. and no, they're not exactly known for their warm and intimate service style, but i have never had anyone there demand a bigger tip - but maybe that's because i always leave 15%? like i said, i can't really comment on their other menu, but for dim sum, i'll almost always choose u&me. and for the record - i don't speak chinese, and i've never been "discriminated" against whether i've gone in with white friends or asian friends (who, in turn, often do not speak chinese).
