actually the place is calledtwentytap. but thirty-eight is the number of craft beers they offer on draught.twentytap does sound better than the alternative. they are in sobro; on n. college;across the street from the former atlas market location. they’ve been open for a couple of years but this is our first lunch. we have been in a few times for beer. and tried some fried cheese curds ( good) and another friend and i stopped in one evening and had some brews and the charcuterie platter ( not so good). the menu is definitely not your typical pub & grub. since our new ” format ” worked out so well ( for me ) we are doing it again. however pat wants to write it during lunch. and since i forgot my notebook he wrote it on a napkin. deluxe grilled cheese- mushroom, tomato, spinach, beer mustard (sub pesto for beer mustard)  $8 (veg oh for the record it was determined; after writing; the mushrooms were not canned. they were steamed. i needed some meat. and what carnivore could pass up smo

i thoroughly enjoyed my lunch attwentytap which took place right before their devastating fire. the braised beef grilled cheese sandwich was outstanding, as was the pimento mac & cheese appetizer that i couldn't pass up. the beer selection was very good and features not only some oftwentybelow's nano-brewery beers, but local and regional beers that are brewed by friends of owner kevin matalucci. the atmosphere was laid back and casual. this was a place that i thought i could go to on a regular basis if i lived in indianapolis. good beer and good food in a great atmosphere is a winning combination fortwentytap.  glad to see that they're back open.

we have visitedtwentytap twice. my husband loved the fries as well as the mac and cheese plus his tex burger. i on the other hand, had the tuscan and felt the goat cheese wasn't the best combination. we avidly go to bru burger downtown, so we wanted to try another restaurant closer to home. i'm glad we came back a second time. service was great on both occasions, even with a busy friday we were seated quickly. our server was great. i am in love with the cheese curds and the curry ketchup needs to be on a burger. please put the curry ketchup on its own throne! the tex burger is my go to burger from now on! everything was delicious.

thank you,twentytap, for all of the delicious beer you offer! the beer is the perfect complement to your french breakfast burger, which i wolfed down without shame. this is a great place to have in broad ripple -- check it out if you haven't!

overall i thinktwentytap is overrated. four of us waited over an hour for a table last night and when we actually sat down for dinner it was anything spectacular. the cheese curds and beer selection were good but i doubt we'll be back.

great beer but.... my wife and i ventured out totwentytap one saturday afternoon. having drove past it many times before, and having heard many good things about the bar via friends, and online reviews.

the beer selection was great! my wife and i both love craft beer, and the local selection is second to none. the food was wonderful, we had the pretzels and added the beer cheese, and split a turkey burger. both of which are very good, and worth a try, although i will say the fries (which are more than likely vegan fried) are tasteless unless you are a vegan.

what turned my wife and i away from coming back was the service. we started out with a great brunette female bartender (unfortunately i did not get her name) that knew her beer, and was very pleasant and insightful on the menu. she even recommended the food to us. then there was a shift change, and that was where it all went south. a young redhead female took over behind bar. she was rude, and pretty much ignored my wife and i along with another couple sitting next to us. we felt as if we were not the crowd she wanted at her bar, because a two couples came in that looked like "hipsters", and she was attentive to both of those couples. my wife and i felt that we needed tattoos, piercings, and skinny jeans in order to get service from this young lady. young lady also snatched away want looked to be empty glasses, and forcefully put them into the bar sink. we also witnessed 2 employees drinking beers while working.

so if your not a 21-something college student or recent grad don't bother.

indy's craft beer destination.... ...and their food is incredible, too.

you'll be hard-pressed to find a better selection of all sorts of craft beer in indianapolis. they rotate their 38 taps regularly, and they have something for all tastes. i normally like higher abv beers so it's hard for me to find a good selection of the strong stuff...buttwentytap always has something that peaks my interest.

their service is almost always very friendly and helpful, even at times when they get slammed-busy (which is often). the small size of the place really makes you feel like a sardine stuffed into a tin at times, but it's a small price to pay to experience the absolute best craft beer bar in the city. if there's a better one i'd like to see it.

the food is reasonably priced for the quality you get, too. try the wake-up burger.

simply great.. i probably go totwentytap at least once a week (and not just because i live a few houses away!). they have a huge selection of great beer that changes constantly and equally great food. i've had just about everything on the menu and never been disappointed. the cheese curds are a must and their fries are delicious. my favorite sandwich is probably the mushroom reuben--and i'm not even vegetarian!

the servers are great and can definitely help you choose a beer. on a rare occasion i've gotten a server that wasn't super friendly/attentive but this is definitely not the norm as the majority of the people who work there are very nice and know their stuff. it's true they get quite busy during popular times particularly on a friday or saturday night--but that's just what happens when a place is good! if you don't want to risk a long wait or being seated next to other people (yes--their tables are pretty tight) then i'd suggest going on an off-time.

didn't have dinner, but . . .. did stop in for a couple of beers. thus, i can't really speak as to the menu and food/service quality, but can say that they have a very nice selection of beers (actually more thantwentyon tap).

i can say they were busy enough that my guess is that they have some good food and will probably stop in sometime in the future to try out the food.

that's all, short & sweet.

imagine tiny pieces of mozzarella cheese, breaded in a beer batter. these reminded me of something you would get at the state fair, specifically because of the breading. each bite was crispy and oozing with cheese. i honestly have been dreaming about these heavenly morself of cheese.twentytap offers a few selections of aiolis for dipping. we went with horseradish, chipotle, and roasted garlic. my favorite was the chipotle which was smokey and had a litt
