came here for dinner tonight with somewhat high expectations based on reading reviews here. unfortunately thefooddid not deliver. our waitress told us that they specialize in "comfort food" but i found that to be quite misleading given the portions were extremely small and lacking in depth and flavor. i was far from being full or "comforted". i would have .
appreciated a suggestion to order more than just 1 entree per person. i had the seafood potage ($22) and it was disappointingly small and lacked flavor and complexity. the size was extremely small for an entree with just a few pieces of fish, mussels, and clams. my hubby ordered the cornish hen confit ($24) and while it had good flavor it was extremely small. there was a half ice cream size amt of grains and only half a hen. cornish hen is super small--why only half of it for an entree?! perhaps we just ordered all the wrong dishes. our friends had some other dishes that looked a lot better- specifically the beef, bacon wrapped egg, and pork crisp

wow, came here for my boyfriends birthday lunch and they surely did not disappoint! everything from the interior to thefoodand even the service was amazing. we ordered the mussels and clams, crispy bacon egg, seafood stew, and another dish (i don't remember the name... ) served in a mini cast iron skillet consisting of tomatoes and chicken. everything was perfectly seasoned and delicious, the only dish i didnt care for much though was the dish in the skillet as it was a bit sour for me.. i did however love the mussels/clams and egg! the service also exceeded expectations as our waitress was so welcoming and easy to talk to. i would definitely come back, but maybe to try their dinner menu!

i went to the restaurant with a friend this sunday to have brunch. i ordered their crispy chicken & waffles (and my friend their beluga lentils & eggs). based on theirfoodalone (details below) this restaurant would have been a solid 4. i did have an issue with their service however. now, the staff members are quite friendly and reasonably attentive. however, thefoodtook a very long time to arrive. we waited easily over 30 minutes (probably closer to 40). in fact, we actually flagged down a waitress because we were afraid that they might have somehow forgotten our order. i don't know if this is typical for the restaurant or if we just happened to catch them on a bad day, but the long wait did leave a bit of a bad taste in our mouths (no pun intended), and i am a bit hesitant about returning again.

crispy chicken & waffles ($17):
4/5
this is a very generous portion, consisting of two large pices of fried chicken breast and two small waffles, and was accompanied by sides of dijon mournaise, spicey ketchup, and syrup. the chicken was great. even though it was white meat (which, of course, tends to be dry), it was still quite tender and moist. it was well seasoned and flavourful, and coated in a nice crispy batter. i actually prefer this rendition over that of chewies, which i had found to be a tad too bland. the waffles were a bit flat and thin, but still tasty: soft, buttery and mildly sweet. i really liked the variety of condiments that they provided, all of which were tasty (although my favourite is still the syrup). this is probably the best rendition of chicken & waffles that i've had so far.

excellentfoodand quick service. we started with the mussels and pork crackles-to die for. i managed to be full on another serving of mussels, but my friends ordered mains of surf and turf, crispy pork turado, and beef al forno, and finished with a shared chilled chocolate fondo.

i was there a while ago and never had a chance to do this review.  i thought thefoodthere was pretty different, but different in a good way.  i had the steak and i loooooooved it!  i have had a few steaks in my life and this was one of the best ones.  it was cooked to perfection, exactly the way i wanted it.  the bacon wrapped egg and deep fried pork belly was really good too.  i had a drink, and i don't even remember what it was, that there was so much ice and soooo watered down that i might as well ordered a glass of tap water.  although the table i had was a tad small, but the servers were quite friendly.

absolutely love thefoodhere! service is great as well. my second visit, i went with a larger group so we had to order from their set menu. we went with the mid tier menu which was $41 per person. it included 4 appetizers (served family style to share), an entree and 2 desserts (family style). also ordered their crispy egg with bacon (a tuc craft specialty). it was a lot offoodbut super scrumptious.foodwas fresh and seasoned well. have yet to try their brunch still but have heard great things and sure it won't disappoint!

i have to say that my experience there is very specific to the fact that i am picky eater and have many dietary restrictions. i went to the restaurant with 6 friends. we found that there wasn't enough choices on the menu for us to have enough variety offoodfor dinner. (we wanted to try as much as we can, so we shared everything) it probably would have been a better experience if we were there for an afternoon snack or late night snack, not dinner.

we ordered a couple of the bacon eggs (which i could not have), the bone marrow popcorn (too salty for me), parsnip fries (too oily for my liking), the mussels (which i could not have), the elk entree (which i could not have), and the seafood stew.

the seafood stew was quite small in portion, the crab cake in there was fried to the point where the cake was more like a biscuit, it was not moist at all. the ling cod was done very nicely with a crispy outer layer. the vermicelli in the green curry was watery for me with not enough taste.

ambiance and service was good. but it was a bummer that i went in hungry and came out still hungry, but didn't feel the urge to order anything else on the menu.

very poor service. above average food. overall, not worth it.

we were seated without a wait, as the restaurant was not too busy. took 10min for the waiter to take our drink order. while we were waiting, we were sprayed constantly by cleaning fluid by the server cleaning the table beside us. we eventually ordered drinks and food. drinks came 20min after ordering. i'm not sure how long americanos usually take in a not-busy restaurant, but 20min seems a little lengthy. the server did not even seem to remember, so we had to ask him again 10min into the wait. also, it was spilled on arrival, with no clean up. not even good americano.

food came 40min later. ridiculous wait. server blamed an input error, rather than taking personal responsibility. at no time did the server come to us to update us on our order or apologize for the wait. we had to ask about 25min in after seeing people who came in later than us get the samefoodorder.

food was okay. nothing special. not worth the wait. you can get the same thing anywhere with much better service.

overhyped and overrated and overpriced. took almost 50min before we gotfoodwith no update from server in that time.

warning: everything on this menu is drool worthy and comfortfoodto the max and also not for the health conscious! so throw away those scales and prepared to gain at least five pounds, you will be glad you did! . crispy bacon & egg $4. since every ig foodie that has been has eaten this staple item from the menu: crispy bacon and egg, i thought i would try to see what all the hype was about. the photo i think speaks for itself, the delicate still a bit raw egg yolk is delicately wrapped in fried up bacon with batter. the instant crunch and saltiness from the bacon tastes so good with the bit of liquid from the egg yolk. soooo good that i didn’t really want to share this!

tuc craft kitchen is an adorable little rustic cafe tucked away in historic gastown, vancouver. we had some amazing sunday brunch at tuc craft kitchen and i was delighted by how wonderful our server was. she noticed that i was not feeling really well and brought over some hot water with lemon and honey. a total sweetheart who absolutely made my day! even through my nasty cold, i could taste the fabulous flavours in the shashuksa! i loved breaking the poached egg to mix the runny yolk in with the stewed tomatoes. mmm just amazing comfortfoodthat definitely helped making my tummy feel happy!
i am most definitely going to be returning when i am feeling better for their waffles and berries as well as the eggs wrapped in crispy bacon.

went to a small christmas party here. ordered multiple appetizers. the soft boiled egg wrapped in bacon and then i think deep fried is amazing. had the beef daube as the main and it was delicious. it was incredibly filling and would be considered comfortfoodby most with the layer of cheese and potato awesomeness.

great atmosphere and decent food. thefoodhere is hit and miss. the beef cheeks were amazing served on a bed of mashed and cheese. the chicken was juicy but the fish was a bit dry for my liking. the mashed fries should be taken off the menu, totally ruined the appetite! but all in all, a great place to hang out with friends
