i went to the restaurant with a friend this sunday to have brunch. i ordered their crispy chicken & waffles (and my friend their beluga lentils & eggs). based on theirfoodalone (details below) this restaurant would have been a solid 4. i did have an issue with their service however. now, the staff members are quite friendly and reasonably attentive. however, thefoodtook a very long time to arrive. we waited easily over 30 minutes (probably closer to 40). in fact, we actually flagged down a waitress because we were afraid that they might have somehow forgotten our order. i don't know if this is typical for the restaurant or if we just happened to catch them on a bad day, but the long wait did leave a bit of a bad taste in our mouths (no pun intended), and i am a bit hesitant about returning again.
crispy chicken & waffles ($17):
4/5
this is a very generous portion, consisting of two large pices of fried chicken breast and two small waffles, and was accompanied by sides of dijon mournaise, spicey ketchup, and syrup. the chicken was great. even though it was white meat (which, of course, tends to be dry), it was still quite tender and moist. it was well seasoned and flavourful, and coated in a nice crispy batter. i actually prefer this rendition over that of chewies, which i had found to be a tad too bland. the waffles were a bit flat and thin, but still tasty: soft, buttery and mildly sweet. i really liked the variety of condiments that they provided, all of which were tasty (although my favourite is still the syrup). this is probably the best rendition of chicken & waffles that i've had so far.
