came here for dinner tonight with somewhat high expectations based on reading reviews here. unfortunately the food did not deliver. our waitress told us that they specialize in "comfort food" but i found that to be quite misleading given the portions were extremely small and lacking in depth and flavor. i was far from being full or "comforted". i would have .
appreciated a suggestion to order more than just 1 entree per person. i had the seafood potage ($22) and it was disappointingly small and lacked flavor and complexity. the size was extremely small for an entree with just a few pieces of fish, mussels, and clams. my hubby ordered the cornish hen confit ($24) and while it had good flavor it was extremely small. there was a half ice cream size amt of grains and only half a hen. cornish hen is super small--why only half of it for an entree?! perhaps we just ordered all the wrong dishes. our friends had some other dishes that looked a lot better- specifically the beef, baconwrapped egg, and pork crisp

wow, came here for my boyfriends birthday lunch and they surely did not disappoint! everything from the interior to the food and even the service was amazing. we ordered the mussels and clams, crispybaconegg, seafood stew, and another dish (i don't remember the name... ) served in a mini cast iron skillet consisting of tomatoes and chicken. everything was perfectly seasoned and delicious, the only dish i didnt care for much though was the dish in the skillet as it was a bit sour for me.. i did however love the mussels/clams and egg! the service also exceeded expectations as our waitress was so welcoming and easy to talk to. i would definitely come back, but maybe to try their dinner menu!

brunch done right that won’t cost you an arm & a leg!

opens at 10 so you don’t need to wake up early & line up to secure a table. the interior is top nosh with beautiful decor.

we got a table instantly & were greeted by friendly staff. our waiter was amazing from start to finish. he was very knowledgeable of the menu.

the crispybacon& egg was better than it sounds- soft boiled egg wrapped inbaconthen battered & deep fried. creamy & crunchy deliciousness.

the spam & eggs were accompanied by abaconparmesan biscuit & deep fried green tomatoes. the spam was pulled pork squished into a spam like shape. everything worked well together on this dish.

the chicken & waffles were well worth it & for only $17! it comes with 2 massive seasoned crispy chicken breasts & waffles galore. the sweet chilli dressing dizzled over gave the dish an extra wow factor! best chicken & waffles ever!!!!

my recommendations- the chicken & waffles. your taste buds will thank you!

i was there a while ago and never had a chance to do this review.  i thought the food there was pretty different, but different in a good way.  i had the steak and i loooooooved it!  i have had a few steaks in my life and this was one of the best ones.  it was cooked to perfection, exactly the way i wanted it.  thebaconwrapped egg and deep fried pork belly was really good too.  i had a drink, and i don't even remember what it was, that there was so much ice and soooo watered down that i might as well ordered a glass of tap water.  although the table i had was a tad small, but the servers were quite friendly.

absolutely love the food here! service is great as well. my second visit, i went with a larger group so we had to order from their set menu. we went with the mid tier menu which was $41 per person. it included 4 appetizers (served family style to share), an entree and 2 desserts (family style). also ordered their crispy egg withbacon(a tuc craft specialty). it was a lot of food but super scrumptious. food was fresh and seasoned well. have yet to try their brunch still but have heard great things and sure it won't disappoint!

i have to say that my experience there is very specific to the fact that i am picky eater and have many dietary restrictions. i went to the restaurant with 6 friends. we found that there wasn't enough choices on the menu for us to have enough variety of food for dinner. (we wanted to try as much as we can, so we shared everything) it probably would have been a better experience if we were there for an afternoon snack or late night snack, not dinner.

we ordered a couple of thebaconeggs (which i could not have), the bone marrow popcorn (too salty for me), parsnip fries (too oily for my liking), the mussels (which i could not have), the elk entree (which i could not have), and the seafood stew.

the seafood stew was quite small in portion, the crab cake in there was fried to the point where the cake was more like a biscuit, it was not moist at all. the ling cod was done very nicely with a crispy outer layer. the vermicelli in the green curry was watery for me with not enough taste.

ambiance and service was good. but it was a bummer that i went in hungry and came out still hungry, but didn't feel the urge to order anything else on the menu.

tuc craft kitchen definitely makes a great stop for a cocktail crawl, with an awesome list of both classic and original cocktail recipes catered to different tastes. i was pleased with all 3 original creations this evening, with the”flowers for algernon” being the gin perfection and my favourite. the”coffee & cigarette” also makes a fun and whimsical choice. there is a good selection of small plates to go with your drinks and i think the crispybaconand egg would go well with almost anything.

warning: everything on this menu is drool worthy and comfort food to the max and also not for the health conscious! so throw away those scales and prepared to gain at least five pounds, you will be glad you did! . crispybacon& egg $4. since every ig foodie that has been has eaten this staple item from the menu: crispybaconand egg, i thought i would try to see what all the hype was about. the photo i think speaks for itself, the delicate still a bit raw egg yolk is delicately wrapped in fried upbaconwith batter. the instant crunch and saltiness from thebacontastes so good with the bit of liquid from the egg yolk. soooo good that i didn’t really want to share this!

went to a small christmas party here. ordered multiple appetizers. the soft boiled egg wrapped inbaconand then i think deep fried is amazing. had the beef daube as the main and it was delicious. it was incredibly filling and would be considered comfort food by most with the layer of cheese and potato awesomeness.

went for brunch. the deep fried egg wrapped inbaconand batter was bland. the pork belly cracklings were cold and the hash browns looked store bought. disappointing

great food and atmosphere, slow service though. had my birthday dinner tonight at tuc :] atmosphere was great and the restaurant wasn't that busy due to the rain. my friends and i ordered three appies/sides, 2 entrees and one dessert (which was a surprise cake of sorts for my bday). the crispybaconand egg looked really good but...thebaconwasn't as crispy as i had imagined it to be. the pork belly crackling was to die for - the pork belly basically melted in your mouth and star anise red wine reduction was perfect with it. for entrees, we had the chicken for two and farmer's crop pot. the chicken was delish but the farmer's crop pot was a little on the salty side. we had the wilted kale along with our entrees and it was great as well. for the surprise, my friends had them add a candle to the chocolate mo'chocolate. there were pop rocks on top of the ice cream so it was super cool. loved the blueberry coulis - it was a nice palette cleanser to the heavy chocolate dish.

if you came to the restaurant hungry, expect a bit of a wait between dishes otherwise service was great!

hey guys! once in awhile we all need to search for some comfort food. how about some canadian fare at tuc craft kitchen . is this gastown eatery a great place for a braised pork or should you go deeper into gastown? read on to find out. food: coming here with team dt, i ordered a braised pork with cranberry chutney (with double smokedbaconand roasted nugget potatoes) and split an orange glazed lamb ribs  (with jalepeno pepper). the lamb ribs here were the tender, fall-off-the-bone type delicacies. i loved the orange glaze on top that gave a good citrus boost to the flavour, and it didn’t taste like cheap chinese glaze as i had been warned. the braised pork was also a jy. once again, the sauce was a fruit and this time it was cranberry. this went really well with the crispybaconand the presentation of this dish was on point. everything on this dish is meant to be scooped up in pieces and eaten together so don’t be intimidated by the half onion sitting on the plate. it tasted really well with the braised pork.  features: this is a narrow and tall restaurant that can seat about 80. the washrooms were pretty nice and akin to what you might find in a milestone’s or moxie’s. tall lamps brighten up the light wood so whatever you’re eating looks amazing. service: service was really good here. our waiter was very kind in his recommendations and had lots of patience for our more indecisive girls . water service was also very frequent in their tall glasses and splitting the bill was a cinch for a table of 7. one-liner:  hearty canadian bistro fare highlight: braised pork with cranberry chutney recommended for: hungry pork lovers in gastown would i go back? yes.
