meh. decor is kind of neat, but i've been 3-4 times maybe twice a year for food (been to shows they have which are fun with just beers), but i don't get the food-hype..
ive gone recently again, and like times before-each time hoping to like it...if anything because it's in a great location, but the hot dogs themselves are underwhelming.
touring bands and local 'celebs' rave about it and i don't..get it.

ripped torn seats, uneven tables, dirty tables, full garbages all the time, bathrooms a bit scary, once the volume on the sound system was so loud (no band middle of the day) it actually hurt my ears and i like music!

the bun is soggy or dry and stale, and white - how about a whole wheat option? no?
the retro style is trendy, but i think that is all this place has going for it.... people think they fit in hipster style, go ahead.
im vegetarian, so i always have the 'not dog' with cheese (not even melted, had to ask for it to be melted, went back in a microwave wtf) and i tried space cheese once, even grosser.
yamfriesare oily and soggy and disgusting. i left them till last to eat and the fat and oil around them began to harden to a lard-like mess..eww.
i know it's not fine dining-i get that but the place has gone downhill in cleanliness, service and can spruce it up a bit to make it good to eat in instead of going to a place you hear being fun and good and it wasn't.
sub-par.. big cheese is way better (poutinery down 17th a bit more), and won't go back to t dog unless a band is playing again and will just drink a red stripe.
price set too high for shitty food, and dirty.
sorry t-dog, i wanna like you, gave you enough chances.
just my 3 cents.

what's there to say?  just pure deliciousness.  the hotdogs/ sausages anyway you like to suit any taste.  thefriesand homemade chips are amazing.  no skimping on the toppings.  go on, grab a gripper, sit on the window, people watch and listen to whatever kick arse music complication they got going on that day.  two thumbs up

hot dogs are big, messy, and tasty. the meat is very 'costco-esque' if that makes sense, to those of you who have had their hot dogs. the 'chips' orfrieswere disappointing, they were bland and kinda burnt tasting, so skip ordering them and just get hot dogs. the restaurant itself is very grungy, but it's location is wonderful.

no sides on tuesday?. i've been living out of the city for a year and i have been dying to return to tubby dog. tonight me and my partner went to fill my craving, but when we arrived we saw a sign on the menu that read:
"no sides" on tuesdays
the guy working there didn't seem to get my joke that putting something in quotation marks doesn't make it seem legit. we thought it was ridiculous that we couldn't get sides (fries or chilli or onion rings) because 1- wtf and 2- we saw other people eatingfriesas we waited for our hot dogs! even more odd, we found out later, was that tuesdays is taco nights, but he neglected to even mention that to us. hello, if you aren't serving sides because it's taco night- tell us it's taco night cause we totally would have bought some as our sides! love the food, don't like the service!

freaking delicious!! my boyfriend and i came to calgary for a weekend trip. we went for lunch at tubby dog, and we knew it was going to be good when we walked in and the line was nearly out of the door. the guys working were super easy going and fun to joke with. they were jamming to taylor swift the entire time. it's clear they are loving what they are doing. now for the food: oh my god!! we got a 1/2 order of t-chips (fries) and a tubby dog...to share! we both walked out stuffed. thefrieswere deliciously seasoned and freshly deep fried. and the hot dog, i don't even have words to explain. it was glorious. overflowing with deliciousness, need a fork and a knife. it was incredible. we watched them make their onion rings, which are double battered, and are so big i thought they were donuts at first. we had a friendly gentleman give us one of his, again, it was incredible.

it's a tiny location, but don't let that stop you from enjoying the amazingness!!

thank you tubby dog, for an incredible lunch!

luv da place just not the food.. i went in expecting to have a bomb ass hot dog but left very disappointed. my son had the jr. dog and he only likes ketchup on it, that's very basic. for some reason the "cook" screwed it up! he put chili and mustard on it, and the goofy guy who was tending the cash register told me to have a seat. so i sat there watching my hot dog get cold as they made everyone who came ins order. they tended to 10 people before i got my cold hot dog and they forgot to drop thefriesi had ordered! so i had to wait another 10 minutes before i got my undercooked soggy fries. the staff behind the counter seemed more like they were hanging out than working and the goofy guy at the cash register was talking about the patrons. not very professional. i guess that's why they sell beer, so people catch a little buzz and don't notice that this place really isn't all that. i wouldn't suggest it there are better options on 17th av.

overpriced. the dogs where okay but at $7 a pop they just arent worth it. the yamfrieswere not spectacular either although a large serving was huge. while i think it was a cool place it just wasnt all that good. plus they were having some king of mortal combat tournament or something so there was no place to sit. these are not stand up hot dogs.

no thanks. been here a couple of times, and wasn't impressed each time.

the hot dogs weren't bad, depending on what you order they really load up the hot dog (had the tubby dog which included chili, and there was generous amounts of chili). it will get messy, so don't wear your sunday best.

fries - poorly fried. they do use fresh potatoes which is good, but thefriesshould be double fried for that nice crunch. they just throw thefriesinto the fryer until cooked, so while it looks crispy you get soggy fries.

onion rings - not bad, it is huge, the breading is a little thick but still good.

i feel this place offers poor value for the money. you could easily spend $10-15 just for a hot dog, fries, and a pop. plus the size of cups they use for the pop is tiny, even the large size.

i'll give kudos on the decor, it has a nice retro look plus some 80s vintage arcade games. too bad it doesn't make up for the so so food.

meh. i went here because i wanted to take my sister out to eat something new and highly talked about. so i took to her, plus my mom to tubby dog. first, i guess it's not a place for my mom, a lot of hipsters and kids there, second, i wanted to eat there with them but there was no tables. i guess they were having a band there but still, where the hell are we supposed to sit, especially since it was raining. all the bar stool area was full and dirty. anyways, i ordered it to go, the yamfriesand the sumo dog (the one that has wasabi, seedweed etc.). so i bought it home, my hot dog was all soggy (i guess because of the ride back it took a while) i ate it anyways but it was like poorly made and for it's price, i can make my own at home like this. the yamfrieson the otherhand were so burnt, and it was a large quantity, it was such a waste.

my comment is, if you go here, maybe eat it there and not do take out. you'll end up getting a soggy hot dog with burnt fries.

also, i think it sucks it's only cash only.
