truluck's ocean's finest seafood and crab

my husband and i went to truluck's for our anniversary. the table was set nicely and our server, eric, was great! unfortunately, my husbands steak was not cooked correctly and our sides were cold. we sent the steak back twice and it never came out to his liking. a manager never stopped by to check on us although we saw him pass by a few times. when given the bill the steak was still on there and we asked our server why?! he apologized and said he had asked the manager to take it off and the manager refused. we were extremely mad and disappointed. we paid the bill and decided to call the next day to complain. the manager that never stopped by our table is also the general manager, even more disappointing. he was not available to talk so we got his bosses name, bo dorton. after several days passed mr. dorton finally returned our call. he apologized and said there was nothing he could do and followed up with "i hope you will return". are you serious?! extremely frustrated that we paid for a meal that we did not get to enjoy. sad that arestaurantlike this cannot cook a medium rare steak and makes you pay for it when you didn't eat it. we highly discourage anyone from visiting truluck's.

wonderful find. while visiting southlake, tx my husband and i ate a wonderful meal at truluck's. without exaggeration it was one of the best meals we've had in a long time. i had the sesame tuna and my husband had halibut. both meals were cooked perfectly. the service was amazing, very efficient and friendly, but not overdone; therestaurantmanager stopped by our table to ask about our meal. next time we are in southlake we will definitely be eating at truluck's.

a miserable dining experience. as the result of my job and extensive business travel for 35 years, i've enjoyed many fine meals served in numerous top-notch establishments. tonight's experience at southlake's truluck's failed to achieve mediocrity in either category.
i ordered an entree i've enjoyed many times before in other establishments, blackened redfish with ponchitrain sauce. i'd failed to eat earlier in the day, so i ordered a side of green beans almandine after being told the redfish was presented over rice. when my dinner arrived, the fish was served on top of the green beans, and there was no rice to be found.
bad mistake.
in addition, either the beans or the sauce included a pungent tasting, thin, reddish constituent that - when combined with the richness of the sauce - left me nauseous and unable to finish my meal, even after scraping as much of the offending sauce as possible from my fish. i ended up leaving over half of the food on my plate, as the mystery constituent had succeeded in tainting the rest of the plate's contents as well. surprisingly for arestaurantthat so brashly boasts of unmatched service, even this obvious signal that all was not well completely escaped the notice of our waiter, who instead busied himself in banter as he cleared away our plates when the meal ended.
huge mistake.
based on this horrible experience, ifind that i can't recommend truluck's for any occasion. my guests found their selections to be good, but not great, and mine was totally unacceptable. combined with negligent service, and their 5 star pricing, this gets two big thumbs down!

a fav in dfw area. i love going to thisrestaurantwhen i am in dfw. great wine list and have happened on some good specials there.
if you are a dessert fan, ask to see the dessert tray before you choose your main course! the date night specials can help pare down the cost. everything i have had there has been amazing. my favorites are the scottish salmon and the jalapeno salmon. dining companions have loved the crab claws and miso sea bass. i highly recommend the chocolate bag or ice cream "cake" for dessert. btw, the service has been great each time i've been there.
