southlake's most expensive restaurant. truluck's is a chain, but it's like morton's where there is only one in selected cities.

dress nice.

expect to spend $150 or up for a party of two.

my husband and i went to truluck's for our anniversary. the table was set nicely and our server, eric, was great! unfortunately, my husbands steak was not cooked correctly and our sides were cold. we sent the steak back twice and it never came out to his liking. a manager never stopped by to check on us although we saw him pass by a few times. when given the bill the steak was still on there and we asked our server why?! he apologized and said he had asked the manager to take it off and the manager refused. we were extremely mad and disappointed. we paid the bill and decided to call the next day to complain. the manager that never stopped by our table is also the general manager, even more disappointing. he was not available to talk so we got his bosses name, bo dorton. after several days passed mr. dorton finally returned our call. he apologized and said there was nothing he could do and followed up with "i hope you will return". are you serious?! extremely frustrated that we paid for a meal that we did not get to enjoy. sad that a restaurant like this cannot cook a medium rare steak and makes you pay for it when you didn't eat it. we highly discourage anyone from visiting truluck's.

truluck’s can be an expensive dining experience. everything is a la carte and you can manage a $110 tab quickly without drinks.

presented with an extensive menu, you should want for nothing. the food quality, unfortunately, varies from dish to dish. this is a sign of a harried kitchen that delegates the finishing stages to apprentices—and it shows. when dropping this kind of money, i expected precision but it was not rendered.

bottom line: pricey, varied menu with mediocre results.

great food and good service, you visit here for the steaks, expensive but it is what you expect for a week rated restaurant. i've been here multiple times and every time the food had been excellent.

this is definitely date night or business vip dinning. the food is good. the service is acceptable. i'd suggest this place for slow dining or special friends in town. the wine list is well appointed so be prepared to dine and linger. girls, snappy casual is the dress code. piano will be playing. it's swanky.

this is one of the best places i've eaten at. great service, atmosphere and food. pretty pricey-but well spent. server eric treated us like royalty.

this is the kind of place that you'll remember years down the road.

typically mrs. rjg and i travel on our anniversary, but this year we decided to stay home. as such we went for a "splurge" meal to celebrate. this blog is named the regular joe's guide for a reason, and that's because we both really, truly (to repeat: really truly) prefer regular restaurants to the fancy ones. so it is mainly in my business life that i will end up at these restaurants. again, i would prefer more down-home places myself, but i'm clearly in the minority with my peers on that front. in any case, it is no surprise that my first two visits to truluck's were for business. the first goes back to my former job in 2005 at the mckinney avenue location - and about 3 years ago, a vendor came into town and we dined at the southlake store. obviously i enjoyed it enough to suggest to mrs. rjg that this would be an excellent place to celebrate our wedding anniversary. and trul

great meal. my wife and i decided to stroll up to southlake for a quiet dinner last evening and were very impressed with this restaurant. our waitress (megan holt) was incredible. he knowledge of the menu and wine list were perfect and gave some really sound suggestions. the ambiance was very quiet and elegant but still very friendly and inviting.

the food was prepared perfectly and was a pleasure.

the manager (mike mcclure) even stopped by the table a time or two to check on our meal and chat for a few minutes.

i would strongly suggest this restaurant.

great service and extensive wine list. my husband had the ceviche and sea bass, loved them both; and i had the vegetarian falafel. it was delicious and nice to have a vegetarian selection at a seafood restaurant. we will definitely be back.

the happy hour was better than the actual dinner. i had the all you can eat crab for $60. it was served more like an appetizer. my husband had the pork chop. undercooked then overcooked. i will be back for happy hour but never dinner. p.s. get there early and have the sliders! the lychee martini is also amazing.
