triple j chophouse & brew co

my family and i went totriplej as part of a large group. the waiter placed no priority on servicing the group. glasses stood empty unless some flagged the waiter down. even then the waiter only filled filled that person's drink and did not bother with the other empty glasses at the table. these were not alcoholic beverages; the drinks were tea, lemonade, and water. there was no effort put in by the wait staff. because of the size of our group an automatic gratuity was added to every tab. the service provided was so poor i will not go back and i will advise my friends and family to steer clear of thetriplej.

we have always had a great experience with food and service attriplej. i like how you recieve butterflied chicken so you can take half of it home quite easily. bread and sides are delish and the owners are very nice folks.

a little history for you: thetriplej chophouse opened in 2006. the historic building was once the hub city brewery for 11 years. we also have learned at one time it was a glass company. if you know any other information about the building, let us know! i did not know what to expect from the atmosphere or the look of the restaurant. the first thing that caught my eye wa

bad kitchen.triplej's has a nostalgic connection for me. they have finally embraced the advantage of having crafted beers. the kitchen however is another story. the menu is good. the execution is questionable. i have some friends on the wait and bartending staff and they do an excellent job. my problem is with the time it takes to get served and i haven't had the best of luck even ordering something as simple as a hamburger to go. as i pay my tab for food i didn't receive and walk toward the exit, a person saying they're the manger asks what's wrong. the kitchen was texting when i walked by hungry. if he was a manager i would assume he would examine ticket times....

very good most of the time. we go to thetriplej regularly and about 85% of the time, the service and food is excellent. every once in awhile, our steaks are overcooked or the service is not very good, but not often enough to keep us away. we like the steaks, salmon and pork. the chicken fried steak is usually good, too. it's a nice atmosphere, but if full, then it's hard to hear yourselves talk.

worst service i have every had. we have gone totriplej's three times now and each time the service is horrible. the wait staff complains about everything within ear shot of the customers, they run out of beer and their management doesn't seem to care... its too bad, because i really want to like the place given that it is one of the few micro-brew places in town that also serves pretty good food.

great for a lubbock experience. if you have friends in town take them totriplej's for a lubbock-y night out. however, that said, while i do liketriplej's, i feel that texas roadhouse has the same type of dishes at a better price with better flavor. their chicken "potted" pie is very good, but other dishes lack. many of their side items are simply packaged frozen foods that are dumped in a fryer (fried green beans for example). service can be hit or miss and their in house brewed beers are often simply copycats of big labels with less flavor. overall, i liketriplej's but it is not my favorite place.

we went and ate attriplej's for the first time last night ( i know, we never get out!) and loved this place, granted the wait was long about 45 minutes, but we decided to stay, since i really wanted to try it, but a long wait is usually a good sign anyways, and at 6 on a friday night what else do you expect? we got to enjoy the beautiful building/scenery, and enjoy a couple of micro-brews, i got the stout (or 3) and my wife got the wiet bier and they were fantastic. and very well priced. we finally got to our table, and considering how busy they were trent our waiter was very attentative, and very personal with us, and did a great job considering he had 5 tables. (all full). i got the prime rib, my wife got the pork chop, both were great, i am not a fan of sweet potato fries, but i must say, my wife got some on her plate and they were by far the best ones i have ever tried. i must say, i am a huge fan of harrigan's prime rib, have been for years, but i would saytriplej's has just topped it, and this will be where i go for prime rib for now on. i highly recommend this place. granted it gets busy, so if you're not willing to wait either come early, or on a weekday, but i don't mind, i got to enjoy personal time with the wife, and enjoy a great beer!

gone down hill.... i have worked downtown for almost 10 years and back whentriplej very first opened, i loved it. the choppy bob nachos were my favorite. the past 2 times i have been here, the food has gone way down. to a point where i don't even take more than a few bites. the chips on the choppy bob nachos are always burnt and the sauce they put on the top was greasy & clumpy. don't know if they switched chefs or management but they need to fix whatever it is!

j=just can't get it right. as a big fan of lubbock's depot district and someone who goes out of the way to eat downtown, i've not yet had a fulfilling, good experience at thetriplej. after the first trip i've only gone when others suggested meeting there. even for just drinks i've been disappointed. the food is not even average for a casual dining place, the service has been bad each and every time.

i wish they'd been a truly good steakhouse but they are not and are not sure what business they are in: bar food and beer?, steaks?, pizza? - very unfocused from top to bottom and poor execution all around.

hit or miss. i love the food thattriplej has to offer. the service is really hit or miss. sometimes they are very quick and friendly, and other times they are very slow to help you and do not seem to want you there. overall, the food is enough to make me come back and cross my fingers for good service.

live music. call ahead to make sure you get to hear some music!!!! their menu is pricey, but it is well worth every penny! great place for date night or to take your parents when they come in town to visit... awesome experience... i really liketriplej!!!

disappointed (could be good, but wasn't). i was very disappointed with my experience attriplej. things started off smoothly, the waiter was friendly and the atmosphere was pleasant. however, things went downhill once we received our meal. someone besides our waiter (i am assuming a manager) brought the food and it looked great. my dish, the honey & pepper ribeye was great. however, my friend, who ordered a medium 7 oz filet cut into his steak to find that it was practically raw. our waiter, who it appeared had been assigned too many tables, could not be found for at least ten minutes, and when we finally flagged him down, he agreed that the steak was terribly undercooked. he took it back, and brought the same steak that had been recooked back about 5 minutes later (it was cooked, but didn't taste good), and by this time i was finished. our waiter, then could not be found for another 15 minutes. we finally got our checks and got out. no manager came over to talk to us about our experience, and no compensation for the experience was offered.
