tomahawk restaurant

couple months ago we were going to tomahawk but we didn’t end up eating as the lineup was ridiculously long. since we were just near-by, i suggested that we drop by again and see how busy it is this time. when we got there, there were a few people waiting but mostly medium sized group. we were pretty lucky that the counter freed up so we were seated quite quickly.

very small place and not great seating for parties over 4. wait for table was long. children's menu mac & cheese was huge. burgers were delicious! a friend had the beef dip and said it was delicious.

so disappointing!. after seeing this restaurant on diners drive ins and dives, i thought this place must be good..the dining area is about the size of my livingroom and you have to walk sideways to get to a table...some seats you'd have to walk over the table top to get to...literally...menu is simple and had some really neat sounding stuff..burgers with yukon bacon, aged cheddar, eggs, wieners... my husband and i both ordered burgers..i got fries, he got 4 small onion rings as a substitute for $2.10...literally he got half of a small onion...they were cold, old, and burnt. the fries were cold, old, and looked like great value brand walmart fries...my burger had all this shredded lettuce on ...even the bitter inner bits of the head lettuce too...my burger was just a burger...not impressive at all...no taste, no flavour...no salt, or seasoning at all...just bland.. our waitress, never asked how our food was, or to refill our drinks...and came to grab my plate without even asking if i was finished..i grabbed it back and said, no...im waiting for you to come back so i can ask for some dressing...service was poor, and slow...so disappointing...i would never recommend to anyone...and forget agreeing to a side of gravy...$3.10! portions are so small, and the price isn't!

earlier this month, i was watching an episode of you gotta eat here on food network and caught their segment on tomahawk in north vancouver. turns out, my parents were huge fans and we decided to go this past week. however, they had only had breakfast there before, but i was going to check out the burgers!   the entrance is an indication to the outstanding collection of indian artifacts found within the restaurant itself. many of the items were collected by founder and owner chick chamberlain.   as i mentioned, my parents usually come here for breakfast and the two of them would share this, the yukon-style bacon and eggs . they might add a side of yam fries, but that's about it. the breakfast comes with five slices of yukon-style bacon, two free range eggs served however you like, as well as two slices of toast, your choice of white or multigrain, and a huge serving of golden-griddled hash brown potatoes underneath it all. i convinced my mom that she should just order that for herself,

surprising. it's a dive, unchanged for years and years with the same placemats, tables, narrow booths, and -stuff-, loads of it, on the walls & ceiling. the servers are still permanently rushed as well. and yet the beef is organic, eggs are free range. the breakfast menu is hit or miss- hits are the yukon bacon (similar to back bacon), pancakes, and omelettes. your surroundings are a clue- stick with the classics and you'll leave satisfied.

this is the worst service i have ever experienced! i came for a late dinner and after being seated i was completely ignored. i had to ask for a menu after already being sat for 12 minutes- after getting a menu no one took my order until i tracked down a bus girl. i will never ever waste my money here again!!

the worst service ever!!!!. my wife and i went to the tomahawk in feb 2012 and had a good experience. we went back begining of september, what a mistake. we sat down and waiting for a while to get a drink orders put in and then waited to get our drinks and order dinner. the waitress took our orders and that was the last time we saw her for a long time. five tables that we seated after us were brought their food. are you kidding! we sat for nearly 45 mins with nothing. our order was so simple, a cheese burger and a clubhouse. easy right? apparently not. the waitress comes over to our table after she noticed that we didn't have our food yet. then she precedes to inform us that she lost our order. for some crazy reason we decided to resubmit our order and stay. our food finally comes and the burger i ordered was smaller than a mcdonald's cheeseburger and cold and mushy. the thing that really made us mad was that the owner is standing at the cash register with one hand on it waiting for money from the customers. he didn't once walk around his restaurant to ask how everyones meal was or how things were going. i can't believe they can keep the doors open with service like that. terrible. don't go, costs a fortune and you will get the worst service you have ever seen.

very disappointed. after watching it being featured on ddd and gotta eat here, we decided to go for lunch. the group that arrived before us were told to pick a spot anywhere, so we did the same. once we picked a table a server said that we had to wait to order because the other table was ahead of us. the restaurant wasnt even busy and three tables were still dirty. i sat next to a table that had dirty french fries on the floor. the food was semi cold and super greasy. our friends burger fell to pieces because his bun was all soggy.

very disappointing roast.... roast beef should be cooked, sliced and usually moist and medium to medium rare. we went especially for a roast beef dinner, they must slice big hunks in advance, take them out and throw them on a grill or something, this roast been was like shoe leather and curled up on the edges. the waitress was great, apologized, asked us if we wanted to try again or order something else. since we had waited 45 minutes to get our meals in the first place, we tried again, another slab of meat that must have been cooked again on both sides on a grill... almost like a thin steak, very unappealing, but we kept it. it was a little better, but after beginning to eat, found the yorkshire pudding frozen inside! ... we mentioned it to the waitress, again she apologized, and said she'd tell someone.
tha'ts it, the bill came, we paid, we left, we'll not be going back nor recommending to anyone, especially for the roast beef, yuk!

horrible service. we ate at tomahkwak today while visiting vancouver. i thought that waiting for 45 minutes for a table the service would be good. we waiting over an hr for our mediocre food without the waitress coming to even fill up our water. she did not apologize for the long wait or provide any explanation. my dad had the meatloaf which was okay, my mom had an underdressed salad, i had eggs benny which were jus okay hashbrowns sucked and was completely under salted. and my husband had a burger which he thought was good. fries had clearly been sitting out for a while. my daughter had mac n cheese which was fine but 10$ for a kids meal is a little much. definatly not going back... waste of money and time...

nice family restaurant! great variety-waitress staff very attentive. prices good for value! hidden treasure!

i haven't been to the tomahawk for a long time and i had good memories about it. however i was very disappointed this time. the service was appalling as we had to wait upwards or 45 minutes for our breakfast. no real explanation was given and the server didn't seem to care that much. we were talking about leaving when the food finally arrived. it was pretty good but not worth the wait. i don't understand what happened as this place must turn a lot of tables. we weren't the only ones that waited a long time, so i think management needs to take note. even paying the bill with visa was a hassle as you have to line up at the cash where there is barely a 3 foot opening between the lobby and the reataurant, ridiculous! there are a lot of breakfast places around.... i don't think we'll be back to the tomahawk.

very disappointing! wanted to try this place for sometime now. however with a $5 seat charge?? the portions seems large, we share everywhere else. paid for our drinks and left! dark ages customer service. if the food was that good, the tip would have been more than $5.

disappointment. i was there 30 years ago it was great. after seeing it on ddd my wife and i decided to try as she has never been there. let's start at the beginning. i opened the door for the hostess as her hands were full. not even a common courtesy of saying thank-you so much for chivalry. i had with my meal with hash browns-what a great idea of using frozen out of a bag rather than home made. i asked for my waitress for bacon instead of sausage the kitchen could not handle that request. the sausage were from a pygmy porker and really not that tasty. my wife had eggs benedict with one soft and one not so soft. for $25.00 and more we shall not return but will inform are friends.

came for a late lunch today, wanted to put our name down in their wait list but was ignored for 10 minutes. got a table 15 minutes later. ordered our food, and waited almost an hour for our food to arrive. waitress seemed to hide from us while we were waiting for our order. food was okay, but i don't know if i'll ever go back.
