tomahawk restaurant

sadly this icon of the northshore has fallen to the state it is now. once upon a time, when the father ran this fine restaurant the level of food quality was much higher. that and the service was second to none. that being said you won't find that now. these days you find high prices and reduced meals.  many years ago, the yukon breakfast was known for taking on the challenge of trying to finish the meal. now it is a just  average over priced meal.  seems the son, and his children don't have the passion for the business. might be time for them to close the doors, and return those fine artifacts to the natives who are the rightful owners.  so don't waste your time, or money eating here. there is many finer places to spend your hard earned dollars.

i was born and raised on the northshore and this restaurant is very iconic here for the locals. i remember during my highschool years a classmate of mine said his family owned it and i should try it. i was addicted to their breakfast ever since. it's a great hang out spot for highschool kids. service is friendly and prices are fair. lots of parking in the neighborhood.

i dunno why this place has a 3.3 average. they deserve better. sure, their breakfast is the typical greasy, diner style breakfast but you'd expect that type of breakfast from a restaurant that has a name like tomahawk, wouldn't you? they serve good food. sure, a bit overpriced but the food's not all that bad so it balances out.

a far cry from what it was, but still fun to have breakfast in local history. meals have shrunken, but still fair for the price. been coming here since the 60's. not a lot of seats, so expect a wait at meal time.

solid comfort food, nothing super fancy but they do simple well. decor was interesting and every little bit offered some part of history. service was direct, fast and attentive! didn't have to wait long for food, drinks, desserts or refills! will revisit when comfort food is needed.

this small unassuming structure in north vancouver is home to the greatest experience of grilled beef you are likely to find. inside it is decorated in native indian carvings and paintings and the staff are quite young but professional. go here at least once, you will not regret it.

saw this place on triple d.  the only reason for our visit, is due to the fact i work 15 min away and the husband drove me that day.  i was full just on the burger never mind the fries. my husband ordered one of their towering burgers (he can pack the burgers down, bairly on this visit).  the burgers were juicy, not dry, well cooked.  we will have to go back to try other dishes.  you will not be disappointed.

i have only ever had one dish , but it always comes out amazing . tomahawk was featured on you gotta eat here for their beef dip . it's is tender , juicy , and the au jus is rich and compliments the meat very nicely . a must try .

disappointing. where to begin? all four over easy eggs at our table arrived completely cooked solid. the hashbrowns were from a bag in the freezer. stingy on the jam. kids meals were really pricey. fish and chips were from the freezer and the fish was still cold. i'd rather pay for good food than quirkiness.

diners, drive ins and duds!!!. i had the new york steak special, came out looking like it was microwaved. it ended up being the worst steak i've ever had at a restaurant. i think the cook forgot to add spice. i wish i'd read reviews prior as i wouldn't had come based on their food sharing charge. who in their right mind would've recommended this place to guy fieri? how embarrassing to have him come here. i will give props to the service as our waitress was kind and attentive.

lukewarm turkey and gravy. we went for turkey dinner with all the trimmings that they have on their menu every day. the whole plate, including the mashed potatoes and veggies was lukewarm. we sent it back to make it warmer. well it was warmer but still not hot enough. the stuffing was very bland.

the pumpkin pie a la mode was excellent but a small piece of pie. certainly not what was expected at this restaurant that used to be known for large portions.

my girlfriend was there the day previous and she had a good hamburger but she said the buns are now much smaller than they used to be.

after seeing great reviews on both diners, drive-ins and dives as well as you gotta eat here, it was very disappointing and not worth the long drive out to north vancouver from langley.

at the register there is a sign asking folks to pay by cash or debit although they still accept credit cards. this place must be having financial problems as they seem to be cutting back on what used to make them have such a great reputation.

food is okay but it doesn't overcome the rest of the negative experience. they charge you an addition $5.50 to split an order of their biggest breakfast which was for $18.50. they should have put that down on their menu. coffee comes with only one re-fill, un-heard of for a family restaurant. be prepared to pay for additional coffee if you need it to wash down the greasy breakfast :-(. very disappointing experience.

all smoke and mirrors. for a restaurant steeped in tradition and highlighted on the tv show you gotta eat here- i have been disappointed more often than not. robotic servers, returned orders, doughy pancakes, one package of jam for an order of toast, refusal to allow two people to sit at a 4 chair table are some of the issues that have come up the last two times we've visited.
we decided a trip to denny's in the future for sunday breakfast was a better option and about 30% cheaper
