not that impressed. heard many great things about this place. but left hungry. had a burger that appeared to closer to one of the sliders. small side of fries. i am typically a light eater but this was more of an appy then meal. my wife had the chicken with side salad. they were so cheap on the side salad we had to order a full salad. which brought our bill to $40 that with just waters to drink. left hungry and disappointed. should have gone somewhere else for that price.

food was ok, but $5.50 split charge is a cash grab. we ordered the steak pie and mixed grill to split amongst 3 ppl. the mixed grill is huge, impossible to be eaten by 1 person without having a heart attack. this lead me to conclude that they made it big so they can charge extra for sharing it with someone. the intent is then malicious. if profitability is really the issue, then lower the price (even by $3/4) and make it smaller!

disappointed. we drove 40mins to check out this place, we've heard rave reviews about the food, which looked delicious. unfortunately the experience was disappointing in that i didn't want to eat a lot and it was not an option to have an extra plate to eat off of unless i wanted to pay $5.50 for it. they have a no sharing policy they strictly enforce. so if you order a large portion and can't finish it - don't allow your pals to share it with you, you'll get charged. i can understand there is a sharing charge if i wanted to split a dish and have equal portions hashbrowns etc and the kitchen has to put the time and energy into splitting the dish- no problem i'll pay. but 'you're not allowed to share and divy up the food yourself' policy. i guess the establishment doesn't make enough money to spend the extra 25cents in the broader picture- to have the dishwasher clean the extra plate and set up cutlery, so that the customers dining experience is a pleasant one.

i wanted to share with my gf but they tried to charge me for a dish. are you kidding me.
you want to push a 5.50$ sharing charge on a table worth 50$. and 15$ on potential tips? so this policy lost 15$ in tips. lost 4 customers that will never come back. all the policy causes is an angry server because i had fun arguing with one.

don't be fooled by all the awards. they are given out by some northshore newspaper. not much competition.

crap restaurant. this is exactly like the show dives, its the worst most expensive and othe owner is a jerk.

listen to this. the food here is bad when is busy since the kitchen is very bad design only 3 people can cook in the line because there is not space to fit more people and the problem is that the owner doesn't wan't to fix that situation because he doesn't wan't to spend any money at all...(greedy). the restaurant fits 80 to 90 people sometimes up to 3 sittings so 3 cooks makes 1and half plates a every minute....so they don't care much about quality or flavour but speed all they want to do is sending orders out even the products are good quality like organic eggs, organic meat, etc the final product is bad 'cause the owner doesn't want to pay more cooks and in the other hand the unprofessional teenager (good looking) servers gets tons of money in tips from 100 up to 300 hundred (im not kidding) per shift tipping nothing to the kitchen ...my friend used to work there and she told me whats going on...

$5.50 charge to split an entree. 4 of us went in for breakfast, and two of us wanted to split an entree. the server explained that while she didn't wrote the policy, their policy is to charge $5.50. $2.00 maybe, but $5.50?!?!? again, we were ordering 3 entrees, but one of us wasn't as hungry in the morning. this place is a run down diner at best, which makes the charge offensive. none of us will return.

seriously, the management needs a lesson in efficient seating. what's worse, is that i walked in with to go coffee cup. i was told i could not be seated with it. excuse me??? the reason from the owner himself was "you don't see people walking into the keg with their own steaks, so you?" no, i don't, and i also don't see steak to go in every street corner in north america like i do coffee. what a moron.

if i can't finish the coffee i picked up for my drive to your restaurant to give you my money i simply will not come.

avoid this plase. i was there for lunch today and was going to share a club house sandwich with my mother. the wait staff told us there will a $5.50 charge for sharing a meal. me and my mom are not big eaters so it would have been to much if we order one each. that would have made the sandwich dam near $20. the wait staff was rude and unfriendly.

“tomahawk” has been recommended to me on several occasions. known more for their breakfast, i still decided to come in for dinner. located farther for me in north vancouver, i found it worth the introductory trip down. if not for the comfort food, for a decor like no other. if you miss it, the restaurant’s entrance is flanked by a pair of matching totem poles, the only place like it. with a spacious parking lot to the side it is fairly easy to get to and convenient to stop at.   at the lobby you are greeted with a scaled down gift shop. a corner store of candy, souvenirs, and native memorabilia for purchasing. i suspect this does fairly well as tourists often visit, and have been doing so since 1926. proof is in their framed awards. rows and rows, and years and years of accolades lined the foyer. decades of achievements throughout time, and a testament to their longevity.   past the food and collectables is a running water feature. a pond sized pool surrounded by brick, settled in by y

hmm. service kind of sucks! but food is much, much better than the denny's in the same area, and is about the same price. decent portions too.

triple d worthy???. perhaps worthy of the 'dive' title. the building essentially looks like an older public park washroom, the inside entrance area is cluttered with a non functioning fish pond thing and a cheesy gift shop. the dining area looks a bit better, the menu does have what would appear to be delicious options. the prices seem to be roughly 10-15% higher of any other comparable place. $2.30 to substitute for yam fries or a ceasar salad??? i suppose that's understandable as the fries that came with my burger were horrendous and were reminiscent of frozen french fries from superstore, and not even the good kind.

the skookum chief burger or however you spell it sounds delicious, its has all the good stuff you would want, bacon, lettuce tomato, cheese, a fried egg. unfortunately it all tastes fairly bland as the beef patty was barely if at all seasoned, very unfortunate. not to mention the butterflied no name wiener doesn't work too well on it either. our server was fairly nice, but the main guy who we called out to a few times ignored us and just looked shady with his pony tail and dress shirt with tie. are you running a money laundering scheme in the back??

on the plus the root beer float was great, nice choice in vanilla ice cream, very tasty. but c'mon you serve pub favourites and you're not even licensed?? stop being so cheap and get a liquor licence!!

arrived, seated quickly!! service very medeocore. kitchen screwed up my order, by the time they fixed it i finished my burger and wasn't hungry any longer. food was ok... could have made better at home. servings were small!!! probably would skip this place next time. bad rec from ddd

no, you don't gotta eat here!!. a wonderful combination of sub par food sub par service.

my partner's fish and chips were store bought (both the fish and the chips). her chocolate milkshake was thin and uninspired. my steak and eggs were ok. just ok. my hash browns were also stir bought and chalky. a sure sign of a lazy chef.

service was nonexistent. i was excited because i saw raisin pie in the fridge when we walked in, but our barely awake server decided to drop our bill on us without even offering. she also didn't refill our waters and tried to take away the ketchup mid meal for refilling.

do yourself a favour and skip this place. the shine is long worn off.

it’s a funny concept… a village worth of bacon and potatoes combined with among many things, a single piece of cheese and a few sliced onions. i wonder if the cartoony, where’s waldo placemat has some di vinci code which reveals the correct way to eat the mixed grill. or maybe you should just eat it yukon-style..whatever that means.
